Israely army is the only army in the world when 18 year old kids are given access to best tanks and weaponry in the world (Merkava 4 beats Abrahams 10 out of 10. A' tank can't drive in mountain regions for more than 2 hours, because it breaks down. It has worse armour and its shells can't penetrate M' 4 tank. As someone that knows that issue from a "very close point of view" my words can be trusted. At least i hope so). 24 year boys are captains. For consideration- in germany tank commanders are 40 year old men. The army fights for 56 years each day. Israel is a state when a large part of its population had killed someone or participated in a gunfight.

Where do i live????

Neverless I like it.

Timber Loftis 07-29-2004 05:06 PM

Well, um... congratulations... I guess... for having such a... erm... high degree of killers among your folk. Um... I think.

Ladyzekke 07-29-2004 05:45 PM

The army fights for 56 years each day? Wow, I don't know how they do it! :D

The Hierophant 07-29-2004 06:13 PM

"24 year old boys as captains"? Hmmm, doesn't sound so wise to me... there are a number of reasons the German tank commanders are older Black Baron, a few of which being accumulated wisdom, experience and restraint.

How impressed am I????? Time must fly in your little tank thingy!

Well, wise or no Hierophant, no army in the world had ever surpassed our victory in 1967. Remember-experience comes with fighting, which germany did not have for a long time.

The Hierophant 07-30-2004 08:08 AM

Whatever dude. Live a happy life huh?

Paladin2000 07-30-2004 08:15 AM

Your point being? Oh, you got great tanks. Right. Young guys (18 years old) get to drive powerful tanks. Great. They get to blow off some people while in it. Great. What a way to grow up. Right.

Stormymystic 07-30-2004 08:17 AM

not to sound rude, but is this really something to brag about? I mean come one, sure your army lets younger people drive tanks, and be captins, but what ever happened to earning your rights? and how much respect does a 24 year old man gain by being one of the youngest captins in the world? of course I do not approve of 18 year olds driving tanks either, but then again...I am not much on wars either ;) only when there is no other way would I see killing another human being as being valid.....

Vaskez 07-30-2004 08:18 AM

Well, luckily, other countries don't need to fight so much. Rather than point this out as an interesting thing or a cool thing, maybe you should realise that it's a bad thing.

Gnarf 07-30-2004 08:30 AM

I dunno if it can compete with kid suicide bombers, but way to go.

And what a experience, blowing up peoples homes and shooting pregnant women at tollbooths.

Cloudbringer 07-30-2004 10:13 AM

Just a reminder to keep this civil. I doubt he was bragging about killing people, at least I'd hope not, but at any rate, let's not turn this into a 'gunning for Black Baron' thread, ok.

Stormymystic 07-30-2004 10:22 AM

if my post came out like that, I am sorry, was just having my say

Black Baron 07-30-2004 11:32 AM

I was not pointing out the "fine sides of the idf", but merely pointing out the whole absurdness of the situation. I mean when 18 year old kid is being given on a regular basis 35 mln $ worth of equipment in order to kill somebody, something is wrong. I am surprised that i was understood otherwise.

My last sentence regards israel and not the security problems.

Gnarf 07-30-2004 11:50 AM

Ah. Good to know

Paladin2000 07-30-2004 12:55 PM

Oh. Sorry about misunderstanding your sarcasm for a praise of the sheer madness happening in your country.

quietman1920 07-30-2004 05:14 PM

When I was younger, I thought tanks were cool. I built models of them when I was 12. As time passes, I like them less and less, knowing what they do (and did).

I saw this link on another board. Its about tanks. German tanks (the things my uncle shot at in WW2). Some idiot has set the footage to heavy metal music. If tanks are your thing, then this is for you:

Personally, I can't get past the repellant politics.

Stormymystic 07-30-2004 06:13 PM

tanks do not kill people, it is the idiots behind the gears ;)

The propaganda film for the third richt's panzers looked real impressive considering that they were all destroyed in the war.

No one should ever have to feel ashamed for being a tank gunner or anything else on one, but I agree that at 18 I wasnt old enough for the responsabilities that are placed on young people in the Military, and at 19 I really wasnt ready to be responsible for 2 other peoples lives and my own and at 20 it was 11 other souls, at 24 i was an old man in Desert Storm with 30 to 50 people that I was responsible for, not to mention the Law enforcement duties I performed on a daily basis back then.
