My whole sense of time and space has been destroyed...

One minute, I'm playing an online game with some friends. I blink for a split second - the game has closed, I am on Ironworks, and the clock has advanced 30 minutes!

What happened? I didn't fall asleep because my sister said she occasionally came in and out of the room and didn't see me asleep. And it was just a blink - I didn't lie down or anything.

Hmmm... I have been known to be quite absent minded - maybe it's taken a new level and I'm forgetting random things?

You should probably avoid any of those "naturally grown cigarettes." :D

I think he needs to own a DeLorean for that.

Cloudbringer 06-25-2004 07:04 PM

And I thought the paint fumes were bad in MY study...oh boy! LOL....so maybe you blinked and slept while sitting up....you never know...or maybe aliens came out of the monitor and hypnotized you...or... err.. I'm guessing you fell asleep or got to close to a bottle of glue, myself. ;) :D

Ilander 06-25-2004 07:13 PM

Hey...a train works too!

Dude...that's kind of creepy...but what the hey, you couldn't have ended up at a better place...here, where the shriners and the lepers play their...ok, I'll lay off the Weird Al quotes...but don't worry, it's COMING!

No, Jaradu, I wouldn't say anything weird has happened...you just have epilepsy, and collapsed from the rhythmic flashing lights in your online game...in your collapse, you suffered a siezure while you sister was out of the room, hit ALT-F4 and then spasmed your way to IW.

Elementary, my dear watson!

Hey, enough with the drug jokes, already! :D

Ilander, I think you're onto something there... it all makes sense! LOL... spasming my way into Ironworks

I do that sometimes too, it is a form of sleep walking, I am serious, I forgot exactly what it is called, but it is a medical condition and can happen while still awake

wow...i just experienced my first encounter with sleepwalking, well not really, i slept right through it. my friend little girl came to our bedroom door and cried and then went back to her mom allw hile asleep, i was told about it the next morning.

good luck fguring this one out jaradu! i have no clue what is wrong with you. but i used to have long "awake" and inciteful convo's with my bro when he would come home drunk. he said hte light would be on and everything, i don't remember them tho.

Ilander 06-25-2004 08:11 PM

Dron Cah, when we were pre-teens, stayed the night at my house for video-gaming purposes, but went to bed early...he then sleepwalked to where I was sleeping, coughed five times (which woke me up) and then went back to bed.

I don't know if people could have fine motor skills in their sleep,though....

Ladyzekke 06-25-2004 08:47 PM

Sounds like you fell asleep. Or the clock is messed up. Or maybe aliens abducted you for your 30 minute annual checkup. :D

Do you get adequate sleep Jaradu for the most part every night?

Stormymystic 06-25-2004 09:43 PM

I use to carry on a full conversation in my sleep :D also used to try and cook :/ that was a nightmare (pun intended) my parents once found me in the kitchen holding a chefs knife trying to cut a potato

Aerich 06-25-2004 09:48 PM

No sleepwalking here, although I did fall over the edge of my bed about four times a week for a few years. Used to be a very restless sleeper.

Jaradu, maybe you just turned off your brain while you were doing familiar things. Sometimes when I'm cycling I'll find myself at the top of a hill I don't remember climbing. Since I probably don't have the ability to teleport...

Mack_Attack 06-25-2004 10:48 PM

Well I still think It is aliens I would be checking your body over for little strange marks. ;)

But that sure is weird stuff. I think it is time to get some fresh air. :D

<------ does this bring any chilling thoughts.

Lauren 06-25-2004 10:59 PM

lol... maybe you had a black out.... that happened to me once...except I ended up falling down..lol :D

Jaradu 06-26-2004 06:32 AM

LOL, all the drugs and aliens are good ideas, but I think probability leans towards sleepwalking. It was around midnight at the time, LZ, so I think it does have something to do with sleep.

Thanks everyone - any more info on sleepwalking would be appreciated. Oh, and there's some good stories here as well

Bozos of Bones 06-26-2004 06:51 AM

What were you playing? I wanna!

Jaradu 06-26-2004 06:57 AM

LOL, you should know, Bozos. It was you that introduced it to Ironworks ;)

Svaerdhelgon 06-26-2004 07:36 AM

Happens to me while walking quite often,I start walking and all of a sudden I´m there!
and can´t remember a thing from the walk, scary.

Dron_Cah 06-26-2004 02:05 PM

Hmm, I used to sleep walk a lot! But, lately, I cant remember ever sleep walking. Actually, according to my parents, I havent done it for awhile, either that, or I'm beginning to use the windows... ;)

DragonSlayer25 06-26-2004 05:18 PM

This all sound very similar to HHS, or Highway Hypnosis Syndrome(named so because most often occurs with people driving). Never accutally experienced it myself, but it occurs when the occular nerves are submitted to a repeated light/dark sequence(such as Yellow line/pavement)or the repitition of extremely familiar inputs or sights. This causes the brain to relax, often slipping into a zombie like state of hypnosis.

(god I read too much)

Ladyzekke 06-27-2004 12:02 AM

I think a lot of us that drives experiences a mild case of HHS. If you've ever drove to work, or from work, and don't remember much of your trip, then you realize that you were basically driving on "automatic". If that makes sense.

Lauren 06-27-2004 12:06 AM

Don't worry I have black outs.... I'm writing away at my english assignment then within a couple of blinks I'm watching tv...it's weird....lol.
You said that your sister came into the room ever so often and said that she didn't see you asleep....but were you still clicking away at the computer with your mouse?

Jaradu 06-27-2004 01:07 AM

Yep, my fingers were very active... It's a very intense game - look away for 3 seconds and you're dead.

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
