Anybody know of any cool adjectives? No, I don't mean adjectives that are related to low temperatures. I mean adjectives with a fancy meaning. Anything at all.

For example, the adjective 'suave' sounds dandy and has a nifty meaning also.

I realise that the 'coolness' of adjectives is very subjective. One might even say that some don't like the word 'suave'. Whatever. Admit it - you know there are some adjectives that just do sound cool.

Thanks in advance.

Moxy. Don't even ask me what it means. Google it. Bitch.

<font color=steelblue>Dalamar...cool it with the cussing/name-calling. I'm surprised you'd post something like this after seeing Zebodog's warning earlier. Read the TOS again. This is the SECOND warning for you in a week.

Don't push for a third. </font>

Smarmy is a nice little adjective. Mangy, scruffy... yep, I've got a dog.

And I just had a chance to use "blithely" the other day. That was pretty neat... you don't see that often in conversation.

Cloudbringer 08-12-2005 01:32 PM

Dalamar, don't know why you'd post that but I'm pretty sure you do know better.

Uss, effervescent was always a favorite one of mine.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 08-12-2005 01:42 PM

I enjoy "eldritch", especially when DMing... I'm also a fan of "effervescent", Cloudy. I also like "ethereal" and "lilting". "Base" and "Common", although snobby, can be very accurate when I'm trying to describe someone's behaviour or perhaps a popular movie... I suppose the pattern is that they all sound rather like what they mean. And I also feel obligated to toss a noun in here: No discussion of favourite words is complete without "defenestrate." That's one I sometimes use three, four times a day.

Cloudbringer 08-12-2005 02:18 PM

LOL, so long as you don't use it while doing it, Illumina! I like eldritch too but it's a hard one to work into the conversation at the office!

It was a friendly one, like Dave Chapelle does.

Dalamar, if you cause the language rules to be tightened again I will defenestrate you.

Dalamar Stormcrow 08-12-2005 03:15 PM

defenestrate me? That sounds like a botched castration.....

Illumina Drathiran'ar 08-12-2005 03:38 PM

Hmm....

Google it.

Oh and trust me, if you're higher up than the first floor...you don't want to find out the hard way about defenestration! ;)

Ah, Jorath. That reminds me of an adjective my friends an I have coined... It's probably not original, but really:
"So [my boyfriend] and I were eating these potato things... And he ate the last one. He didn't offer it to me, and he didn't share it with me. He just ate it."

That would be an example of a Seinfeldian conversation.

I think he needs to be shot Illumina </srcsm>

Jorath Calar 08-12-2005 08:54 PM

Ah, a Seincumstance...

remember how I cringed when I heard that the first time...

Defenestrate is fun. Love that one.

Draconian is a neat one.
