Which is better? Free sex for life or a commited relationship with a nice woman?

SomeGuy 02-07-2005 09:31 PM

A relationship with a woman. That's what I'm waiting for. It'd be nice knowing that the person actually cared about then just some sort of one night stand. I dunno if this topic will last long... just depends on where it goes I suppose. *shrug*

Sir Degrader 02-07-2005 09:39 PM

I would hope that most people would say the second one, and I also hope that people take this seriously.

Harkoliar 02-07-2005 09:43 PM

im in the 2nd at the moment. so im happy

Dace De'Briago 02-07-2005 09:44 PM

Serial monogamy seems to be the way of things ATM.

RevRuby 02-07-2005 09:45 PM

hmmm...i'm quite happy with my husband, but a long term relationship with a woman doesn't sound like a bad idea!

lol, on the srious note-

long term relationships are ALWAYS better, IMHO.

Violet 02-07-2005 09:47 PM

Steve and I have been "boyfriend/girlfriend" since we were 11 years old.

We'll be married 25 years this June.

I can't give you his point of view (unless I go ask him and then come back to type it, which is just too much trouble right now and "of course" his answer would be a commited relationship lol) but as for myself, nothing has been more worthwhile to me than having a lasting relationship with somone I can truly call me friend. He can tell me I "look fat in that" and I know he's being honest.

I've seen childhood friends go through divorce and custody battles - drug and alcohol abuse in order to deal - failed relationship after failed relationship. Some seem to be so far beyond being frustrated and lonely that they are ready to be left alone for the rest of their lives. Others seem to be content with having an occasional partner for sex that knows where the door is and when to leave.

Just ask yourself what you want to look back on when you are eighty. It should make the decision pretty easy, either way.
Unfortunately, finding someone you can tolerate that long is another story! ;)
(I know, they have to be able to tolerate you too, I was j/k).

spydar 02-07-2005 10:10 PM

currently am in the 2nd one, and my boyfriend and I are retardedly happy. we're one of those cutesy couples that people must just wanna hit upside the head, I know that about a year ago I definitely woulda smacked us. but I would hope there aren't too many people who would choose the 1st one.

johnny 02-07-2005 10:12 PM

Monogamy is fine and all, but not for me. Life is fairly short, and there's so many islands to explore. Can't stick around on one and the same island for too long.

Dron_Cah 02-07-2005 10:32 PM

I'm looking forward to a relationship. So far, no dice. Anyways, if you guys haven't figured it out, yet, I'm a Catholic, so monogamy is the only thing I'm even considering. ;)

Absynthe 02-07-2005 10:46 PM

And the good news is... they're not mutually exclusive.
It is possible to have a long-term, committed relationship with someone and still bang them like a screen door in a hurricane.
Sex is always fun, but significantly moreso with someone you love, trust, and are emotionally intimate with.

Hehe, nice one Absynthe.

Well, for me, I'd have to say the second one because I'm in it. Nothing wrong with being in it for the long run, it's made me a happy guy so far

Arledrian 02-07-2005 11:05 PM

I couldn't live without the spice of life that is different partners. Take that away from someone and I think you rob them of one of the most fundamental needs there is. Human beings are so innately curious and always craving more, always wanting what they can't have. I'm no different. I've been in several fairly long relationships, but honestly, the thought of sticking with one person for a long time scares me. Even so, you do learn a lot of things in being with someone. At the end of the day though, I'd always prefer to be free, to be able to go and do as I please. I dislike having someone to answer to and honestly, I get bored if I'm stuck in the same rut for too long.

I can't even see myself getting married or having children, at least not for a very long time. I'm sure this will change as I age, but for now, I'm happy to mingle.

Jerr Conner 02-07-2005 11:06 PM

Long term relationship with a guy is what I want. Actually, ever since i was a kid I was always wanting something long term.

Cloudbringer 02-07-2005 11:15 PM

Married for life and very happy with it. LOL, loved your answer Absynthe! ;) FWIW, there's plenty of 'spice' to be found in a committed relationship.

Cloudbringer 02-07-2005 11:16 PM

Oh and in MOD mode here- keep this clean, folks or we'll have to close it. Since this is not specifically a 'sex' topic but more a relationship topic it's ok for now, but let's keep it that way.

Q'alooaith 02-07-2005 11:28 PM

Funny anit it, talk all day of painfull and just plain nasty things but mention the S word and a certain nations people get right upset..

Clinical oberseration.

Hmm, I'd be tempted by relationship but to be totaly honnet neither option hold's much appeal to me.

Concerning the free sex for life: Does it have to be with the same person or can a I pick a new person every day? :D

Sinteuil 02-08-2005 05:16 AM

You mean all this time I didn't have to pay for it?

I am indecisive. I would like to be free and worry about nobody except myself but it would be nice if I was with someone. And if I do get married it would be at least in my very late twenties.

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 02-08-2005 06:17 AM

As you can see
she has captured my heart to be
her beauty and smile
her heart as wide as a mile

the only thing thats bad
her touch so far.. so sad
another country she stays
my home country, i pray

a month for once a year
do i see her, her love so clear
a month can i only afford
i wait.. til we can just see each other in our own accord ;)

yeah i know, long distance relationship sucks.. but the reward is worth it.

wellard: its been awhile mate :D . we should meet up for a beer sometime. it would be cool to catch up

ROTFL! Great post Absynthe - I didn't even read any further posts in this thread after yours because I've found out you're right and I agree with you.
Not that I think relationships should be entered with the idea that they are "for life" - not at all. But I find the opposite attitude just as short-sighted.

Sex for life should be fun, however there is always this tinkling feeling that there is a hole in your life, like a certain something is missing. No matter how much you enjoy this sexual relationship with this woman it never seem to get rid of this hole. It's like you are laughing but you are only laughing from the outside. Deep inside you, you feel sad and lonely....

That's the biggest nonsense i've ever heard. I've been in a few long term relationships, so i know what i'm talking about. One night stands are just as satisfying to me as anything else. When i want a glass of milk, do i need to buy the whole cow ?

Sad and lonely ? I don't think so.

Spirits forever 02-08-2005 03:14 PM

a long term commited relationship of course XD

</font>
To you it's a satifying thing. To me it's not. One night stand isn't that satifying when you are so afraid of "pumping diesel into the car". So afraid of getting a "return on deposit". You know what I'm talking about do you? ;)

johnny 02-08-2005 05:55 PM

Erm...no...i'm afraid not.

Diesel ? Returning deposits ? Spank my ass and call me Charlie, but i didn't understand a word of what you just said. :D

OMGROFLMAO @ Johnny

I'm a Teenager. What the hell's a commited relationship? ;)

Being the soppy sod that I am though, I'd rather end up in a Commited Relationship personally. If it worked for Al Bundy it'll work for me.

Kakero 02-08-2005 06:10 PM

Ahh...then I better not corrupt people in this board any futher. Now if you would excuse me. I gotto " play some golf ".
