the original thread used to be here

the previous thread is here:

<H2><font color="plum">Cloudy's Cafe</font></H2>

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

<H3>this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone</H3>

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

<font color="pink">The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.</font>

Aerich 07-25-2004 04:20 PM

First post!

Edit: Sorry, I just had to do that so I can put it on my resume.

<H1> <font color="plum"> PLEASE NOTE </font></H1>

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;)

Lady Blue03 07-25-2004 04:25 PM

<font color=pink>Well I have the *real* first post after Cloudy's two, nyah! :D </font>

Kaltia 07-25-2004 04:31 PM

No you don't, Jen... :D

So, what's up?

Cloudbringer 07-25-2004 05:33 PM

Hehe...Hi all! I'm taking a break from sorting junk...well, stuff that's been cluttering up my study for years and now I need to sort out what to keep, what to toss and what to store someplace if I have any room left. yuk...I hate cleaning! LOL

Aerich 07-25-2004 05:44 PM

I know exactly what you mean, Cloudy. I'm also trying to clean my room of a lot of junk. I've got so much stuff now that I need to use my space more effectively, and part of that is clearing out the areas (::ahem, desk drawer and closet:: ) that have served as convenient receptacles for everything I didn't have a place for.

I also generated a HUGE amount of paper at university last year (more than normal, because I started a new program). It's all sitting around still; I was too fried to do anything about it right after exams, and I started my summer job soon after. Also, I have better things to do now that it's summer.

It's been so hot over the last couple days that I've stayed inside, so I started cleaning up for want of anything else to do. Too hot to turn the computer on (adds to the heat), and also too hot to concentrate on a book. And I'm tired of navigating through enormous piles of paper.

There now, does this epic make up for my descent into spam?

Ah, that old Ironworks homework.

Downunda 07-25-2004 08:40 PM

well, sorted my stuff that needed doing in town and I've got a free afternoon.

I'm bored... at least until I get so bored that I end up doing my dishes just for something to do :D and after I finish them I'll be bored again...

Gangrell 07-25-2004 09:08 PM

Hey Kat, haven't seen you around for awhile, how are you these days?

Hey guys, just enjoyed my full 10 hours of sleep, and I woke up hurting all over. Half my body was asleep and the other half was hurting from sleeping wrong as I usually do. Maybe I need to get one of those giant foam beds, wherer not even a glass can be knocked over when you jump on it

Bungleau 07-25-2004 11:05 PM

Watch those "demonstration" commercials on those. Notice that the jumper jumps on the very edge of the bed, not in the middle. And not in the spot where they drop the bowling ball to show what happens with other beds... :D

Just finishing up a full weekend. My wife and I thought that we should add something to the kids' swingset in the back yard (that I built about two years ago). We finally decided to add monkey bars, and in less than a day, they are assembled, installed, and ready for monkeys. I like building things... especially things that I don't know how to build

So a little gaming tonight, and then to sleep, perchance to dream... aye, there's the rub. And tomorrow, back to the grind

Physically? Dead. Spiritually? Dead. Mentally? Will soon be dead next year, when the librarians catch up with me.

Xen 07-26-2004 07:11 AM

Hi all! I am awfully bored, killing time. I injured my muscle wich is below the knee on the back side of the leg a little.

Hivetyrant 07-26-2004 07:58 AM

Hey, everybody, what's the go? Everybody seems to be hurting latley, Xen, gangrell, and a heap of people from my school started complaning about injuries and such today...
Hmmmm, mabye its the food here..
"Hey Cloudy, are you trying to kill us slowly with poison or something?"..

*Wonders why she would even tell me...

Stormymystic 07-26-2004 09:35 AM

wow it is sooooo hot here (talking 64 degrees (f)) :D and it is supposed to stay this way for a few days, the high is going to be an unbearable 86 degrees (F)....should I quit gloating now? :D the wind blowing feels like it is blowing over a block of ice, kinda chilly, but it is nice been like this since yesterday afternoon when a storm system came through, no rain but plenty of cool air.

Ilander 07-26-2004 09:52 AM

Well, Kentucky's the same way right now, Stormy! But I can't complain, because it was (almost) ideal weather for fishing yesterday...but not quite---I got nice and rained on...but what the hey, it was fun!

