the previous thread is here:

Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudbringer 04-28-2005 10:37 PM

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;)

I've now moved onto duel wielding Axes, but she looked cool I thought with her staff :D

javan 04-28-2005 11:54 PM

Awesome pictures, LZ.

Is she wearing some sort of laser backpack in the second image?

This time Darth Maul was back and brought his new invention, Lightsaberhelibackpack... lets see any jedis getting near him now...

Xen 04-29-2005 04:46 AM

Good morning all. It's sunny here, and it will be as such up until Wednesday. I have to go study now. My stepmother is having a birthday today.

Firestormalpha 04-29-2005 09:20 AM

Jorath, Darth Maul came back as a woman? hehe

Good morning all. Had some very odd dreams last night. I could remember them 15 minutes ago, but now only shadows.

Cloudbringer 04-29-2005 09:58 AM

Wow, I was thirstier than I thought! Whew, a bit woozy, now, too. :D
Anywho, I just had my last lecture of the semester, and now all I have is finals. Life is about to suck, lol! The ACS is coming up on monday, and I'm no where close to ready. By the way, thats the American Chemistry Society, a standardized test, that basically no one does well on. :( Wish me luck!

Attalus 04-29-2005 02:52 PM

Cloudy, spreading free booze into the Cafe. How do you turn a profit? :D

wellard 04-29-2005 03:04 PM

Good luck Dron_Cah

Its my brothers 50 birthday today, so i'm up (very) early to drop him off, he is going on a 4wd off road tour through the blue mountins, a present from his wife. Yesterday I gave him my present, a two hour flight over Sydney in a piper warrior with me at the controls for about twenty minutes. He seemed worried until I handed back control to my friend :D The turbulance was bad though and I nearly produced a bowl of west Texas chilli (errr thanks Bungleau)over the controls.

Talking of flying, where is Lady Blue these days?

LOL, Good luck on the finals, Dron Cah.

LZ, that's a cool screenshot! I've never played that game so I wouldn't have recognized the character portraits. Really neat graphics in the second one.

Cloudbringer 04-29-2005 03:23 PM

Wellard, that was a fantastic present you gave your brother! I'm guessing he didn't get more than one of those so he won't be returning your gift! :D That is so incredible that you can fly a plane... scares the daylights out of me to even think of being in control of one of those puppies! :D

Xen 04-29-2005 03:25 PM

Wohooooooooooo! I just came back from the shop. I am holding in my hands Guild Wars: Collector's Edition. I feel so proud. Not many people (will) have it. It's friday and I don't know what to do. I think I can't play Guild Wars since the game requires at least Geforce 3 but I have Geforce 2 MX-400. :(

Simply she wait's till everyone's good and drunk then starts charging at triple the normal rate

Ladyzekke 04-29-2005 07:54 PM

So glad it's Friday yay!

Unfortunately still trying to heal my sick fish, this is getting nuts. I've already spent a good $80 on a new heater, filter media, new air pump, air stones, and meds. Still this &^*&( fungus will not leave the fish's body. Just put in a 2nd dose of this one med, I hope it works, cause if it doesn't I have no clue what to try next. The tank is sparkling clean btw, so not a dirty tank problem, and all the water tests come out fine. Sigh...

Guess I'll go kill some stuff in Sacred for a bit, at least I'm successful in killing there LOL! :D

shamrock_uk 04-29-2005 07:58 PM

Sorry to hear about your fish Lady Z. Is the fungus definitely a 'bad' one? I'd imagine that this kind of thing happens in the wild - perhaps it would be cheaper just to leave it alone? Short of lifting the fishies out and scrubbing with a toothbrush of course

johnny 04-29-2005 08:14 PM

You sure it's a fungus and not a bruisemark or something ? You know....since you sometimes beat the fish up and stuff ? :D

Ladyzekke 04-29-2005 08:18 PM

LOL, sometimes I wish I could just reach in and grab the fish up and use my fingers to physically scrape the crap off, but the fish won't let me LOL. I don't know what kind of fungus it is, there are hundreds of funguses, bacteria and parasites that can live in an aquarium, its a world of life you cannot see in the water besides the fish. It is very difficult to find out exactly what type of fungus, etc. in a fish without extensive knowledge and definitely a microscope, which I don't have. Thing is, I've had these two fish for 10 years (only one is sick, they are in the same tank but are separated by a divider) so I'm attached to them and really am ready to fight this fungus with whatever it takes, I just don't know what to do, that's the sucky/frustrating part. Fish keeps looking at me too when I walk up to the tank, like he's saying "c'mon dude fix me like you always do" and it's sad cause I DO always fix them, but this time it's different, and I don't know why. Could be the age of the fish, I have no idea how long African Synodontis Catfish (Lake Malawi in Africa) live.

