Donut 09-13-2004 05:10 AM

I've got an itch that I can't scratch that the US could get a result here.

Australia are an ageing team and I've heard that Warnie's mum has run out of diet pills. Add the over confidence of the Aussies and there's a turnover on the cards!!!

Memnoch 09-13-2004 05:50 AM

You never know what might happen - look at the upset in the FIFA WC final in 1966...

Vaskez 09-13-2004 06:57 AM

ROFL. Since when do USA play cricket anyway? :D

wellard 09-13-2004 07:09 AM

Boring fact for uncle Vaskez

The USA are (along with Canada) the worlds oldest international cricket team :D

No doubt someone like Mems can post the date of the very first international

Hivetyrant 09-13-2004 07:49 AM

We may be over-confident, but we are justified, because we are GOOD!!! :D

That and the fact that New sheepland bleet the USA the other day. If they can do it we can ;)

Memnoch 09-13-2004 08:52 AM

Unfortunately the USA weren't able to "do a FIFA WC 1966" in this case... :( :D :(

Davros 09-13-2004 09:05 AM

Hey Donut - you are usually sharper than that. Did it slip your memory that Warnie has retired from international one day cricket? I guess it must have ;) .

Timber Loftis 09-13-2004 09:09 AM

Cricket -- the US -- who knew? I tried to grok the game when I was in London, and found it rather silly. Sorry. (I'd best get to running now.)

I'm suprised at you Davros. I meant that his mum running out of diet pills was the rason he had to retire.

I thought Australia looked a bit flat today. Loads of NB's and wides, dropped catches and Lehmann looks like a rolling potato when he runs. Ripe for the picking I'd say. I fancy the Enzedders to beat them.

We have a cricket team!!?? But, more importantly, how many Americans know this? ;)

Davros 09-13-2004 06:17 PM

LOL - you would like to see the NZedders beat us , but that will be beacuse you would like to avoid your mob running into us. We are keen to test the mental fragility of your so called saviours - players like Recycle Giles and your big Viking Andy. I hear your blokes have been building confidence while feasting on the lower nations in the pecking order :D .

I just remembered - this is how we actually ran into each other on IW - it was you slagging off Warnie in IW back in early 2001. Was that really 3 and a bit years ago - it seems like just yesterday. One thing has remained constant in all that time - Warnie is still the best bowler in international cricket.

Dave_the_quack 09-13-2004 06:26 PM

There was never any doubt that we would beat the US. NO doubt.

Sythe 09-13-2004 06:34 PM

After the U.S gets its butt spanked how about then a rematch....in baseball?

Gxc 09-13-2004 07:42 PM

No - last I looked that was Steve Harmison. Even Murali is better than the Pillsbury Dough Boy! That's why you had to involve your Prime Minister to scuttle him!

Why should anyone fear Australia, They racked up the second lowest score in ICC history today!!!

We wanted to, but when we got to the Olympics you lot weren't there for some reason. Alas, we had to play Cuba for the gold instead, and they were too good for us. :(

Davros 09-14-2004 09:02 AM

2nd lowest score - ROFLOLWP - :D . Only you could think to put such a positive as a negative ;) .

And Memsie - that's what I was going to type re the baseball but you beat me to it :D .

Davros 09-16-2004 11:55 AM

Well - barring a comeback of biblical proportions, that is the Kiwi's out of the way. Who is next for us - the Sri Lankans I am guessing ;)

Memnoch 09-16-2004 12:04 PM

A surprisingly easy victory with 12 overs to spare. Surprising as I thought NZ would put up more of a fight, they are the No3 ranked team in the world after all, and won the Natwest TriSeries here after all. What an onslaught from Symmo, 71 off 47 with four sixes!! The improvement in this guy over the past 18 months, since the WC, has been amazing. Goes to show what a bit of confidence and support from your captain does for your form, he'd be one of the three best players in the squad at the moment and has proven to be a more than capable replacement for Bevan. Marto played fluently for his 60, and Hayden showed composure in his 47, showed how to chase a low score - keep the run rate ticking along. Bad luck Kiwis but they lost it in the first innings. Really sorry. :( :D Ooops :(

Now either SL or England - hopefully it will be England, I'd like SL to win as I reckon that would give us a better contest but nothing would give me more pleasure than to see us knock the Pommies out... :D

Davros 09-16-2004 06:18 PM

Well in that case Memsie, I hope we play the Poms. I want to see how Viking Andy handles a few around his ears, and I want to see how many times Mr Giles gets swatted over the fence by Matt the Bat and Symo ,

theGrimm 09-17-2004 01:52 AM

And here's poor me, hoping we can just beat the Windies! Argh, how our cricket has fallen:)

Hey, I didn't realise we had any Saffa members on this board (plenty on my rugby board, but not here). Welcome aboard mate, you must be the first (and only) Saffrican member here. Though I reckon you'll do it tough against the Windies unless your bowling turns up, I don't fancy your batting lineup to post a score high enough to challenge theirs...

theGrimm 09-17-2004 03:43 AM

Well, we whitewashed them in our most recent series, but you're right, short of Kallis, our batting is up to scratch.

And Pakistani as well? :D :D :D

Davros 09-18-2004 05:21 AM

Hey Lanesra - is losing as a Brit not enough for you - why do you feel the need to lose as a member of so many other natinalities :D . I can now see where they get the saying "The Brits are the best losers in the world - they have to be, they get so much practice at it" ;)

Unless you bat first it's doubtful if you'll see Flintoff get a chance to bat.

Fortunately your RU team can still kick Aussie Butt!!

I guess guessing ain't your strong point old chap! </font>
'tis a fatal flaw in the Aussie mindset that does not take into account the Pommy weather and the local teams ability to use it to thier advantage.

Flintoff (Botham mkXXII) v Symonds

I cant wait :D

Davros 09-19-2004 08:56 AM

When's it on - does anyone know? I guess I will probably tape it. It's been soooo long since the Pommies gave us a game worth staying up late at night for, so I have learned not to get my expectations up on the prospects of any serious challenge ;)

Memnoch 09-19-2004 11:02 AM

Dav, if we bowl first I reckon you'll be in bed by just past midnight EAST. :D

Davros 09-19-2004 06:21 PM

That might sound early Memsie - for some. Seeing as I have been up all night for the last few nights watching Europe with the Ryder Cup, only interupted on Saturday night by of all things a date (shock gasp grin), I will have to start catching up on my huge sleep defecit sometime soon. I am thinking today at work it might be a good day to close the door this afternoon and take a few "power naps" ;) . I think I have managed maybe a total of 6 hours sleep over the past 3 nights. The petrol tank is getting empty.