Well, aren't you Little Mary Sunshine. Cheer up. I thought of you the other day when I was reading in a Patrick O'Brien novel that no writer ever shows his or her work to another wanting anything but unstinting praise. ;)

Kaltia 07-26-2004 10:56 AM

*Laughs* I noticed by the horde of "SCREW U!" e-mails in my inbox from little fangirls who don't quite understand that even in fanfiction, spellchecking is a must, damnit.

Cloudbringer 07-26-2004 12:24 PM

Hello!

Aerich, I hear you! Man, you described most of my clutter in the first paragraph... I just stash stuff wherever it fits and later, much later, I find things that I don't even need anymore....and the place is piled high with papers and notes and receipts...aaaaaaaaaaack!

We had a busy weekend, cleaning and doing yardwork, mostly, with a bit of laundry thrown in for good measure. Still need to do more of that and winning the lottery might help...I could get a bigger house with more storage! LOL

Stormymystic 07-26-2004 12:31 PM

then there would just be more clutter Cloudy, trust me on that ;) I have a bigger house now, and still find that there is never enough room

Do you just delete them, or read them for a laugh, like my friend Jonah does? Dammit, whenever Piestider visits, there are little pieces of wire and strange, unlabeled CD's and floppies sitting around, to say nothing of little, cryptic notes.

Xen 07-26-2004 03:11 PM

Good evning. I have just ordered pizza but my father has something against it. I don`t know, man he really is weird.

Lady Blue03 07-26-2004 03:41 PM

<font color=pink>There must be something going around the cafe for sure. I've been having trouble sleeping and had a relatively painful visit to the chiropractor this morning </font>

Stormymystic 07-26-2004 04:47 PM

I agree there is something in the cafe. I have had a headache all day, the kind that is there but not to bad, but if you cough or move real fast it flares up :/

I feel great, not counting my berry poisoning t'other day. Stay away from chiropractors, Jen. All they can do well is take your money.

Ilander 07-26-2004 06:23 PM

: :

I'm bored, but I have work to do...which means that I'm here for long enough to post, and then hopefully back to work!

Lady Blue03 07-26-2004 06:31 PM

<font color=pink>But this ones a family friend ;) </font>

Those are the worst kind.

Ilander 07-26-2004 08:41 PM

And I have writer's block for now, so I'm back...god, I got out of the habit of writing over the summer...

Edit: I didn't want to double post...

God above, I'm lonely.

Good morning, all. Pretty day, here, hope the (relatively) cool weather holds.

Cloudbringer 07-27-2004 01:27 PM

Raining here...but I suppose soon I'll be griping if it's snow, so I won't complain too loudly! :D Someone in my department got a scanner delivered here. Boy I wish it was being put on my desk! Nice HP scanjet!

Attalus 07-27-2004 01:46 PM

I haven't got a scanner, nor yet a digital camera. I'm technolically impoverished.

Ilander 07-27-2004 02:17 PM

I'm thinking about getting a scanner so that I can keep copies of things I get from the library at school handy...though I'm not terribly sure if that's legal...is it?

Bungleau 07-27-2004 03:06 PM

Making copies of things from the library is likely to be illegal, unless you're doing it in the course of research. So... be careful.

I also like the kid who warned me he was going to send me a "glitched e-mail" which would "decompose" my computer, before adding that I should believe him because his father "cracked the Japanese code in the Gulf War!".

I cannot make this up.

Well, Kat, you seem to have a nice derangement of epithets. ;) I love the one about the Japanese code. If the latter part of the statement is true, he is the child of CDR. Joseph Rochefort, U.S.N., who died in 1972, IIRC. If the former is true, his father broke the Morse, since that's the only code Saddam could use. ;)

Lady Blue03 07-27-2004 09:56 PM

<font color=pink>Evening everyone. Had a late night last night and woke up with insane cramps that made me immobile for about 3 hours straight. 2 pain killers later I'm feeling a little bit better

Oooh, Sex and the City is on, almost forgot! Have a good rest of the day everyone

And Bill, my neck is feeling heaps better. Nyah! :D </font>

I suspect that has a lot more to do with being 18 and athletic than your benighted chiropractor. Why didn't he/she fix your cramps?
