I'm pregnant and will be having another daughter in August. Any good name suggestions? Not silly ones, but ones you would actually consider naming a child? I'd love to hear them.

You HAD to say not silly ones, didn'cha? Because there's a chapter in this here book called "Words That Would Make Nice Names For Babies, If It Weren't For Their Unsuitable Meanings"... Oh, heck. Let's list a few anyway. You'll get a bunch of Serious Responses before long, anyway.

Angina
Calorie
Dyslexia
Feta
Plaice
Reciprocity
Uvula

Or Seven. Beautiful name, for a boy or girl. Especially a girl.

You are not getting seven and now get out of here.

Oh snap, who's just mad that I beat him to it?

The thing is... I kind of made a promise to the widow Mantle...

Okay, enough joking. Here's your name. Ready? Soda.

You should know better than to expect non-silly names for children on this forum. Listen to these folk and the best you can hope for is, say, Cattie-Brie or Selune or something. Mystra is nice.

For my part, I'd suggest the following:

Delores
Mulva
Gipple
or
Pencil

Congratulations, by the way.

Hello Salinye, nice to meet you. I dont come around much any more, but I use to alot. Takes guts to come here for serious baby name advice. ;)
If I was to ever have another girl (I have 4 kids now, including 1 girl named Emily, and am done) I would name her Madison.

BTW, can I ask where approx. in WA you are? I am in Tri-Cities.

DragonSlayer25 03-27-2005 02:42 PM

Salinye, do you happen to teach at a High School in NW Oregon

Cloudbringer 03-27-2005 03:39 PM

I'll buck the trend! ;)

Melinda, Caitlin, Kaya, Janine, Dariya, Heather, Kendall, Casey, Jocelyn, Belinda and Zaphod... Ok Ok, so not the last one.... :D

Congrats on impending new addition!

Salinye 03-27-2005 03:43 PM

RevRuby~

It's interesting you mention Justice as it has been on our list of boy name possibilities since the first time I was pregnant. :0) I like it as a girl name too, though.

LordKathen~

Nice to meet you as well! I live in King County, other side of the state! :0)

Dragonslayer~

I do not live in Oregon or teach highschool, but am curious to know what led you to ask.

Everyone~

I suppose I could give you some info that might help in the name suggestion area. I already have 4 children, two boys and two girls.

Emma, Carter and the twins are Avery and Anna.

This baby is supposed to be a girl and the middle name will be Maureen (pronounced "Mahr-reen" not "Mo-reen") regardless, so the first name has to sound good with that. :0)

We always pick at least three names and then wait until the baby is born and look at him/her then decide. So far I have two names and need at least a third, but I have to like the third as much as the other two for it to go on the list. :0) I'll fill you in on the other two when I have a complete list. :0) *grins*

Keep the suggestions coming! I appreciate them!

~Salinye

Jorath Calar 03-27-2005 07:43 PM

Okey here are some names I like...

Nina
Christine (doesn't go that well with Maureen, but I like it on it's own)
Iris
Cate
Linda
Hera
Natasha
Ashley
Gia
Yolanda (no okey I'm out )

DragonSlayer25 03-27-2005 07:59 PM

Your living in Wash. and having a girl due in August prompted me to ask, because one of my teachers is having a girl in Aug.

Marathon 03-27-2005 08:53 PM

Our only child is Ava Elizabeth.

If our next one is a girl it'll be Sofie (or Sofia) - whichever one my wife likes better. I always liked Allison and Molly as well.

Congratulations!

SomeGuy 03-27-2005 09:31 PM

Elizabeth
Valerie
Kristen
Paige
Alexandra
Judy
Jacee

Just thought I'd list a few, these are names that I'd like to name my daughter when/if the time ever arrises.

Bungleau 03-27-2005 10:26 PM

Keeping with your current children, it can't be *too* outlandish or too plain (these are my kids: Bob, Sue, Lisa, Tom, and Anastasia).

I'm thinking Sophia, as already mentioned, is a good fit. Or Maria... nah, Maria Maureen doesn't flow well. In fact, rule out all the M-names.

Lisa might work, or Justine. Hmmm... nope. Justine Maureen doesn't work well to my ears. Take out all the names that end in "ine" or some variant.

Eva, perhaps. Holly (or Ivy, but that's a little more exotic).

In any case, congrats on the impending arrival, and may things run smoothly throughout...

Callum 03-28-2005 04:49 AM

To go with Maureen?

*devilish grin*

Sub Maureen
Aqua Maureen
Ultra Maureen
Navy Maureen

I think Aqua is a lovely name ;)

Salinye 03-28-2005 12:40 PM

Oh brother!

No military fanatical names! It's "Mahr-Reen" Not "Mo-reen" or Marine SIR YES SIR!

I've seen some good names so far, a few I really like and will have to see what the hubby thinks.