[ 04-29-2005, 08:21 PM: Message edited by: ladyzekke ]

Ladyzekke 04-29-2005 08:20 PM

LOL, I don't beat the fish up Johnny. I just felt like it when they started fighting last year, hence the divider! Glad I did that too cause it's kept the other fish from catching the fungus from hell.

When you're down on your luck
And you ain't got a buck
In London, you're a goner.
And even London Bridge
Has fallen down
And moved to Arizona
Now I know why

And I'll substantiate the rumor
That the English sense of humor
Is drier than the Texas sands.
You can put up your dukes
Go bet your boots
I'll be leavin' here as soon as I can.

I wanna go home with the armadillo
Country music from amarillo and abilene
The prettiest women and the friendliest people you ever seen.
And here I thought you made it up on volume... :D

Cool gift, Wellard And you're welcome for the new catchphrase ;) I think I like it... even though someone else came up with it.

*yawn* We got eleven yards of woodchips delivered a week ago Thursday... and every evening so far has been spent in moving woodchips. I should be done tomorrow... which is good, because my in-laws are coming tomorrow for the weekend.

Spreading the woodchips is easy... getting the ground ready (weeded and so on) before you do it is the hard part. My kids have been helping, using their snow shovels to load woodchips into the wheelbarrow. They think it's fun... I'll remember *THAT* for the future.

'Course, it'd be even easier if I didn't notice the dandelions in the yard. There aren't a lot (which is the way I like it), but I know from experience that it's best to pull the buggers as best you can as soon as you see them. Total time between wheelbarrows of woodchips: 20 minutes. Total time to load and unload woodchips: 4 minutes. Balance: getting the @#%^@% out of the grass.

And it's now too late to get any good gaming in, 'cause it's already tomorrow and the rest of the family gets up early. Plus we have to do this housecleaning thing before my in-laws show up... :D

Sir Goulum 04-30-2005 11:38 AM

Argh! Someobe save me from this blasted weather. It was all fine last week, 20-25C but today... snow! I swear, Mother Nature has some grudge against me.

Ladyzekke 04-30-2005 08:36 PM

Oh man so glad we are at least warm enough to keep snow away! Still not feeling like spring enough for me though, it's almost May for crying out loud!

Playing Sacred tonight, the kids in the towns are lagging my game, and totally without purpose. Why so many running around is beyond me, except for irritating purposes LOL. They insult me too.

LOL, this one cracked me up, not just cause what he says to me, but he really reminds me from his portrait of Someguy LOL!

johnny 04-30-2005 08:40 PM

I've heard that quite a few times myself Wendy. :D

RoSs_bg2_rox 04-30-2005 08:45 PM

LZ, the height of popularity. :D

Howz it goin folks? I'm knackered, came home from work, got changed and had a shower, then went down to the pub and watched a local band play, stayed for some drinks and just got back. Luckily someone stayed sober enough to drive us back.

johnny 04-30-2005 09:34 PM

Damn Scottish drunkasses. :D

Ladyzekke 04-30-2005 09:40 PM

LOL Johnny! The town seems to have a problem with how my character is dressed, no idea why LOL.

Ross, sounds like you had a good, normal evening. :D

I'm now playing Sacred and watching Man Thing on the SciFi Channel. Yep, I am. Watching it. Man Thing... heh. Hey it's a tree guy I've got to see what it looks like at least LOL.

johnny 04-30-2005 09:54 PM

Then stop dressing your character as the hoodrat. :D

... What? You're silly Wendy, that doens't look anything like me, at all.

Cloudbringer 05-01-2005 12:03 AM

It's a penguin! Hello, SomeGuy!

Well, gang, I'm off to get some sleep! Been a good day, despite the rain. Hubby and a friend and I went car shopping for our friend, did some errands, had lunch and enjoyed the day as best one can when it's damp and grey out.

johnny 05-01-2005 10:58 AM

Heh..i finally got into Sacred, it was collecting dust for quite a long time now, but this game is pretty cool, can't believe i never looked into this before. I think it's better than Dungeon Siege, from what i've seen so far.

