hey, you know when a flag has been up for a long time and it starts getting ripped.
What do you do with it? i mean doesn't it feel weird throwing it in a bin, and obviously you can't burn it, so what do you do with it? |

Ditto what Arvon said. Burning is the correct method for disposing of an American flag (not sure about the other 180+ countries in the world)... it's just not done in the "waving it through the streets" method. With dignity and respect... and your local veterans organization will probably be happy to handle it.

Never leave a flag up for a long time, here it should not be put up before 7 am and must be taken down before midnight... by law, imagine that. Also good idea to take them down when the wind goes over 12 m/s, they last much longer.

AFAIK, the official rule in the US is that it can't be up in the dark unless it is spotlighted. It's all about respect...
|
I've never believed in flags, so I'd say throw it away. If you happen to respect it more than that, can't help you. I don't know what you australians do with your flags.

I just throw it away. No rules about flags in the country.

thanks,
I'll at least wrap it up nicely or something. |
So you burn your flags in the States too? Newer seen that on TV :D
On a more serious tone. I think burning is the only way to rid your flag. Iron Greasel would you honestly just throw our loved blue and white to garbage bin? |
It's just a bit of cloth, do whatever you like with it.
