Sir Degrader 08-17-2005 10:24 AM

Well, what is it?

Mack_Attack 08-17-2005 10:28 AM

You spin me around. ;)

Zink Whistlefly 08-17-2005 10:30 AM

Goonies are good enough ;)

Bozos of Bones 08-17-2005 10:38 AM

I'd say Eurythmycs - Sweet Dreams and maybe Pointer Sisters - I'm So Excited, I have good memories with that one.

mad=dog 08-17-2005 11:44 AM

It's a matter of taste. Heck my own favorite differs according to my mood. I reckon I'd have to go with either Fleetwood Mac "Everywhere" or Nik Kershaw "I won't let the sun go down on me" (NOT the duet with similar title). Alternatively something with Billy Joel. Or Eurythmics (as mentioned above).

Gangrell 08-17-2005 12:18 PM

Golden Earring's Twilight Zone.

Sir Degrader 08-17-2005 12:42 PM

Surprised no one has mentioned "Panama" or "Eye of the Tiger", easily my nominations.

Uruk'hai Gard 08-17-2005 12:50 PM

Def Leppard: Love bites

Jorath Calar 08-17-2005 01:02 PM

Clairvoyant - Iron Maiden
One - Metalica

Morgeruat 08-17-2005 01:33 PM

That's My Job by Conway Twitty

Amarillo By Morning
Marina Del Rey - George Strait

Bungleau 08-17-2005 02:36 PM

Van Halen - Jump

Golden Earring - Radar Love

George Thoroughgood - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer

Not sure if that was the 80s or early 90s...

Lucern 08-17-2005 03:13 PM

Slayer - Angel of Death

Sir Kenyth 08-17-2005 03:13 PM

"I'm Too Sexy" by "Right Said Fred"?

Zebodog 08-17-2005 05:27 PM

Relax - Frankie goes to Hollywood.

VulcanRider 08-17-2005 06:55 PM

In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins. You can't fully appreciate that tune unless you saw the pilot episode of Miami Vice, where Tubbs was out for revenge on the drug dealer who killed his brother...

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 08-17-2005 07:55 PM

Tough Tough Tough one.. that's not a song btw.

hmm, Me and Sarah Jane (live) By Genesis is very good.

Oh Jungle Land by Simple Minds and

My personalized license plate which I've had for 20 years says U2*1

Morgeruat 08-17-2005 08:17 PM

You would be so correct on that VR.

Bob Seger - And The Silver Bullet Band -Greatest Hits
Glenn Fry (Eagles) - First Day of Summer
Night Ranger - Sister Christian

Sorry fellers, but Golden Earring - Radar Love pre-dates 1980.

Jorath Calar 08-17-2005 09:26 PM

Wild Boys - Duran Duran... :D

Ilander 08-17-2005 10:23 PM

There was music during the eighties besides Metallica?

Bungleau 08-17-2005 10:34 PM

Thanks, Felix... now I *know* my memory is going way off

But, to get back into it... how about Van Halen's Hot for Teacher? If that video didn't hit almost every adolescent male fantasy, I don't know what would

Metallica is music?

B, I fully understand.

Marathon 08-17-2005 11:17 PM

Anything by the Pixies

Please Please Please... (or any of several others) - The Smiths

Plainsong - the Cure

Anything Cliff Burton played on (but especially Kill em All).

Touch of Grey - Grateful Dead

robertthebard 08-17-2005 11:35 PM

I have to get on the Metallica bus...However, Rush Tom Sawyer, and anything off of 2112... :D

Lucern 08-18-2005 12:31 AM

I'd be with you on 2112 Robert, except it's a 1976 release ;)

I love 2112 - especially the Temple of Syrinx. Geddy's a bass hero of mine.

Quick, open up a Best Song of the 70's thread :D

Jorath Calar 08-18-2005 12:48 AM

We don't have to, that Wish you were here by Pink Floyd... no contest...

Grojlach 08-18-2005 04:49 AM

Not specific songs as such, but a nice selection of great 80s albums, in no particular order:

I think I would pick "Hunting high and low" by AHA over Take on me.

Sever 08-18-2005 05:51 AM

"Epic", Faith No More.

Svaerdhelgon 08-18-2005 11:04 AM

Slayer - Aggressive Perfector
Bathory - Reaper
Iron Maiden - The whole album "Killers"
Manowar - Hail and Kill
Kreator - Ripping corpse
Sodom - Ausgebombt (or) Agent Orange
Savage Death - Evil Dead (or) Satan´s Throne

Hell,I won´t bother listing anymore songs. There´s a LOT of good songs from the eighties

KDogRex 08-18-2005 01:28 PM

Wow...so Tempting to pick some really obscure song, I'll have to just hit a few Genres...

Metal - AC/DC - Let's Get It Up
Pop - T'Pau, Heart and Soul
Rap - N.W.A, Straight Outta Compton (HANDS DOWN the most aggressive rap ever)
Country - Charlie Daniel's Band, The South's Gonna Do It Again

Sir Krustin 08-18-2005 10:17 PM

So, so hard to pick just one, all the stuff above surely qualifies - but I'm surprised these weren't mentioned:

Huey Lewis and the News - Do You Believe In Love
J.Geils Band - Centerfold
ZZTop - Legs

johnny 08-18-2005 11:02 PM

Either that post is really clever, or your memory is failing. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, though.

Lord 08-19-2005 02:22 AM

the 80s had no good music . I'd consider N.W.A. early 90s even though N.W.A. and the Posse was released in 89 (or 87) I think. N.W.A. gets my vote, however.
