the original thread used to be here
the previous thread is here:
Cloudy's Cafe
Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie. The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:
this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone
* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner * any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences) -a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately! * Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!) * do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it. Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course! The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by. |

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it. Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members. So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;) |
We finally got the winter's first snow here in France yesterday. But the weather was really strange. Either it was a snowstorm(view from my dorm) or the sun was shining and then the snow was melting. So this morning there was a fine layer of snow and below that the snow which had earlier melted had become ice.
Second semester is now going on here. We only got a weekend after first semester was over. [ 01-25-2005, 09:32 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Great snow pic, dplax! Our view was similar, at least the falling snow part, a few days ago. It was so windy that piles of snow were swirled around and it made driving almost impossible.
|
I've read on BBC about the snowstorms the northeastern parts of the US has been having. I usually like snow, but that is too much. Has the situation calmed down since?
|
Wish it would snow that hard over here. We got some yesterday morning but it melted really fast. This morning we had even less.
|
Afternoon all. I just got back home. Nothing drastic happend today. I ate some good chocolate before I came to IW. I have to study now, becuase I have an exam from history tomorrow.
|
Study hard for it, Xen! And watch all that chocolate talk...we might start expecting you to share! :D
Take some of my snow, philip! We have plenty to give you! [ 01-25-2005, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ] |
I would take a picture from my window but you all would hate me
|
Hehe..nah, but I'd sigh wistfully and think "snowy thoughts" your way! ;) :D
|
I wish England got snow, all we get is sleet, or hailstones, which are a pain when doing a paper round!
I've just had an exam today, Maths. The none calculator paper was pretty straight forward, but the calculator was just downright nasty. The last 4 questions were on trigonometry. All we done is right angle triangles, so everyone was stuck when it was an isosceles! Stupid maths. When am I ever going to need to know the side and/or angle of a triangle? I'll just make sure I carry a tapemeasure and protractor! |

Almost time to go home. I have errands to run, but it beats being at work. :D

Heh, funny as soon as it snows in East US we get heat and rain and almost all the snow is slowly going away... so wonderful.
Anyway I just got home from work, it's 5 minutes to midnight... good night peeps... |
Well, I feel a bit silly, now. posted in the old thread. Oh well, not much important to tell, really. One thing, though: SOME KIND OF MONSTER IS OUT ON DVD!!! I'm kinda excited. I was gonna rush out and get it, today, but I decided to wait until thursday or friday, whenever I decide to do the rest of that shopping crap. Well, I gotta run. Later folks!

Oh man, the weather was beautiful today. I totally should have one shorts. It was just sorta chilly this morning so I didn't. Oh well, if the whether turns out better tomorrow I can. Anyway, how's everyone doing today?
|
I think I posted in the wrong Cafe LOL. They are too close together!

Well, I just had my first bad experience with the new dog. It was accidental but still... The dog was outside in the back and started barking. I went to see what was up. I guess I must have backed up a bit and stepped on his paw. As a reaction, he bit me on the ankle. It was bleeding pretty good. I'm sure he felt bad about it, but it still sucks. I'll get a Tet. shot tomorrow to be safe.
|
Well, if everyone would quit posting in the old cafe, it would slide down the page into oblivion, wouldn't it? :D
73, eh, Attalus? We get up that warm here in Michigan in January, too. You just have to add three or four days together to get there ;) And my benchmark for conversion is that 68F (the fabled room temperature) is 20C. So 73 makes about 22C... quite comfy, in most cases. That stinks about the dog, Variol. Hopefully he won't develop a taste for your ankles... :D [ 01-25-2005, 11:24 PM: Message edited by: Bungleau ] |
Attalus, I hear it is not always warm down there.
My Brother-in-law brought his family down to Texas for Christmas with his uncle. My nephew planned to go swimming on Christmas. Unfortunately it snowed Christamas eve where they stayed. I told my nephew he brought the snow with him from Canada |
I am in school. One hour before exam and I don't know an apple for God's sake. I am so nervous.
ADD] Well I got back home. I have a good feeling about it. We'll see about that won't we? [ 01-26-2005, 10:44 AM: Message edited by: Xen ] |
Good morin all. These are the times I need Coffee. Woundering why I made a post about it. Ok need to run. Everyone have a good day. And never fear the snow should melt. ;)

