the original thread is here

the previous thread is here:

Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 09:03 AM

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;)

johnny 06-08-2004 09:13 AM

First one to do the spammy act. :D

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 09:16 AM

Good Morning! Or afternoon or evening, as it were!
It's a nice sunny day here! Hope nobody is missing it...cuz I don't want to give it back! BWAHAHAHA!

The remodeling is still going on in my building. Now it's a steady 'tap, bang, tap' noise punctuated by jackhammer sounds and then blissful quiet for a while.

SomeGuy 06-08-2004 10:42 AM

Wheeeee... I'm tired. I just got back from the fieldhouse(was lifting weights) about 30 min ago. Ech... my legs ache... Anyway, How's everyone in the cafe today? I'm doing pretty fine myself. I'm enjoying my summer a lot, more time to lift weights. More time to do lots of stuff. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have second breakfast.

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 10:46 AM

LOL, you sound a bit like my cats, there SG! They think second breakfasts are mandatory if I'm home to give them some!

How do I go from human, to penguin, to broom boy, to cat? And besides, I think I deserve second breakfast! Just look at the good job I've done sweeping the cafe!

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 10:56 AM

Awww... you're so darned cute! If you purred, I'd take you home!

Here you go: Muffins, donuts, scrambled eggs, pancakes and syrup...take your pick! :D

LOL, my boss is shouting about 'morons' she has to deal with on the phone....guess everyone gets their share of frustrating work around here! :D

SomeGuy 06-08-2004 11:02 AM

I'll take the scrambled eggs and the pancakes with syrup! :D It's been awhile since I've had good home cooked breakfast!

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 11:03 AM

Awww... well you are welcome to visit any time! My husband makes a mean omelet and I'm pretty good at waffles and pancakes!

NewbietoRPGs 06-08-2004 11:46 AM

Hi all!
Anyone ever used a Game Theater XP by Hercules? I happened upon one the other day and I'm not entirely sure what to do with it.

Cloudbringer 06-08-2004 11:47 AM

Can't say as I have, Newbie, but maybe someone will know about them. If nobody can help here, post about it in the Miscellaneous forum!

Attalus 06-08-2004 02:43 PM

Afternoon, all. Rainy and cool, here. They said it was supposed to get into the 80's but I'd like to know when.

Mack_Attack 06-08-2004 02:54 PM

Well I think got that job I was talking about last week. The pipeline control job with Suncor. I talked to the boss at Suncor yesterday and I have to go back in to see them. They did mention in the interview if you get asked back it is because they need to go over the contract with you. So looks good. I hope they offer me a ton of money. LOL yeah right I could only wish.

Other than that it is a another so so day at work. All the big bosses are gone for the day. Hence me posting on IW. :D

Lady Blue03 06-08-2004 04:40 PM

Ick Bill, its like 80 over here and it looks like it's about to rain at any moment
ACK! Just got a call from my flight instructor...seems I missed my flight! My lesson today was at 1pm-3 and here I am thinking it was 3pm-5...GAH *sighs a and goes to study*

wellard 06-08-2004 07:07 PM

Morning all :D

Still got 101 jobs to do, I have 4 rostered days of in the middle of the week, and no more excuses for sitting at the computer all day because its as warm as it will get outside. Clean the gutters and fit gutter guards is the first task.

*Wishes for summer when its to hot to work..sigh*

Attalus 06-08-2004 07:13 PM

Good for you, Mack. Hope it works out. Jen, sorry you missed your flight. Wellard, it beats not being able to get anybody to come in because "it's too wet." Including gardeners.

Stormymystic 06-08-2004 07:27 PM

it reached the 80's here today, but I didn't notice, been in bed all day

Vaskez 06-08-2004 07:30 PM

I like the cafe, what you prefer, have a gentlemans club instead?

Dron_Cah 06-08-2004 07:32 PM

Whew, I'm beat! I've had to work the last two days, and I have to say, it's not all its cracked up to be! J/k, but I have been working at a friend's house. That good ol' back breakin work! Just finished their duckpen, I have to weed-eat their hillside tomorrow. Wow, I'm sore!

Oh, and Someguy, I just wanted to make sure you knew that you need to stretch before and after weight lifting. Likely, you already know, but a good warning/reminder never hurts!

Later all, I'm gonna go be lazy for a while!

Dron_Cah 06-08-2004 07:34 PM

Hey, I'm all for a gentlemen's club! ;) :D

I'd prefer not to see the words "Cloudy's Cafe, a conversation zone" at least twice on the front page whenever I visit. Could you at least change the name to preserve my poor eyeballs?

Ah I can rant all I like cos no one listens to me anyway, there are good sides to even that :D I'm not really being serious, but it IS slightly irritating, that's all. Then again I'm easily irritated.

Stormymystic 06-08-2004 07:45 PM

well, if people would post more, maybe there would only be one on the front page...

Lauren 06-08-2004 08:56 PM

Hello people!
I couldn't sleep last night, does any one know of anyways to get some good sleep?

Nerull 06-08-2004 09:08 PM

Man, nothing but pouring rain both going into work and leaving work. I'd love to tell these idiots that rain = slow down, not rain = let me go even faster so I can get out of the bad weather quicker. That's okay, we needed the rain.

What is WITH the weather? It's effing summer time, its supposed to be hot, not cloudy and rainy

You know, Vaskez, no ones forcing you to post in here :D

Stormymystic 06-08-2004 10:31 PM

Have you tried hitting yourself in the head with a sledgehammer ? Or crash into the wall a couple of times ? After a while you should fall asleep easily. :D

If all that didn't work, try reading a book until your eyes get heavy.

Stormymystic 06-08-2004 10:57 PM

reading at bed time makes the mind more active, so less likely to fall asleep sooner, but the other ideas are good or you could set and listen to someone make a speach, that always works for me, I tend to fall asleep real fast when listening to my husband talk about his job

Vaskez 06-08-2004 11:02 PM

Actually Stormy, reading helps you get to sleep as your mind STOPS thinking about all the tasks you have to do etc. and lets you escape into the book's world and you do get sleepy quite quickly. That's what I've always been told, tried it and it works.

Lady Blue03 06-08-2004 11:08 PM

Ya, reading always helps, or playing a mindless video/computer game

Aah I made myself some delicous chicken alfredo pasta...now if only there was white wine in the house :(

Reading makes my eyes tired, making me fall asleep faster. It's a nightly 'ritual' for me.

Stormymystic 06-09-2004 01:46 AM

Valium is great! Also aviod having a coffee 2 hours before bed. The caffeine will keep you awake. I've been known to have a burbon or two to help me sleep on the odd occasion

T-D-C 06-09-2004 04:38 AM
