A man is moving towards the centre of a field. When he gets there, he will die.

What's going on?

'Yes or no' questions can be asked which may be posted in the thread.

Any answers must be PMed.

Please note: if you think you know the answer please don't post a really obvious question but just provide your answer via PM.

(apologies if this particular question has already been posted on the forum)

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-03-2005 04:10 AM

Is this a physical, tangible field, with grass or the like?

Is he walking towards this center?

Blunderbuss 01-03-2005 04:24 AM

Yes. But what's in the field is irrelevant.

No.

Zuvio 01-03-2005 06:03 AM

I pm'ed you my answer and even if it is not correct, it sure is the coolest ;)

Blunderbuss 01-03-2005 06:13 AM

Yes Zuvio, your answer was very...erm...interesting... :D

RoSs_bg2_rox 01-03-2005 08:10 AM

It seems I was fairly close.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-03-2005 12:49 PM

Is this field on the ground?

Did you want me to remove this here question?

Is he inside some sort of conveyance?

Blunderbuss 01-03-2005 01:04 PM

Yes.

No. That's given it away.

No.

armageddon272 01-03-2005 02:37 PM

When you say "man", you mean a human male correct?

RoSs_bg2_rox 01-03-2005 02:41 PM

He does. Although that is fairly irrelevant.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-03-2005 02:47 PM

Ooh, I think I got it.

PM sent.

shadowhound 01-04-2005 04:14 AM

Well if he is not walking towards the center of the field is he riding something?

Blunderbuss 01-04-2005 04:26 AM

No.

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 01-04-2005 06:57 AM

Can I tell 'em?

Dude, he made it pretty clear that he doesn't want the answer given away, even if that means that you don't get show off to everyone that you figured it out.

I didn't get most of the riddles that have been posted. Funny thing is that I got this one right away, so I'm surprised so few, if any are getting it.

The Hierophant 01-04-2005 07:35 AM

Good for you. Now there's nothing left for you to say, so be on your way then.

I could send you a tissue, or some cheese to go with that whine!

It's just a stupid riddle! What are getting so upset about? Besides it's been 3 days! If we were sitting in Cloudy's cafe telling this, we'd all be dead by now!

Stormymystic 01-04-2005 08:05 AM

well, some of us take longer to start thinking in the right direction ;)

Zuvio 01-04-2005 08:31 AM

I'm clueless. He said my answer was close, although he could've just pretended to be nice :D

Well, still myanswer *is* correct... sorta... kinda.....

Blunderbuss 01-04-2005 09:08 AM

Okay, things seem to be getting a little tense. So, I'll post the answer if no-one has any objections.

Hivetyrant 01-04-2005 09:25 AM

no objections here, though I know the answer :D

Blunderbuss 01-04-2005 09:28 AM

Well, one person is good enough for me! :D

So the answer is *drum roll please*:

The man has jumped from a plane and consequently when he hits the ground will be killed.

Quite a few of you got it. I won't post their names as there are quite a few of you and I wouldn't want to rub it in for those who didn't get it.

Zuvio 01-04-2005 10:45 AM

I still don't get it. Could you please use judicature terms?

But somehow I do understand that my thinking it was a singularity with infinite density and zero volume came close. He *would* die inside, although we would never be able to tell.

Hivetyrant 01-04-2005 11:11 AM

Will a visual representation do??? :D

Zuvio 01-04-2005 11:19 AM

LOL!! Good one HT! But, I can't seem to grasp what exactly is the 'centre' of the field. Care to animate on that? WAAAAAHAHhahahahaha HAHHAHAHAhahahaaaaaaa......

Hivetyrant 01-04-2005 12:17 PM

Dont mind if I do

Bungleau 01-04-2005 12:58 PM

But he doesn't actually fall in the center, although he falls across it after impact... :D

Hmmm, no Soccer for a while I guess...

Oh, and all you need to do in that situation (should it ever arise) is when you get 2 feet from the ground, you just jump from there!

</font>
I'll presume you mean, if you were still on the aeroplane. In which, let me confirm: you mean that we should wait on the aeroplane, hurtling at some ridiculous speed towards the ground. Then try to time it so you jump from the plane as it is two metres from the ground. And if, by some miracle, you survive that. How do you propose, you are to avoid the aircraft you just jumped from which is now falling alongside you before it hits the ground and explodes or, at least, sends shrapnel flying in every direction? I don't think you thought that through, did you. :D

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 01-04-2005 06:51 PM

It's a joke silly! We've been saying that since I was a child. It's not just for planes but high falls in general. When you're falling just wait 'til you're 2 feet from the ground, and jump from there! That way it won't hurt! Get the silliness in that? ;)

Blunderbuss 01-04-2005 06:52 PM

Fair enough... But I won't be jumping from any high heights to see if it actually works. :D

Zuvio 01-04-2005 06:53 PM

But what if you land at the far upper-eastern edge of a football-field. You would die, but it wouldn't be the center. Or is it just that it doesn't mean an actual field, but rather a circle of any size of which you are the center? If so, then naming it a 'field' confuses me.

LennonCook 01-05-2005 02:37 AM

<span style="color: lightblue">A field is any patch of land. ;)

Blunderbuss 01-05-2005 03:39 AM

It's a field and this paticular person falls to the centre.
