OK, since I can barely figure any of the other lateral thinking questions, I dont wanna feel left out so here is one of my personal favorites.

A woman brought her car up beside a hotel, and knew immediately that she was about to become bankrupt. Why and how does she know?

There are too many answers for that!

It was her hotel and it had been knocked down?
There was a carjacker stood outside her window?
She Pulled over because her bank manager called?

you may be able to think of several answers, but none of those were the one i was looking for.

Its like the one where:

Why did the dj kill himself when his radio station skipped.

These are not pointless things, mes amis. They encourage you to think of things differently, rather than just accept what is in front of you. And this one certainly encourages you to think outside the box, so to speak, and eliminate your own assumptions.

But if your in the English speaking world (as distinct from the American English world ;) ), you won't know what the above means until you replace Broadway with Mayfair.

That is actually quite clever when you think about it, although I did manage to figure it out, and was pleased that I could get confirmation from the thread (through Azred)

Nononono Lavi and Intrepid - go look at the puzzle that was given at the very top - there was no mention of Broadway. The puzzle was the same for Americans and non-Americans [img]smile.gif[/img] . The clue given by Azred is what put you off. The puzzle just connects a car a hotel and bankruptcy. While Azred's clue was a little offputting, it was what gave it away to me. How many hotels set you back 2000 of anything. What does a hotel on Mayfair cast - 2000 - connection = Monopoly. Assumption = Americans use different titles for their streets or stations to make this universal game sell beter. So don't blame the puzzle guys it was good.

Sure it cost 450 Lavi - to buy - but it costs 2000 in rent if it has a HOTEL doesn't it (in either country) ;) .

Well, better late than never. I was thinking along the lines of her gambling addiction and the fact that she's pulling up to a hotel in Vegas. She knows she can't stop herself and she also knows she can't leave until all her money is gone. I will keep her in my prayers today. :D
