I am trying to reserve travel on a belgian site, which normally should work in french and dutch, but now only the dutch part works. I would need translations for the following:
Dhr. Mw. Mej. Voorvoegsel Achternaam EDIT: and another question is hongaar dutch for hungarian? [ 06-04-2004, 05:05 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Dhr.is the abbrevation for Sir
Mw. is the abbrevation for Madam Mej. is the abbrevation for Miss Voorvoegsel is something typically Dutch, you only use it when have a name like "Pieter de Graaf"; the "voorvoegsel" is the word "de". Don't bother with it, they'll understand. Achternaam is surname EDIT: And yes, "Hongaar" is Dutch for someone from Hungaria, i.e. a Hungarian. [ 06-02-2004, 03:45 PM: Message edited by: Link ] |
Thanks! I still might need some help later though.

Next time just PM me when you need to know something about the Dutch language. I'll help you out properly.

Thanks everyone for your help. Next time I'll try to travel from a country of which I know the language. Or let's just hope the language I know works. :D

Before you do anything, let me just put a life-depending issue here:
'Een biertje, alstublieft' = may I have a beer please? VERY important! |
I wouldn't have gone to Holland without knowing that vital piece of information. :D
Although I think that a combination of "a beer please" and "ein Beer bitte" would have probably also worked. |
