Hoo boy, first they blame video games for dodgy reasons but now this!?!?!?!

Quote:

"A man is in custody for allegedly stabbing 3 people to death in King of Prussia, PA last week. Now it appears that the district attorney believes there may be a link between the murders and the Dungeons and Dragons RPG. From the article: 'I mean, you have many, many stab wounds and those 'Dungeons and Dragons' fantasy games involve swords and knives and daggers and things of that nature. There may be a connection but I can't say for sure.'"

ocellis 03-30-2005 05:28 AM

Yeah, I didnt get that bit either.

Bozos of Bones 03-30-2005 05:59 AM

I think it's a place... well, it's the most sound explanation... But JESUS! It's like saying "A man was shot in a robbery, and I've seen policemen with firearms, so I think there is a connection between the two." All these blame-tours are really getting on my nerves.

Stratos 03-30-2005 06:03 AM

I assume King of Prussia is a location, a town or somesuch.

Anyway, Hivetyrant, do you have a link to the article? Judging from the short snippet I don't see the connection between DnD and the stabbings.

krunchyfrogg 03-30-2005 06:57 AM

Link?

Aragorn1 03-30-2005 07:03 AM

Perhaps they meant the kingdom of Prussia.

Gangrell 03-30-2005 07:04 AM

People are idiots.

End of story.

RevRuby 03-30-2005 07:12 AM

So does our kitchen. And the shed outside even has an axe in it. Has the stabber even played Dungeons and Dragons?

There is no such thing dude, we have left the dark ages quite a while ago, in case you haven't noticed. :D

I can't believe they keep relating acts of morons to games, i guess it's easy pickings or something, maybe even a reason to drive the prices up even further.

Every couple of years they try to blame the act of some whack-job to dungeons and Dragons, or video game..... Are these people kidding me?

I read that article that Rickard posted, of course the guy admitted "intentional injury" he went to his house with a knife...... Is intentional injury a reallegal term?

Sure you can. The real link is between property and violence -- a link that's as old as time. It's like blaming lawnmowers for it if a guy gets angry and shoots his neighbor for stealing a lawnmower. It's not the lawnmower manufacturer's fault -- duh.

Chewbacca 03-30-2005 11:40 AM

All this time I've been trying to cast fireball on people that tick me off when I could have just stabbed them. Doh! DnD made me fail to kill people!

Stratos 03-30-2005 11:46 AM

Yes, stabbing people to death is more effective than burning them alive. ;)

OK that one is weird too. Like all these cases. I wonder when I will learn how to cast Limited Wish spell so I can say: "I wish to be rich.". :D

Morgeruat 03-30-2005 12:04 PM

and it would work too, for about 30 minutes (gotta love the "limited" bit)

pritchke 03-30-2005 12:26 PM

I blame lawyers for our crumbling society. No offense Timber but some of your peers need a good smack across the head for coming up with crap like this as a defense.

One question though isn't the district attorney the prosecution? That would make it even worse so he deserves two smacks.

When I stab people it's usually after watching Troy. Playing Diablo 2 does cause me to smite people with dustbin lids, though.

First of all, you're using the wrong spell. Magic Missile will be just as effective at blasting most 0-level mugs out of existence and it never misses. Plus, you won't burn down the store when you cast it. :D
