I sent my resume this morning, got a reply within half an hour, interviewed an hour or so later for an hour and a half and was offered the job four hours later.

I took the job! I'm so excited, this seems to be a job for the rest of my life!

Benefits are the best I've ever seen and it pays just slightly less than I was making previously. It is a BIG company that sells and repairs copiers called Imagistics.

So, so happy!

I guess congratulations are in order then. :D

Arledrian 03-30-2004 08:46 PM

Well done, Mark. I'm impressed with your resolve, since I congratulate myself every time I manage to worm out of getting a job.

Aelia Jusa 03-30-2004 09:26 PM

Mark, as I said in the other topic, many congratulations mate!! Well done!
When do you start?

Aledrain, thanks, I just choked on my morning tea. Writing my essay on Psychoanalysis (I kid you not) will be so much more fun now! :D

Davros 03-31-2004 05:08 AM

Well done Mark - I know how long you have been looking buddy, so I am pleased that things are looking up for you.

I start tomorrow, which was sooner than I expected, but fine by me! They seem to be a great company and this may be a job I can stick with for a long time.

6 sick days and 2 personal days/year
10 paid holidays/year
10 vacation days/year
401k retirement plan (company match up to 6%)
Health, dental, optical insurance after 30 days.
75% reimbursement for college courses - 100% towards a business degree.
No more ties... I can wear jeans and sweatshirts!

And about 3 months ago I applied for a job at a company call Symquest to fix printers and copiers. I had the experience and background for the job they posted, but never got a reply. An hour and half after I accepted the job with Imagistics I get a call asking me to interview with them (Symquest). It was really satisfying to say I had already accepted a job working for their competition!

Sometimes I win! :D

Seems like your new job has some great perks, Mark. You've been very lucky, all in all. It's hard to find a decent position here in New England these days.

And Mel, I'm happy to have contributed to the field of psychoanalysis in my own oblivious little way. It's a subject I'm fiercely passionate about and so strive to aid the development of essays concerning it as often as humanly possible. Or something. ;) :D

Today is the big first day. I kept waking up from 2:30 until I finally got out of bed at 4:30. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good night's sleep soon!

I went to the website for the company and I finally realized how big the company is. I've always seemed to worked for little businesses that were about to file for bankruptcy. This ought to be a refreshing change.

I was told the job was fast paced and I would need to do a bit of multitasking. This will be a welcome change since at my previous job I was usually looking for something to do!

Maybe I'll get some good exercise at work as well as biking at home! ;)

Good luck on your first day and CONGRATS on finding a job that looks like you'll be happy with it!

Congrats on the new job! May it work out well and long for you.

Now get some sleep, and let us know how it went

skywalker 04-01-2004 06:23 PM

Tough first day. Lots of resposibility, new software and procedures to learn....massive headache by the end of the day. Try it all again tomorrow. I expect it to get much easier as I catch on to their system.
;)

Congrats again, Mark!

You know the only downside is that now your's will count as one of the jobs created in March/April by the administration.

Mark that's fantastic! Awesome stuff mate. Congratulations and good luck.

Xen 04-02-2004 03:00 PM

Congrats and may the Force be with you. :D

Vaskez 04-02-2004 05:52 PM

Congrats!

Johnny and Kakero, you have been charged with the overuse of the :D smiley. It was completely unnecessary in both and in fact plain wierd in your post Kakero. When you overuse something it becomes worthless. :D is only for cheeky jokes or comments. :D

Ronn_Bman 04-02-2004 06:44 PM

:D

skywalker 04-03-2004 07:32 AM

Thanks for all the good words.

My second day was much better than the first (no pounding head ache)! There's really a lot to learn and a lot that has and can go wrong. So I need to really get up to speed and stay focused.

The last person in the job lasted a month and the one before him, a year. I'm going to try to stay a little longer, like 20 years. :D

After only 2 days, I'm happy to have 2 days off. How will survive 5 days in a row? ;)

Mark

TAOWolf 04-03-2004 06:41 PM

Stick with it!! You can do it!! :D

Ehrys 04-03-2004 11:13 PM

Skywalker... welcome to the darkside. ;)

Congratulations. I'm sure that you'll get the hang of everything right quick. And then you'll realize after a few years that it's time for the next goal: move up.

Good luck!
