What is your favourite and least favourite city in the world?
My favourite would be New York and my least favourite, Reading. For those of you who haven't heard of Reading (pronounced RED-ing), it is a monsterous carbunkle on the Thames. It smells like a mixture of pure tedium and dogsh*t. It is full of braindead curmudgeons. The only question is whether it turns people into braindead curmudgeons or whether it just attracts those who already are. |
Favorite City... prolly Rome. So much to do there... though Amsterdam comes close
least favorite... no idea tbh... maybe Vaassen ? |
Favorite... A tie between Paris and New Orleans. Paris used to be in the lead, but Cajun and Creole cooking... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... :D
Least favorite... Don't have one, really. I could pick Allentown, PA, where they rolled up the city at 5PM... literally. Or Red Oak, Iowa, where there were two stoplights and four national chain restaurants (assuming you consider Dairy Queen to be a national chain restaurant). Or perhaps Napoleon, MI, where I got a ticket from a cop parked next to the doughnut shop (no kidding!). |
Fav city is New York City. Why? Cuz I'm a New Yorker and used to live just an hour away from the city :D

Fav... San Diego at least years ago.
Least Frisco... If god were to give the world an enema that's where he'd stick the hose |
For the ones I've been to, Vancouver is my favourite. Grande Prairie is my least favorite, but Edmonton is near the bottom too.
|
Favorite is definately my home city, San Diego. I haven't really been to a bad city...I guess most parts of LA. Some of them are so ghetto it takes guts to get out of the car

Christchurch is my fave that I seen, don't really have a least favorite city as such... lots of backwater towns that I wouldn't want to live in but I dunno...
|
Favorite city is prolly Chicago, which is the best livable city I've seen amongst the big cities of the world. Of course, I currently live in a down-town highrise and will soon move to a down-town townhouse, so I admit being jaded. San Fran is also a great big city to live in, if you can tolerate the traffic, as it is a short way from being in some nice scenic mountain/forest/ocean/beach terrain, and the great weather. Don't get me wrong, from April to September Chicago sports some great weather.
Least favorite decent-sized city is prolly Syracuse, NY. Dirty, declining, run-down, the typical former rust-belt and industrial-belt problems. I don't go into the numerous small towns you folks likely would not recognize, but the QOL in such towns varies greatly. |
Favorite? Louisville or Lexington KY. Worst? Miami--a dump for MILES!
|
I have two:
Granada and San Sebastian, these are my favourites cities |
fav. New York/almost anywhere in New Jersey
not fav. Everywhere but Atlanta in georgia. It's like a big swamp there. |
hmm never really considered this, but would have to say my favorite would be GulfPort mississippi or New Orleans. least fave....Pine Bluff, there is nothing there really, just a hole in the ground full of roads that lead no where.

Favorite: It's a toss up between Denver, New Orleans, Boston, and Orlando. Any one of these could be my favorite depending on the time of year. I love New Orleans in the spring, Denver in the summer, Boston in the fall, and Orlando in the winter. Ooh I also love Austin, TX just about anytime.
Least Favorite: I dont have a least favorite that comes to mind, I do hate the traffic in Atlanta ( and Boston for that matter). I despise driving on I-95 from Boston to New York City. It is so full of potholes and perpetual construction that never seems to fix them! I also hate the smell on the Bronx Expressway! I usually go an hour out of my way to avoid it. |
Favorite: San Francisco or New Orleans, great restaurants in both places.
Least Favorite: New York, by a mile |
How can you not like New York, Attalus? It is magic.
Two people have said they like New Orleans. I luuuurrrrvvv blues and jazz so I have a ridiculously romantic view of New Orleans. I was worried that if I actually visited it I would have my dream shattered so I'm rather pleased that people here like it. |
Oslo good then bad Lillestrøm !

Favorite city: Halifax,

Venice in Italy is my favourite city; it's just so beautiful and the atmoshphere is amazing. It has heaps of cool alleyways, nooks, and crannies, and I love the way it's all split up by water. The people are decent and there's lots of great things to do there - good food and good bars too. It's just so Alex.
My least favourite city is Bangkok, Thailand. I stayed there for two weeks back in 2001 and I couldn't stand it. It was hot, dirty, and smelly. I must've stepped in dog shit about eight times during my stay. |
New Orleans is a little confusing the firsl couple of times there, but it is a great city, love the french qaurter and really love Mardi Gras :D
|
Fave: Sydney
Least fave: none really (though I thought Mostar in Croatia was really average) |
Favourite: Rome
Least Favourite: Christchurch (NYAH Downunda! ) |
Are we allowed to include Christchurch are we? I thought we were talking cities, not villages. :D :D :D
|
Favourite (apart from God's own city Aberdeen :D )Boston - civilized, not too big and incredibly friendly.
Least favourite - Leeds - just not very nice at all. |

LOL, tell 'em, Piestrider. :D

Well, I don't think I've been to enough cities to name a least favourite (seems a bit mean to say 'such -and-such is the WORST city!' when I've been to maybe 15 cities for enough time to judge how nice they are and have no idea about any others), but my favourite city would be Paris. It is just so beautiful and clean and magical. I love Rome because of the history and it is also very beautiful, but Paris is just so special. Plus the metro is totally cool ;)

Well, Christchurch had over 320,000 inhabitants at last count genieboy! Hey, even my sleepy hometown qualifies as a city, with 120,000 odd people living here How 'bout that huh? As a self-confessed anti-industrialist I don't know whether I'm happy about that or not... ;)
