I still can't believe what i whitnessed last night. The game should have been over, and the series would have shifted to the Motorcity with a 2-0 series lead for the Pistons. Less than 20 seconds on the clock, a 3 point Pistons lead, this should have been a classic moment for a Hack-a-Shaq, or something in that line. It was pretty obvious that the Lakers were going to Bryant for the last shot, so all they needed to do was grab his arm, his jersey, hell.... even pull down his pants for all i care, but definitely not let him take a threepoint shot. Everyone who ever walked down a basketballcourt knows what to do in such a situation, but Larry Brown and his team apparently forgot that last night. Kobe even had a few seconds to look for the right angle, and dropped the big one right in the face of Rip Hamilton, un-effin-believable !!!
What a shock that would have been. I enjoyed watching Rasheed thrashing Malone, Billups making Payton look REALLY bad, and the intensity that Ben shows when he goes up for a rebound, but this should NOT have happened. I'm afraid that somehow the Lakers will use this to their advantage in the rest of the series, they're always so damn lucky. I just hope that the Pistons keep playing with the same defensive intensity in the remaining games, and we should see one hell of a series. I haven't seen such a well balanced defence since the Bulls of Jordan-Pippen-Rodman. For the first time in a long period, an eastern conference team doesn't look completely helpless against the big guns from the west. KEEP IT UP DETROIT !!! |
Am Detroit all the way.
I thought they had game 2... they all got demoralized by Kobe... enough said. :( Oh well... it's going to be a great series at the very least. :D |
Go Lakerss!!!
Kobe was in top form. I hope he produces the same thing again. |

I wish I could have finished watching the game. I had to leave for work with four minutes left in regulation. Sounded like a classic ending that we'll be watching for years to come, just like the Jordan shot over Craig Ehlo, or the one over Bryan Russell or the...etc. |
They're not THAT good, luck is a bigger factor for this tean than ever. Remember that impossible shot from Fisher in game 5 against San Antonio with 0.4 seconds left on the clock ? He'll probably never ever in his lifetime make another shot like that, but this year everything seems to go their way. If San Antonio would have won that game like they should, it would have been 3-2 Spurs, and it would have been highly unlikely that the lakers would have advanced.
This was another one of those lucky moments, although i'd prefer to call it Pistons ignorance. If they simply would have made a foul on Shaq, they would have had a 2-0 series lead. |
or hamilton could have been a little more aggressive. he didn't really defend kobe.. too scared to to foul him... they had the game. the mere fact that they did... that is something.
i want malone and payton to get their rings... but hey.. the way they did it... by going to the lakers... no way. |
Not THAT good? I guess they would need five "top 50 of all time" players instead of four to be considered THAT good. ;)
What I don't understand is Phil J's use of players. If Luke Walton and Kareem Rush are good enough to play a certain amount of minutes in one game, why do they not even get to play in some games? |

Yeah... because of Jordan... tsktsk Jordan just ruined the careers of a lot of legendary players... tsktsktsk
|
2-1 Pistons, they really made the lakers look bad this time. Another defensive masterpiece. What a bummer that they gave game 2 away, they would have been 1 game away from a finals sweep.
|
Man... Detroit has all the answers for the Lakers... :D
|
Kobe was lookin' a wee bit frustrated in the first half... :D
C'mon, Pistons! *sits back, remembering the glory days watching the Pistons in the Cloverleaf Bar, polishing off a good-sized pizza.... * |

Nah it's not going back to the Staples Center! It should NOT! :D
Go Pistons! |
I don't even know why the Lakers start the ol' Mailman on his hurt knee...he's really just a burden to the team going up against Rasheed...I'm on the Piston's side

LOL
Nono, he started Malone because of certain reasons like pride, trust and faith. hehehe In essence, Malone can do it, unfortunately Rasheed is right there. Malone wants the ring so bad he wants to wreck his knee just for that ring. Can't blame him... Gary Payton on the other hand, well he's screwing up things... probably because he doesn't have enough time to settle down, not to mention that he isn't able to create any offensive opportunities as a point guard because of the triangle offense. How sad. |

