Yay, finally got myself a laptop!!!!! Its awesome!! I love it!!! erm yeah, that about it, I never thought I would even be able to play games on it
I loaded up Worms 3d (first thing I saw) and it was (Very slightly) choppyat some parts :( And I even decided to install Breed to see how that would go
I could fire the Ubergun whilst the ship flies arounf that radar island on the first level, then we landed and it was un bearable, so I did what all inteligent people should do..Installed the Omega drivers!!!! and the game runs prefectly as do most, which im happy with ;)
Just thought id let you all know, and ask if there are any tips I should take into mind when it comes to laptop caretaking...
I used to have a pentium 133 ages ago but the fan dies and parts on the motherboard literally melted :D

Oh, for those who care, its a Dell Latitude D600
1.6 Centrino Pentuim M
512MB RAM
Radeon 9000 mobile
60Gig HDD
DVD/CD-RW
and many other cool features, the main one being that I actualy connect at 52Kb/s...dont laugh my Desktop connects at 33Kb/s...So it looks like im playing EFU on this beast...When I get HOTU....

Nice I'm hoping to get a laptop soon. Just have to settle in to the house repayments and put some money away for it.

Nice Laptop!

Happy Laptop, HT!!! The hubby and I want to get one someday but right now we have a new car to buy and an anniversary trip to save for so I think that's gonna wait a while. I'll just vicariously enjoy laptop ownership through you! :D

Scroll bar and the lappy together at last, how'd you wicky wicky learn to scroll so fast?

Ilander 03-22-2005 11:25 AM

LOL @ that Sigmar...Hey, Hive...what are you gonna name it? Mine's "Lappy de Muerte" and I'm quite pleased with it, though the graphics card and hdd are lagging a bit behind yours.

what graphics card have you got?

Ilander 03-22-2005 03:08 PM

It's a Radeon IGP 345, I'm pretty sure, which is enough to run old-school games and newer games that don't push the envelope too much...

Runs Counter Strike Condition Zero, Unreal Tournament (the original), and BGII well enough, though Morrowind is STILL a little bit beyond it.

It runs it, true, but it also will run KoTOR and NWN...but by "run," I mean lag me to death unless I set all the options all the way down.

Hivetyrant 03-22-2005 03:17 PM

damn :(
Hmm, your right, now I need a name.....And Lappy is taken.... I will most likely call it "The beast" as I call everything that I like
My two SATA drives are called Beast 1 and Beast 2

Kakero 03-22-2005 10:29 PM

It's not just burning your legs, but also the possibility that it doesn't do well with the male's *gets his dictionary* fertility ;)

CNN report on laptop and fertility

There was more on the research somewhere later in december I think, but I can't find it :(

Intrepid 03-23-2005 06:17 AM

Yeah, laptops are cool, mine has all but replaced my desktop, apart from storage.
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100, Pentium 4 3.2 ghz with HT, 1 gig of dual channel pc 3200 ram, radeon mobility 9800 with 256 meg of ram, 80 gig HDD, WXUGA ultra high resoloution screen, 8x DVD + - burner, onboard lan, sound, network, modem, standard video out, dvi out, s-video out, 4 usb ports, wireless networking, bluetooth, infared, firewire, and pci mini bay.
Battery life is about 2.5 hours when not under load, so it's ok, but i leave it plugged in most of the time anyway.

Azeral 03-23-2005 06:21 AM

And it cost an arm and a leg right?

Intrepid 03-23-2005 06:48 AM

it wasn't too expensive, it was within my budget.

Hivetyrant 03-23-2005 07:06 AM

what was you budget moneybags??? :D

Intrepid 03-23-2005 07:09 AM

Well, you're the one with the new system, and the new laptop, and the dual flat monitors, so i should be asking you about your budget.
