Can I sue Yorkie for being sexist?
DS
PS I do really want to know.

Vaskez 04-14-2004 01:35 PM

No, it's a joke, get over it ;)

I think you have to prove that you were hurt in some measurable way, and convince others of that.

Timber Loftis 04-14-2004 03:20 PM

People are allowed to be sexist, at least in the US. It's prohibited in the employment context and the government can't discriminate, but outside of that people are allowed to dislike you based on your sex... and skin color.... and race.... and nationality.... and religion. ;)

Sythe 04-14-2004 04:28 PM

What topic you are talking about Dragonshadow that you claim Yorick of being "sexist"

LMAO! Yorkie is a chocolate bar! Haven't you seen the wrappers?

Kakero 04-14-2004 05:39 PM

hmmm..I give up. don't know what he's taling about.

johnny 04-14-2004 07:34 PM

He is a she, and what's taling ?

Kakero 04-14-2004 07:46 PM

err I mean talking. a little typo there.

Vaskez 04-14-2004 08:49 PM

LOL Kakero, use your brain. Why would DS start a topic called "it's not for girls" and then talk about being sexist if she was a guy? And as for your confusion....

Yorkie bar is a chocolate bar in Europe. On the cover it has a crossed out picture of a woman (the sketch you find on female toilet doors) saying the Yorkie bar is not for women as it's a chunky strong big bar of chocolate. It's a joke. That's what DS is talking about.

Ohh, that's why I couldn't get it, but of course that's something that everyone should obviously know

As for an answer to your question Dragonshadow, if you live in the states, I'm very sure you can sue them for emotional damage (God knows everyone has been sued for everything else already  ).

GokuZool 04-14-2004 11:06 PM

Maybe a visual would help -

http://www.houseofhotsauce.com/img/b...c02/yorkie.jpg

There's also a limited edition Blokie Bar. :D

Epona 04-14-2004 11:10 PM

They're shit anyway - too much sugar and not enough cocoa content. Women have better taste.

Kakero 04-14-2004 11:31 PM

ahh I see...the truth is that I never seen such chocolate before. I might wanna a taste of it...someday. :D

Bollocks! You're just pissed off cos you're not allowed it! :D Yorkies are the best! Kakero - you'd do well to get your hands on a box of Yorkies my friend. Just hide 'em from your girlfriend. :D

Firestormalpha 04-15-2004 12:09 AM

In the US you can sue anybody for just about anything, unless you have become obeise(sp?) and plan on blaming the fast food industry for it. I think it's either a bill or a law now (not sure how far it's gotten; I haven't been watching that topic all too closely). At any rate I wouldn't take a candy wrapper personally. Now if the store clerk wouldn't sell you the bar because of the wrapper and your being a girl, then you could potentially sue the shop, but over a candy bar? Or if you find a sufficient number of female persons ticked off or otherwise emotionally put out by the ad, you might be able to build a case against the company.

Don't take my word on that though. I'm not learned in the laws of my country let alone those of England

WillowIX 04-15-2004 06:39 AM

*giggles* I wonder what would happen should all bras be labelled "Men not allowed to touch". I bet there would be lawsuit after lawsuit.

DS, ignore it. It's probably made up by some 50 year old guy that still lives at home and never had a girlfriend. You know, the immature type. But then that describes 99% of the male population.

No stop trowing things at me! Timber said I could be sexist! Take it out on him!

To finish the post,

Melusine 04-15-2004 07:08 AM

LOL Willow. :D
We don't have Yorkie bars in the Netherlands but who needs them anyway? Let the men have 'em if they want... it won't compensate their inability to have MOs anyway *trying hard to remember family forum status of IW*

Donut 04-15-2004 08:44 AM

I love the Yorkie ads on the TV:

At a children's football match

Dad 1: Alan, get stuck in!
Dad 2: Johnny, run at him!
Mum: Graham, tuck your shirt in!

