Children of Bodom
Nightwish
After Forever
Epica

Jaradu 07-03-2005 05:04 PM

In big, bold, blazing letters; Rammstein

Underneath, in smaller print; Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz and Muse.

SecretMaster 07-03-2005 06:06 PM

I think I've mentioned my favorite band numerous times in the last day or two.

Attalus 07-03-2005 11:44 PM

Good Lord, I've never heard of any of those. The Who.

Jorath Calar 07-04-2005 12:41 AM

Smashing Pumpkins... Best band ever
Other favourites are Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave and Tom Waits, Radiohead, Falming Lips, Iron Maiden and way too many others I can't name now since it's 4:30 am..

Onur The Courageous 07-04-2005 07:16 AM

I've forgotten to mention King Diamond. He's a legend for black metal.

krunchyfrogg 07-11-2005 02:21 AM

Led Zeppelin

DieZel 07-11-2005 04:53 AM

Best reggae star ever- Bob Marley.
Most of the time, when I'm not chilling out, listening to Bob, Static-X are gradually killing my brain cells.

I wouldn't call King Diamond black metal, despite his make-up job. It's much more traditional power metal. I actually like his music (unlike most other power metal), but I can't stand his vocals for the life of me, so I don't listen to it all that often.

As to my own all-time favorite... tough one. Couple of years ago I'd have said Slayer for sure, and they still deserve an honorable mention of course. But nowadays I couldn't pinpoint one band which really towers above all the others in my regards (and neither can you, by the look of that humungous list of yours). Let me keep it a lot shorter: Slayer, Motörhead and Absu are on the top of my list, and my latest obsession are Korpiklaani, a Finnish folk metal outfit I've discovered only a few months ago.

philip 07-11-2005 07:05 AM

Is korpiklaani the band that made "beer beer"? All those finnish names are confusing me? That song is really fun

J'aran 07-11-2005 08:06 AM

For beer I'm working
for beer I'm fighting
for beer I do whatever I have to

Yep, that's the one.

All their songs are really fun.

Epica

At Werfpop, two days ago in Leiden, Epica did a performance. To be honest, I thought it was a bunch of crap. But then, maybe it had something to do with all the people aged 50+ who were headbanging right in front of the stage.

philip 07-12-2005 06:59 AM

Grunts weren't your thing, isn't it? I wasn't there so I can't say much more about it. And to each his own of course

Anyway I just saw I'm going to uni in Leiden next year :D

Link 07-12-2005 07:04 AM

Congrats then, but you were sure of it anyway. You had an 8 on average didn't you?

And of course, to each his own. I can only respect someone else's musical taste. After all I'm only human as well... to all you puny mortals, that is ;) :D

Timber Loftis 07-12-2005 10:04 AM

Blue Oyster Cult. Especially their 'Imaginos' ablum. Good luck finding it though, I hear tell it's nigh impossible to get these days. 'Club Ninja' was great, 'Heaven Forbid' was really good, but 'Curse of the Hidden Mirror' didn't really do it for me.

Also like Offspring, Utada Hikaru, some NOFX, and I'll say The Killers, though I've only heard one of their songs. Karen Mok has some good stuff too.

Well now it's really official Today I could check if everything went right ;) All those stupid forms from the ibgroep

robertthebard 07-12-2005 11:41 AM

Let's see, Metallica, Metallica, and did I forget to mention, Metallica. However, I'm not an old school, or new school fan. I like stuff from both schools. Having said that, I also like Evanescence, and have some obscure stuff that one of my gf's found for me, not sure if I want to know where. I'm fast becoming a big fan of Black Label Society as well. Zakk is a guitar god, as I mentioned elsewhere. System of a Down(?) is also starting to get my attention, BYOB is a really fun song.

aleph_null1 07-12-2005 04:34 PM

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Van Halen!

And in that classical section, I'd like to add:
</font>
 • Handel</font>
 • Grieg</font>
 • von Weber</font>
 • Crussel</font>
 • Mendelssohn</font>
 • Meyerbeer</font>
 • Spohr</font>
 • Shostakovich</font>
 • Rachmaninov</font>
 • Dvorak</font>
 • Villa-Lobos</font>
Just to mention a few of my favorites

Orbost 07-13-2005 04:17 AM

I think you need a little British influence in this thread:

The Smiths
Radiohead
Suede
Manic Street Preachers
Depeche Mode
New Order
Blur
Oasis

Griefmaker 07-13-2005 09:55 AM

REM and They Might Be Giants = Kick A$$!

However, Orbost also had some good bands as well.

Brayf 07-13-2005 10:07 AM

Random selection from a few different genres:

Bright Eyes
Blur
Nirvana
The Libertines
Sonic Youth
Primal Scream
Oasis
Bran Van 3000
Stereolab
The Strokes

What do you know, I think that unintentionally came out in some vague order of preference.

Tool.

Best band ever! :D

Although I'm also quite partial to a bit of Queens of the Stone Age. Suprised nobody has mentioned them yet.

Dalamar Stormcrow 07-13-2005 07:04 PM

Jane's Addiction

And the kicker.....

The Butthole Surfers :D

- Duran Duran
- Adam and the Ants
- Bananarama
- Haircut 100

Timber Loftis 07-14-2005 12:27 AM

*Shameful admission: at one time I thought Duran Duran was da shizzle-nizzle.*

Sigmar 07-14-2005 04:24 PM

Iron Maiden!!!
