the previous thread is here:

Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudbringer 04-14-2005 02:00 PM

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;)

Cloudbringer 04-14-2005 02:00 PM

Hello and Happy mid April to you all! :D

Dron_Cah 04-14-2005 02:17 PM

Woot!
Edit: Alright, so anyways, I just had two tests, this morning, and spent the last todays studying for them, nonstop. I'm really I did well. Anyways, I went to English today, and not a single soul was there, so I'm guessing we dont have class today. Otherwise, I'm skipping it anyways. :D I dunno if I mentioned this, earlier, but I went to a Chevelle concert last week, and plan on going to another concert, this weekend. Should be fun, especially after all the stress of studying 11 hours a day, and then major tests. Well, I'm going to stare blankly at the screen, now, as my brain continues to simmer in its own juices.

Here here, Drew! Thank God almighty this week is almost over. I had to read a book for Euro history, do a 7 page English paper, and then I had a Calculus test Monday and a Chem test tonight. I feel ya on all of that!

Me and J00dizzle are going home with Tony and Nick this weekend...gonna see the wonder that is Pikeville, KY, and see this county-fair type thing they call "Hillbilly Days." Personally, I want them to take Julean out to do some target shooting, as I always think it's funny when you give a gun to a person from the 'burbs. :D

Cloudbringer 04-14-2005 03:46 PM

This week's over for me! My hubby and I are car shopping tomorrow.

Just cleared up some things on my desk, made a few notes for next week and am eagerly anticipating my time to get out of here! :D

Ladyzekke 04-14-2005 08:05 PM

Good luck Sis re choosing a car!

I'm Dungeon Sieging it again tonight, ha! Fighting all sorts of Mega Monsters, like birds...

The Nature Mage tries to identify the odd bird species up close, intrigued by it's weirdness....
http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/ladyzekke/bbbird.gif

Things turned Ugly quickly though, the second he stared into it's dead eyes. The fighters stood for a minute in bewilderment at the entire strange scenario before them...

Heh, my sister had a joyride with one of my computers. I don't know what website she browse through. But when I run my avg it turn out that the computer was infected with like 6 trojan virus. Thank goodness for the new version of avg for it has succeeded in deleting those.

Next I run adaware, to my horror it picked up nearly 100 'uninvinted guest'. The adaware crashed when it tries to delete them. So I have to manually delete them.

Spybot detected yet another 30 or so 'uninvited guest' luckily this time it succeeded in deleting them.

After that, I gave my sister a long lecture. because of all these problem. Now I'm late for work. shesh! :(

wellard 04-14-2005 11:30 PM

Dron_Cah and Ilander ugh! I'm so glad the days multiple exams all close together are over for me. I can now drink beer safe in the knowledge that I’m only killing unwanted brain cells

Kakero you need more than a word with your sister you need to put a password on your PC to stop her from using it again.

Ilander 04-15-2005 12:42 AM

...wow...I haven't had a headache like this since finals.

I did well on the test, though. Multiple Choice Chem test, got a 22 of 25...and there MIGHT be a curve, though I doubt it. Either way, I did better than most of the people in the room...yay Stoichiometry!

Hivetyrant 04-15-2005 12:51 AM

Damn, its been a while since I have been in here.....

Gah, its annoying working...I dont have time to make a new sig :D But I will definantly have time tonight and over the weekend...And I have the perfect idea....

Yeah, so....Whats up everyone? long time no speak...Today is fun, finally doing alot more at work, today I set up 3 Dell 28" Flat panle moniters with USB 2.0 support and card readers They are awesome..... But they wont let me take one home :D

Link 04-15-2005 05:55 AM

I'm bored :( My own computer is dead, and I really should study but I'm not in the mood.

johnny 04-15-2005 09:57 AM

Why the hell doesn't any shopowner accept 100€ bills ? What are they afraid of ? Every time i have a few of those bills i have to go to a bank and change em into smaller bills.

Link 04-15-2005 10:44 AM

The question is, of course, where did *you* get those bills in the first place :D

Ilander 04-15-2005 11:50 AM

They're a nuisance about them here in the states, too...though I believe it's mostly a security issue, keeping the amount of money in the cash register low so that they can prevent robberies.

EDIT: WHOOHOOO!!!! I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE DOUBLE POSTING, BUT I MADE A 95% ON MY CALCULUS III TEST!!!! YAY!

Good evninga all. I'm very tired I came back from football match. I had a very succesfull day today. I had exam from biology (wich I wasn't aware of) and got a B. Then I had an exam from language and yesterday I haven't learned almost anything but got B again. (I was lucky with questions)
Then an hour later I had an exam from Italian language, will see how that goes. Anyway I feel that this weekend is very welcome and I deserve it!

It's what they give me every friday Link, some people call it a paycheck. You have to go outside and do what you're asked to do though, would that be too much of a problem ? :D

Azred 04-15-2005 05:47 PM

Watch out, Ilander. If you keep performing well on math and chemistry tests you might turn into someone like me.

I can reply in so many ways to this, but i won't. Somewhere along the road i started to respect you. :D

Azred 04-15-2005 11:57 PM

At first, I wasn't sure how to respond to that. After a couple of minutes, I decided that a simple "thank you" would be appropriate...as well as to buy you a round of beer.

On a lighter note...flattery will get you nowhere. Flattery with a bribe just might.

johnny 04-16-2005 12:02 AM

heheh...i know, but at least it did make you bring out the beer, and that's my one and only purpose on this planet. :D

Edit: and this was absolutely necessary to correct all the typos. Beer doesn't improve that skill, that's for sure.

