for when you have a song stuck in your head? I have a parody of The Camptown Race" running around up there.

Dron_Cah 10-18-2004 04:57 PM

Annoying. ;)

Spirits forever 10-18-2004 05:42 PM

disturbing XD, especially if it is metallica XD

Arvon 10-18-2004 07:24 PM

Nah! There's a word for when you go to a play or movie and come out with one of the songs stuck in your head.

Google for "song stuck in head" revealed some surprising results (I was curious too :D ):

The Germans call them "Earworms", and the name seems to have migrated into American psychological and cognitive studies.

They occur most frequently in women and musicians (female musicians weren't mentioned...)

hey dron_cah or whatever your name is, where did you get the metallica picture you use for your sig? im a huge fan (own five albums)

Dron_Cah 10-18-2004 10:35 PM

Well, my name's fairly straight forward, but, oh well. I actually made the picture, using the background image "Mr. Scary-guy" and imposing separate pics of the guys over it.

Earworms, hmm interesting. I have had Paint it Black (Rolling Stones) and Die, Die My Darling (Metallica) stuck in my hed all day.

Dron_Cah 10-19-2004 12:33 AM

Speaking of earworms, I got Man in the Box (Alice in Chains) stuck in my head. Good song to have stuck, Shadowhound!
Oh, and Spirits, I odnt like you as much, anymore. That is, until you finish my pic, then you're cool, again, lol! ;)

You call a song that stuck in your head " Earworm" ?

Let's see now. " Hey, I got a earworm about.... "

I can imagine people start to move far away from me.

I don't care what you all say, nothing is worse than having Disney jingles stuck in your head. Trying watching your baby cousins while they decide to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas, three days of those songs playing through my head was enough to drive me insane

Strangely enough, when you look at MRI's, the phenomenon rather resembles epilepsy. Earworms, huh? That's a new one on me. They say the remedy is to imagine the National Anthem being sung. Works for me, after a few times.