Mac Attack's a daddy again! He posted that his son was born! CONGRATS to him and his wife and all refreshments are on the house in honor of the event.
|
I already congratulated him. It's 6.45 PM here and I am waiting for news to start. Today when I was swimming in a pool I felt a really big pain in my right shin becuase of convulsion. But the pain wore off after a minute or two.

This first module I've done in Year 10. I'm doing the 3 hardest, and man are they hard :( |
My university medical application has been declined by two universites.
I have an interview with another so I can get an offer. I haven't heard from my fourth choice yet. Hip-hip-hurrah. |
Good luck Sigmar.

This is interesting, I plan on waking up much much later and then see the result of ManU vs Chelsea. But here I am waking up at 3am before the match. The gods are cruel. Very cruel indeed. I sense something bad will happen.

Looking at exam trips here Found some cheap ones in Turkey all inclusive so I hope the others like it there as well. Looks more fun than Spain but who knows maybe we'll end up there anyway.

Its a nice rainy day in the Old Pueblo. Not even cold but the level of humidity and temperature has created some evil force that kinked only my gray hairs. My appearance is hideous LOL.
Hope everyone is having a good day, staying warm, having someone to cuddle with, etc. I making broiled subs for supper tonight (roast beef and turkey), potato salad, and veggies and dip. Should be good for sitting in front of the tele and watching Lost and CSI New York. Didn't see where they moved That 70's Show to when American Idol aired last week. Don't see it listed in today's paper either. That kinda sux. |
My folks live in AZ, Violet, outside of Phoenix. They're always telling me how warm it is in November and January etc, driving me nuts! LOL
Just think, if you were up here in the Frozen North, you could have dry skin and straw hair like we do! LOL :D Had a so so day- work was busy and this cold is doing it's best to keep me from being awake, but I'm home now and thinking of getting some extra sleep for a change. |
Man, I spilt milk on my pants in lunch today. I hate that, EVERYONE has to make the "he peed his pants" joke. Doesn't anyone realize how damn old and annoying that is? Called my mom and asked her to bring me a clean pair. She's so loving, she did. THANKS MOTHER! :D Anyway, got home and went to the Modest Mouse website, looked at tour dates and locations. What do I see? They're playing in a city on about an hour and thirty minutes away! The website says they arn't sold out either! Then I go to the Cain's Ballroom's (place where they were playing) website to get some info, only to find that they are indeed, SOLD OUT. Damn. I really like them too. :( Oh well, those were the highlights of my day.

Well, today has been a match in my own head about the appearance of the outside of it. I think I've settled on NOT cutting my hair, yet. I was really wanting to, but I decided since I had gotten it out this long, I may as well wait a little longer.
Otherwise, just a couple of labs today, and some meetings. How're you all doing? Congrats on extending the family, Mack! On a very different note, does anyone know where I could purchase a "dew-rag?" I think I'm going to start wearing one of those when I work out, to combat the long-hairdness. Hmm, and to incite even more conversation, what do YOU (that means anyone and everyone) think about long hair? Well, on guys, anyways. I think we all know women look great with it. Scratch that, women look damn good, regardless the hair length. Well, it's shower time, later everyone. |
Cut it bald dude. Or wear a cap. Or something. Working out with long hair cannot be good, how long is it? Just cut it off man, NOW. Long haired guys are creepy. Now let's stop talking about hair stuff and talk about maxes. Drew, what are yer maxes in bench, incline bench, deadlift, and squat?

Afternono everyone,
Well i spent yesterday doing alot of yard work (including chopping down 6 trees) and man am I sore today. Silently suffering here at work knowing that when I get home there is more work to be done. On the plus side the front garden is looking a million times better without all the big trees next to the house. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day/night. |