Sir Goulum 05-01-2005 11:03 AM

Have you encountered any characters like in LZ's picture yet?

johnny 05-01-2005 11:24 AM

I'm still relatively early in the beginning. I've only encountered robbers, goblins, dark elves, and a few mages here and there, nothing unusual i'd say. Most RPG's start with battles against goblins and such, which are good enough to get some XP before the real work starts i suppose.

I'm a battlemage, level 6 now, and i'm still running errands in the first town, which is a huge map btw, i've been lost more than once. :D

Btw...i've been looking for a decent walkthrough, but there doesn't seem to be one, or at least nothing came up for me. Does anyone know of a good walkthrough ? I don't think you really need one for this game, but i don't wanna miss out on a lot of secret passages or hideouts with magical items in it and stuff. I've heard of a hidden dungeon underneath the old villa, in which a vampire lives. Naturally i wanna go inthere and see what's there to loot. :D But i can't find a way in.

Ladyzekke 05-01-2005 01:03 PM

Just use the Tab key Johnny and use that map to get to the blackened places you haven't been to before. I like to scour ever single area too so I miss out on nothing. There are caves and stuff to the South of the town of Belevue, and also to the east. I followed the water a lot to go around the town, found this cave to the very east of Belevue with a Seraphim trapped there by a mage. Good luck with your Battle Mage, it's one of the hardest characters to play with I've heard.

johnny 05-01-2005 02:45 PM

Really ? So far things are going pretty smooth, i have a kickass wizardstaff, plus casting fireball every now and then makes short work of most opponents, except for this Orcish champion i just ran into. He keeps killing me with only one or two blows from his warhammer. At the moment there's three other people traveling with me, but they're not partymembers or anything, i just have to get them somewhere, i forgot where though LOL

It's nice that you can use horses in this game, it makes traveling a lot easier. Too bad that i bought one though, five minutes later i found one in a forest. :D

Ladyzekke 05-01-2005 04:37 PM

Glad you aren't having any problems with your battlemage Johnny. Oh and just look at the big map (the Tab map works too if you are close) and you will see your subquest areas as blue dots, just go to the dot to take your companions. Main quests are yellow door looking icons. You run into people here and there in Sacred that need you to take them somewhere, yep. I remember last year, before I quit playing Sacred to wait for the final patch, I had to escort a pig LOL! Thing is, I think those companions also divide your XPs (not the pig though LOL), so I get them to their destination right away. I've never used the horses. I don't mind plodding my way through the map slowly, and you can't fight on a horse. They are cool looking though.

Ivelliis 05-01-2005 05:06 PM

If your still looking for a walkthrough johnny, click here

Tottenham won today 5-1. They needed to score 5 goals to go ahead of us in the Premiership to get the final European place. We play them next week, and then the team below us the week after. If we beat them next week we should qualify for Europe. Fingers crossed eh?

I've done pretty much nothing today. This week my dad bought himself a new PC (damn spoilt parents), so I got his old desktop instead of my laptop. WoW actually plays on it, so I made a new account (We used to use the same account, now I have my own so I don't have to wait until he stops hogging it until I can get on). It took ages downloading the patch, I told him "Why not find it on the web instead of using Blizzard downloader". Bah, parents never listen. Level seven hunter so far. They might be pretty sucky in PvP, but hunters are a fun class. Haven't quite mastered posting on the WoW Europe forums, it won't let me select a character, even though I only have one character to choose from. Does it auto-select if you only have one character made?

Just posting here while the break is on, I'm watch the Godfather. Finishes past midnight, just an excuse to stay up. Only been on an hour but it's not bad at all, just a bit long ;)

You're wrong about that last bit Wendy, i have been fighting from a horseback for the last few hours. I can do damage with normal weapons, and of course, being a mage and all, cast spells. It helped me a great deal too, since i have to flee quite often when i find myself facing a regiment of enemies once again. I'm not protected against normal weapons, so a few hits with a sword will kill me easily. Right now i'm at level 10, and already it's no longer a walk in the park anymore. I keep running into Priests of Samarra or something like that, and they cast some sort of entangling spell so i can't move for a few seconds, and then their henchmen finish me off with arrows and swords. It's getting pretty tough in those woods now, and basically i have no idea where i'm going. I am to report to a soldier in some town, i think he'll give me some quests, but i'm having one hell of a time making it through the wilderness.

I've also encountered a Minotaur and an Orcish Champion, who were both way too tough for me, so i had to chicken out of those two fights as well.