Had too much beer already, Johnny? ;)

Bungleau 04-16-2005 10:37 PM

Evening, all. Just finished up a long travel trip... I've driven almost a thousand miles since Wednesday night, and while I enjoy driving, I've now had enough, thanks

Spent the latter part of this joyously warm afternoon doing yard and house work. Put together the power washer that I picked up last summer and started cleaning the green "stuff" off the siding. It worked amazingly well, and I discovered something, too -- our front porch was tiled by the previous owner, and I accidentally found out that the grout between the tiles is really white! All this time, I thought it was brown...

Then I finished rearranging the deck... taking one section of wall and swapping it with the stairs. Ended up as a longer project than I expected because I didn't have a real pry bar last week... just some piddly little six-inch thing that's good for lifting small nails and denting wood

Got inside, got the kids to bed, and I might even have a chance to game tonight... except I'm really, really tired.... and I've got to get up at 7 again tomorrow morning (which is sleeping in for this week).

Sir Goulum 04-16-2005 11:14 PM

Man, I'd be ecstatic if I could drive 1000 miles.

Ladyzekke 04-16-2005 11:25 PM

Long drives wear out pretty quickly Sir Goulum LOL. Do it once and you'll see.

I didn't have any power washing experiences today myself, still too cold outside, I'm hybernating until Spring really gets here, and I mean REALLY gets here, not the touch-and-go crap we've had the past few weeks!

But since the weather has been cold, I have accomplished much in my DS game LOL, am in Chapter 4 now. Fighting worms with wings and dopplegangers that look like one of my party members. I didn't know how much my main character sucked until my party killed her a zillion times over LOL. Doh!

Sir Goulum 04-16-2005 11:29 PM

Well, it sure seems like fun time when you've only driven 3 times or so. ;)

Link 04-17-2005 05:13 AM

Ditto that, Sir G. I'm 20 but I haven't got my driver's license yet. Sure as hell would like to drive around, but I simply cannot afford it. Both time and money-wise.

Cloudbringer 04-17-2005 05:05 PM

Still car shopping but we're getting closer to buying one. Still have to check the Hondas but may end up with a Subaru.

Sir Goulum 04-17-2005 05:10 PM

Subaru's are good cars. What kind are you thinking?

I never got a drivers license till I was about 31 years old. I was licensed on Boeing 747 and used to 'drive them' from the terminal into the hangers and do engine runs etc on them before I could drive a car. When the wife got pregnant I thought it might be time to learn to drive. Of course I've had a bike license since I was 17 (yes they had motorbikes back then)

Sir Goulum 04-17-2005 07:20 PM

31?!! Man, how did you survive that long without it?

johnny 04-17-2005 08:45 PM

Well, the footballfans overhere finally messed things up for everyone, soon no fans are allowed to travel to away games anymore, it's gonna be a nationwide banning from all the stadiums for the visiting side.

Just when you think we've reached rockbottom, some knuckleheads come along and make things even worse. Two trains were completely ravaged, and will never be able to fully function again, 1600 fans from Amsterdam were sent back to where they came from, but ended up roaming the railwaytracks, greatly causing delays on every trainstation in the Netherlands, 4 policeofficers got wounded, and one Feyenoord fan had his pecker blown off when a homemade bomb exploded in his pocket. Just another footballsunday in the Netherlands.

Sir Goulum 04-17-2005 08:51 PM

How come you guys are so insane over there? I mean, it's just a game....

Not to some obviously, it's a matter of life or death.

Dron_Cah 04-17-2005 09:58 PM

Alright, in light of that, the American-bashing has come to an end.
"Well, you guys are lazy, and fat."
"Yeah? Well at least we dont go crazy and blow our own peckers off because of soccer!"

Yeah, so, anyways...

So, life is good, right now. I've got an apartment for next year lined up, so that's going to be really cool. Very pumped for that. No tests this week, so that's good. Got to see my parents today, and the weather has been great! Saw a squirrel going crazy at five stories, which I enjoyed thoroughly, and I'm just high on life, right now. Roleplay here is doing well, and good time is being had by all, lol! And I'm sooooo pumped for this semster to be over!! Oh, and last chemistry lab, tomorrow! Ah, wonderful mood! Hope everyone else is doing well, too.

Cloudbringer 04-17-2005 11:43 PM

We're looking at the impreza at the moment. Test drove one yesterday and liked it alot.

Sad story Johnny but at least this part was funny, A Darwin award contender for sure

BTW are Inter Milan and Juventus getting banned as well?

Link 04-18-2005 03:51 AM

Even though I'm a Feyenoord fan, I'm not in the least proud of what happened yesterday. Actually, I think all those bozo's who caused an uproar represent the skidmarks in the underpants of society (kudo's to Ben Stiller [Dodgeball] for that one) and should probably get a lifelong restriction from visiting soccer games.
I know Inter will be banned for some time, not sure about Juventus though. The rioting overthere took place outside the stadium and wasn't of any influence on the game itself. They'll probably get away with a fine or something. And i'm pretty sure the Liverpool fans aren't clean in this either, so if they fine Juve, they should fine Liverpool too, just to keep things straight. What happened in Milan was just absurd, it almost seemed like it was raining fire from the sky, i can't believe the fans managed to smuggle so much fireworks with them into the stadium, don't they have security overthere ? And if they indeed have security, is there something else they do besides picking their noses all day long ?
