I started my first char about three years ago, called "Ruffkid", level 47 combat or something like that. That's when I left Runescape for a while. A year or so later, decided to get back into it - made "Jaradu"... a total failure, I quit him in about a week. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Now I've literally just made a new char yesterday and I've promised myself to stick with him. He's called "Dextrous7". Level 4 combat, but I'm not training in combat yet. Gonna get a few other levels like woodcutting, firemaking, mining, smithing, cooking, up to 20 first.

*sigh*... what happened to the good old days where you didn't need a number next to your name? :(

I'm intrigued by the idea of runescape - had a brief look at the website but am at work. What's it all about? Do you need broadband. How much stuff is there to download? Is it expensive (I'm sure it's effectively necessary to be a member for full enjoyment).

Being a member really isn't necessary to enjoy the game. I'm not a member, but I still find it fun. There are just two or three more towns (there are loads anyway), and some say that the added quests are a bit repetitive. The only thing we're really missing out on are the skills, but you pretty much only need the new skills for the new quests, if you know what I mean. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

You're taking a nice stroll to a city... let's say, Varrock. You go to the marketplace, which is FILLED with people shouting all over the place, "Type 123 if u wanna buy 1k of coal!!1", "Sellin mith full armor press 999", or "Buyin raw lobsters hit 456" in all sorts of flashing colours... as well as insulting to 'n00bs'.

To put it simply, it may be difficult to find 'roleplayers'. [img]smile.gif[/img]

But if you just ignore those types of people, you will find that there are some friendly and generous players out there. Less than in other games, but I suppose that's to be expected in a free game.

this account is much better than burnzey boy1. ive got better armour better skills and i know where most items and quests are. i like to learn from my mistakes.

In answer to the above question about members. IMO members quadriples the amount of things you can do and is WELL WORTH the money, once your in members you cant live without it trust me the updates are awsome.

Theres only two things bad about rs; the fact that it is extremely addictive and in non members the players are very immature ( memebrs how ever are mostly good players and has a great atmosphere )

Ugh, I've given up on it... my poor little mac is too slow for it.

Ihave discovered that this game possibly contains the most frustrating quest ever. THat one with Ernst in the Draynor Mansion, with the rooms and levers to get the oil. I spent about an hour buggering about down there and still couldn't open the final door. :rolleyes:

the oil can sequence is:
a b d a b e f c e. its one of the hardest quests.

usually the game takes a while when first played, but if you play it often it is much quicker.

Too late, i've already done it. I was one of those really frustarting ones that aren't all that fun. The other parts of it were fine though. Someone asked me how to open the door and i explained i couldn't really remember how, as it was trial and error, and kept bugging me. Another idiot kept trying to sell me the oil and to other people, depsite me saying it was no tradable and that we can't pick it up. He still went around saying it was for sale, after failing to sell it to two people :(

I recently became a member to check it out, and I must say it is really cool. The quests are a lot less tedious than the free world quests, and the huge size of the map makes the game feel a lot more complete. Also, people are SO much less nooby, Aragorn's situation, along with many other memberable ones (someone telling me the mith shortsword he was selling was better than my addy battleaxe) wont come up.

Oh, if anyone who is just starting up wants me to make them some steel armor, I could easily do it.

Just a thankyou to all those from IW that have helped me in various ways, Marty and Burnzey partcularly, much appriciated. THere a some really noce people on there, willing to help etc, i try to help when i can, i've even been making free bronze and iron stuff for noobs, just to boost my smithing, unfortunately there are some really childish people too, not enough to ruin it though.

Thanks. Yea, Miniclip.com has been bringing in the world's population of 3rd graders to the game, which really makes it kinda annoying with beggars, scammers, etc.

it is a good idea to have different account for different things. for instance if ur a warrior, dont get up on skills. either die and regenerate with 3 items or buy ur food. however, if you make a different account, (not including archer and mage and warrior) make him all the sklls you want. etc: smith and miner, makes free armour very quick, or a fisher man with a good cooking lvl. play your cards right.

i just saw one of them people with gold crowns next to their name. he told me alot of things about the game, he said the esiest way to make money is by fishing. nothing else matters besides fishing.

Great, that's one of the skills neglected, i'm lvl 2, still my mining and smithing are my strength, 32 and 26 respectively, whihc isn't bad for my level really, 21. Minig ess a quick money earner, a 5 min trip makes 540 gold @20 each and there is usually someone buying, unlike with other items.

yeah but 20gp.. little low aye? i go for 30 gp and depends on the mining lvl and pik axe. another good way is selling coal, buy some from drugo (40gp at least) and sell it for 180gp.
i seriously need help with mage burnz.. i keep dying and every time i die, i always have 300 mind runes. it sucks..

If you need a few runes I've got about 50 my account you can have, not very special but you may want them. Also I sell them @20 cause there is always someone buying at that price. If someone is willing to pay 30 i'll take it, but its not worth waiting for.

ah well i got a rune 2 handed any ways so nothing to worry about. do you player kill at all? thats a way to get money, but you need food and they probably have food too, you kill somone with mith, no worries ;)

I am wating until i get some black armour (i've already got a longsword), then i'll use the steel i got to pk. I may also get my smithing up so that i can replace the weapon, helm sheild etc if i do die. I don't want to lose my best stuff now, do i?

im not a big fan on defence, only on strength. im lvl 50 strength
43 attack and 11 defence now, my combat is 44.

WHat does defence actually do, does it only come into effect when using defensive fighting styles, or does it lead to less chance of getting hit all the time? I check the manual actualy, stop asking stupid questions, if the answers in there.