Okay, if anything, basketball is my life. The only other things I actually care about are my family and my girl. I don't even consider my work to be anywhere near as important. So here's my opinion on this series. I don't like Detroit. I hate the Lakers. Kobe is a cocky guy who doesn't even deserve to be compared to Michael Jordan. Shaq sucks and has absolutely no skill at all. I read an artical after game 3 where he said, "I don't remember only going to the line for 2 shots in a game in the last 10 years." Or something along the lines of that. Guess what...he only took 1 shot in a game in the playoffs last year, although it might have been 2 years ago. When he comes up against a good defense, he can't even use his size all the time to take over (and his size is the only thing he's got). Payton and Malone...man, I wish they didn't go to the Lakers. I also wanted them both to get there rings, but not with the Lakers. Payton has like, what, 7 points in this whole series? He should retire, but his contract is still going on. Malone doesn't even deserve a ring anymore for joining the Lakers just to get a ring. The Lakers definately are extremely lucky...and Robert Horey is injured too, so he's not even there to make that lucky 3 shot like before. He's actually not even on there playoff roster because of his injury. Technically, the Lakers shouldn't have even won 2 years ago. Samaki Walker's halftime 3-pointer was after the buzzer, and that was one of the games where they lost by 1 or 2 points. I know the game would have been played differently if the shot didn't count, but it still helped them beat Sacremento. So...I HATE THE LAKERS. KICK THE LAKERS' BUTT, DETROIT! |
Lord...dude.... if basketball is your life, then how come you don't know that the reason that Horry isn't on their roster, is NOT because he's injured, but because he has been playing for the Spurs all year long ? :D

Well... well... um *leaves* |
LoL, johnny the voice of wisdom...Payton should aspire to be more like Malone, and not whining all the time about every little thing that's not going his way...he chose to be on the team and he should man up
|
3-1 Pistons, almost home.
Kobe looked really pissed. :D |

Pistons win it: 88-80.
Wow. Sheed just brought it. :D The Lakers look like sissies... I swear. Yeah they won't win another game it looks like. They only stole game 2... take note, STOLE game 2. They never showed that they have enough talent and defense to beat the Pistons... and to think that the Pistons are the underdogs... Phil Jackson for the first time in his career has trailed 2-1... and now he is trailing 3-1. Diasppointing. |
Not really, i'm enjoying it all the way. :D
To me the big man in this series so far is Chauncey Billups. He not only leads the Pistons defensively and offensively, but he makes big shots from outside when they need it the most. Plus that he hardly ever misses a freethrow. |
Quote:
Chauncey missed one free throw I think... but yeah he sank one big three-pointer... and then you have Sheed's to daggers towards the end of regulation. My friend said that Luke Walton maybe the Lakers' savior. Err... I don't think so. Hahahaha! Yeah did I say I am enjoying the punishment the Pistons are handing down to the Lakers? :D |

edit: And yeah, johnny, I agree about Chauncey Billups. He'll probably be the MVP IMHO, and his shot has been amazing. Just 3 missed free throws (2 yesterday, I really didn't expect that), and his 3P shot has been on during the finals. I'd like to see Prince add more offensively, though. He's a great defensive player and can be a great offender too, so I'd like to see him get more points on the board. He's actually my favorite player on the Pistons :D . I take it you mean Doc Rivers ? Well, what can i say.... he didn't get sacked for nothing as coach from the Magic, obviously he's gone senile. :D
As long as Prince keeps shutting Bryant down like he has been doing so far, i don't care if he scores or not. I can't think of a more satisfying sight of a frustrated Bryant, ranting and bitching against the refs how mistreated he feels. :D |
I couldn't agree with you more...
But hey. I like how Doc Rivers comments on the plays and whatever the players or coaches are doing... I am learning A LOT. :D And besides... he's now coaching the Celtics... so senile it is ei? Too bad for them... Yeah Go Pistons! Take them out tomorrow! |

Bryant even talked about how bad his game was, which I enjoyed a lot. I think he shot 4/11, or maybe 4/9, in the second game, and he ended up 8/25 last game, which was pretty funny. But he got in 2 very lucky 3-pointers just before the shot-clock expired...so he's just a lucky guy when it comes basketball. There still hasn't been much answer to Shaq. His trips to the free-thow line have actually been limited, which I find kinda surprising. Anyone else out there liking Rasheed's cocky attitude? That technical he got definately was worth it, cuz I think that's what sparked him on to get aggressive on offense. GAME 5 TONIGHT! LET'S GOT PISTONS!!! |
Yeah, i definitely like Sheed's attitude at the moment, mind you, the Lakers have been his nemesis several times during his Portland days. If there's any team he has a score to settle with, it's LA.

Oh man, the Lakers are getting their worst whooping of the finals, the humiliation is complete. Less than 6 minutes on the clock as i'm typing this, the Pistons are gonna be the new champs.
:D :D :D |
What a humiliating defeat for the Lakers. Wow.
100-87. And that was pretty good for the Lakers, considering how badly they were getting spanked. I used to like Karl Malone when he played for the Jazz. After giving up almost $19 million for a chance to get himself a ring, that was pretty pathetic. |
Wow... A great team getting whopped by the underdogs...
Underdogs no more... we have ourselves a new champion!!! GO PISTONS!!! :D :D :D Wow, I never thought the Lakers are going to be this humiliated... can't wait to see the changes coming... |
