For those of you who have seen the commercial, it's too funny. For those of you who haven't...

Why don't I drink American beer?

Why don't I buy a Morrocan snowmobile?
Why don't I eat a Japanese hot dog?
Because I am CANADIAN !!!

There was a few others in there too, but you get the idea. So let's here yours....

Why don't I drink Mexican water?

</font>
You're kidding, right? I dunno where you grew up, but where I grew up, everyone was drinking as soon as they could somehow get some bar staff to think they were 18 :D For me, this was around age 15....being tall is useful :D
But I never liked wine...still don't. I'll stick to my lager and the occasional shot of whiskey, rum or vodka, thanks. Johnny, you with me on the lager front? :D aahh I could really drink a Becks or a Tuborg right now.....*drool*

EDIT: *returns from fridge clutching his bottle of Becks*...now why didn't I think of that before? *scratches head* :D

I am a slave to the law! :D

Vaskez 04-16-2004 10:53 PM

LOL I can already imagine you having your beer with your mates, Sir G. You won't like it but you'll drink it to be cool :D And you'll keep doing this. Then one day you realise that you actually like it. From then on you can't live without it. Just look at Johnny. You will somehow get this idea that drinking beer is the best thing in the world and you will be able to do it for long periods of time spending insane amounts of money. Just wait...

Sir Goulum 04-16-2004 11:02 PM

Haven't had beer yet! I had wine before though, but it was yucky

DBear 04-16-2004 11:29 PM

Being a Canadian, I'm sure you know the old joke about how American beer is like making love in a canoe...

Bahamut 04-16-2004 11:42 PM

LOL @ Vask!

You know, we don't usually go into bars and such, but heck, my own parents approve of me drinking... well "allow" me to drink at such a young age... ;)

I love my parents. hehehe

Jorath Calar 04-17-2004 12:46 AM

Why I don't watch french comedy...

Or use Icelandic sunblock

or buy turkish houses (okey too far)

or deal with Iraqi travel agencies

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-17-2004 01:25 AM

Really? I don't drink American beer because it tastes like fermented sock juice

That *is* a great commercial. I'm all for Canada. People make fun of it around here because they're secretly jealous of it, that's my reading.

Gangrell 04-17-2004 01:29 AM

Well, I may be bashed by every resident alcoholic for this, but beer sucks period people. It doesn't even smell good, or maybe that's the American beer I'm thinking of

I won't hit you, just think you are strange and depraved ;) but yeah, it could be the American beer - can't say I drink American beer. I'll stick to German, Dutch and Czech beer thanks.

Arledrian 04-17-2004 12:49 PM

Everyone starts off hating beer. Then you get into pubs and clubs when you're a poor student and start drinking the stuff because bacardi cokes cost three times as much. That, and it's the hard man's drink, so when you're out with your mates you dont want to be seen as a pansy. This becomes a habit, and cha ching, you like beer for the rest of your life.

Jaradu 04-17-2004 01:20 PM

Think me strange, but at thirteen years old I have never and never will drink alocohol. Even if it's been diluted with water to the ratio of 1:999999999, I won't touch it. Horrible stuff . Alcohol is just as bad as any other drug and has the same (if not worse) effects, be it heroin or cocaine. So why hasn't the governement made it illegal? $$$$$$$... Hehehehe I don't intend to bring a happy topic down lol sorry . Drink it all ya want, got nothing to do with me ;) . Oh and my dad is insisting that I mention that Carling is the best alcoholic drink .

Dalamar Stormcrow 04-17-2004 01:22 PM

I'll take a Samuel Jackson...... MMM....Bitch!

LOL Arledrian is right, but at age 13 I'm not surprised you don't like alcohol, I certainly didn't when I was 13. You'll change ;)

I don't know, I think it's all beer. My friend gave me some of what she said was really good stuff and I could hardly get it down... I really don't care for it.
But who could fault me for taking a jab at American beer, widely regarded as of poor quality?

Not when I've made a £50 bet with a friend that I won't touch it even on my 18th birthday ;) . Anyway, Coca Cola is cheaper and tastier .

Either you lost 50 pounds of money, or you are to be one among *very* few people. Good luck on your impossible mission! :D

Personally, I don't drink much. The other boys in my class are either completely sober, or drinking everything that's possible (and smoking water pipe (and pot). I've had only one instance where I really was drunk, but I didn't throw up. I don't want to drink til' I throw up. At least, not yet. :D

The one time when I did get drunk was with Russian vodka. Horrible stuff! Estonian vodka tastes much better. :D

BTW good luck on the bet, although I doubt you'll make it. It just isn't enough money. :D

first off, lay off the american brew... what we export is crap. (yes, budweiser is popular, but only among poor saps who havent had any good stuff). micro breweries make the best beer here, but youre never going to see that on the shelves of another country... most dont even sell it in stores here. my favorite is one called terminator stout (MMM, dark beer rocks). to be completely honest, however, the best imported beer they sell in stores here is guinness, so don't think that americans are wholly impressed with the foreign beers theyve tried... why? because what you guys export is likewise crappy beer.

canada, however, is another story. All they've got there is moose and beer. Canada is like "hey look, eh, theres a moose, eh, lets drink a beer, eh?"

ROFL!!! Actually, it's really interesting to note who/ what types of people in the social circles drink what types of beer... you'll be surprised. As for the taste of beer, lots of different types available here and sold here (including microbrewery brands)... you should try the raspberry wheat. Tasty. As for moose and beer... well, we do have a beer called "Moosehead" and it's pretty damn good. :)

Gotta agree with you though... was in Cleveland a couple of years ago... drinking Milwaukee and Bud... gag. American beer sucks.

Obviously you havn't tried Firestone double bock!Great beer and it's American, well Californian!

Son of Osiris 04-18-2004 12:59 PM

Americans don't know skalla-palloo about Booze. The way I see it, the only thing they know how to make better then us is weapons, weapons, and more weapons.

And cars, computers and wine.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-18-2004 02:52 PM

Perhaps we make those things better than Canada, but there are other countries that make better cars, computers and wine.
Though I hear we're the world leader in Snot Candy, reality TV, comedians, and people named Todd.
I leave it to you all to decide what we should be most proud of.

Well yeah, Germans and Italians make better cars, Japanese make better computers and French, Spanish, Italians....well most Europeans make better wine ;)

Tried some budweiser a few months ago. It was pretty bad ;) Americans should stick to making cars and games. :D

I like our Icewines. The best. You guys should try our "Beaver Tails" in the winter (it's a hot pastry desert, not part of an animal like it's namesake), while skating the Rideau Canal.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-18-2004 05:44 PM

I had a beaver tail once, it was pretty good.
Even if, as a dish, it sounds obscene.