Vaskez 04-15-2004 09:35 AM

Willow and Mel.....oh dear..... I sense a lot of bitterness over this. You talk like you don't care but then have to come up with really harsh reprisals cos a bit further down it's really bothering you....didn't expect such insecurity from two down-ass females like you :D

Donut 04-15-2004 11:45 AM

Look here

Melusine 04-15-2004 12:08 PM

Ach, personally I don't find them offensive - I have made more misogynistic remarks in the past. As long as it's done in jest, of course. It goes without saying that serious hate towards women is despicable and disgusting. But jokes are fine with me. My only problem with Yorkie's is that I don't find them particularly funny or original.

Night Stalker 04-15-2004 04:28 PM

Willow, you might find that "DO NOT TOUCH" tactic fail on you. Everone knows that when you put a sign "DO NOT _____" up, that's the first thing a guy is gonna do!

Mel .... I'm ...... I ..... uh ...... I ...... I'm shocked I tell you! I'm mortified! I'm ............... jellous!

And so, after creating Man and Woman, God was handing out functions, capabilities, and abilities. When He was down to the last two, He said "Well, I only have two abilities left, the first one is Pee Standing Up, and ...." Before God finished or Eve could say anything, Adam blurted out impatiantly "OOooo! I want that!"

So God said "Ok, here you go. Well Eve, I guess that leaves you with MOs ...."

Bungleau 04-15-2004 04:51 PM

Hmmm... I know the surest way to get a guy to touch something is to put a sign on it that says "Wet Paint". But the surest way to make sure he doesn't? Hmmmm.... "Press here to register your opinion"? "Touch here to make a decision"? I can't decide.

I like the play on the new ad campaign -- "It's not for birds". That could almost work in the States, except you'd have to explain what a "bird" is...

Ehrys 04-16-2004 01:57 AM

ROFLMAO!!!! This is too amusing. Frankly, if the dude (I think we're all assuming it was a guy, eh?) who came up with this was expecting quite the attention it is getting, he's a genius and will make a killing.

Me, I don't eat chocolate. (err... Question: what's MO?)

Clue: the people on here are hormone-driven dodgy individuals ;)

...and in another context it can mean modus operandi i.e. style and way of operating...but not the meaning implied by dodgy Mel

I resemble that remark!!

Having said that,. if it weren't for rampant hormones, none of us would be here.

Look who's jealous now?
The reason I abbreviated it, BTW, is because even *I* thought it was too dodgy for a family forum. ;) Figure it out yourself, it's not that hard.

Ehrys 04-16-2004 12:09 PM

... OOOHHH... LOL!!! Oh man, I need to get out more.

Melusine 04-16-2004 12:15 PM

Or stay in, whatever floats your boat mate ;)

Ironbar 04-16-2004 12:23 PM

Once you are 18 you can have one, a yorkie that is.

LOL!!! Wonder if there was any controversial products like this here in Canada? I can't recall any off the top of my head.

Boats are always fun! ;)

drew_jarvie 04-16-2004 12:37 PM

The M is multiple the O is very pleasurable.

Go figure.

Ehrys 04-16-2004 12:41 PM

Thanks! Figured it out already from Mel and Vask. Someone mentioned something before about learning new stuff/ getting answers from this forum before... woo haa. ;-P

Cloudbringer 04-16-2004 12:51 PM

LOL, yup, the things you learn around here are uh..well besides dubious or dodgy... sometimes useful and often fun! ;) :D

Can't say I ever heard of the Yorkie candy before this. I think the bird ad would be amusing over here- people would be wondering who feeds candy to pigeons. :D

LOL, that reminds me of a pick-up line Donut once mentioned that I put to good effect shocking the hell out of someone. ;)
It sounds so innocuous too.... "Hello, would you like to come on my boat?"
What was that about learning new things on Ironworks..?

LOL!!! I'm sure you got an interesting reaction out of that one, eh? As for the candy-bird thing, it just so fits with a common comment we used to make of a lady friend of ours; used to watch what she ate/ ate such small portions that she might as well have been living off air and bird seed. ;)

We need more controversial fun stuff like this in Canada. :-P
