Florida! What a bunch of no-driving idiots! Sorry Z (note my new home city) Light turns green? Hmmm well maybe they will accelerate after 10 seconds, when the light switches to yellow. Cruising along at 55 with a green light ahead? Yes slow down, a decision must be made apparently. Is it really green maybe? Who know knows whats going through the addled Florida mind. I could go no about how they drive gro9cery carts worse than the cars but I think you get the picture. Z is it the water? Help me!!!!!!

People in Florida can't drive.

Nerull 01-26-2004 09:34 PM

They drive bad in Florida. And Texas. And New York. And...

With everyone talking on cell phones, eating, reading, doing work on laptops, etc. while driving, is it any wonder that there are more and more bad drivers everywhere? Everyone is trying to cram in something in every single second of their day.

Ladyzekke 01-26-2004 10:28 PM

He just moved to Florida LOL.

Pauly, just smash em if they don't go when the light turns green

LOL, the other day I was late for a college class and so took my lunch into my car with me on the way there. I had everything all spread out on my lap and had just started to tuck in, when a cop suddenly shot past me on the highway. I dropped my bagel on my crotch and had a white cream-cheese smear there the rest of the day

Good luck with settling in down there by the way, Pauly

Bungleau 01-26-2004 10:59 PM

I did
NOT
need to read that after taking a drink, Aledrian!

Reminds me of the words of George Carlin...

"Just tryin' to ease him up into second gear! :D "

Good luck down there. I don't have much tolerance for that kind of driving. I enjoy driving in Boston... and Detroit... and Los Angeles... but not Chicago so much. Go figure.

Bahamut 01-27-2004 07:14 AM

good luck LoA... maybe you should drive around here... pretty nice... you can do pretty much whatever you want... :D

Donut 01-27-2004 07:25 AM

Pauly you fool! Those people aren't Americans! They're dang fool Brits trying to get to grips with driving on the wrong side of the road, cruise control, power steering and air conditioning!!!

Give us a break mate! :D

Kakero 01-27-2004 11:06 AM

hehe..looks like people haven't seen me driving yet. Cruising like 240mph on road....red light = green light etc. :D

quietman1920 01-27-2004 01:10 PM

Ha! The NY/NJ/CT area only has extremely good (but competitive) drivers. We retire our bad ones to Florida at age 55...

PS- if you think driving in Florida is dangerous, try eating dinner in a restaurant 4pm. You'll be beaten about the head & neck with walkers and canes.

Ziroc 01-27-2004 02:59 PM

Yeah, they drive like crap mostly here. *I* am from a bigger City in Kentucky (Louisville) a huge city, and yeah, turn light arrows are silly for most turns.

It's mainly 3 things:

1. People Retiring here (older folk)
2. Over population when the roads are still small
3. Tourists

Me? Hell, I get where I'm going just fine, and zip past those slow pokes. Here is my view:

Whatever the speed limit is, DOUBLE it, and that is the Z-Speed rule! :D

*Not responsible for you getting tickets if you follow these instructions.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-27-2004 04:01 PM

If Dave Barry is any indication, Miami isn't full of slowpokes...
"Green light- Go
Yellow light- Accelerate
Red light- Accelerate while gesturing"

(Actually, sounds like New Jersey and New York to me...)

You would find yourself at home here in Italy...

Lord of Alcohol 01-27-2004 05:58 PM

Obviously I was aggravated yesterday lol, Gainesville sucks! Luckilly I'm not there too often. Yea Z I noticed everyone drives way over the speed limit EXCEPT in the little towns. I do as the locals do there and do the limit Cant we send all the retired people to Canada? Or would that be like a declaration of war? hehe

Gabrielles blades 01-27-2004 07:04 PM

mmm theres good reasons why people do those things in florida.
waiting a few seconds after the light changes to green before accelerating can save you from an accident since a lot of people tend to do that accelerate when yellow thing and end up doing 60 across an intersection with a red light.

slowing down when coming towards green lights is also sometimes a good idea - a few lights i frequent change from green to red too fast for one going well over the speed limit to stop in time. i tend to try to slow down to the speed limit around those particular lights and of course hit the gas right after i pass the light if it didnt change on me.

as for the grocery carts....well my mom actually is a cause of many grocery cart accidents and its usually cuz shes staring at the grocery list instead of watching where shes going.

Hivetyrant 01-28-2004 06:49 AM

I would have to say that Australian drivers are not that bad, I'm on my L's (Learners, going for my provisional licence soon) and so people are either nice or just avoid me alltogether, but anyway, I was driving through Sydney a few weeks ago on one of those roads where there are two roads on either side of a fence, each with two lanes, both going the same way, when suddenly as we went over a slight hill, just as i moved back into the left lane, some crazy person is driving towards us in the right lane! (which is supposed to be going the other way) if i had left it any longer, we would have hit each other when we were both doing around 80km/h!

And you know what the funniest thing is? She was a Volvo driver

By the way I mean no offence to Women or volvo drivers, I like Both very much
Especially the "Bloody Volvo driver" adds.

Bahamut 01-28-2004 09:22 AM

Drive here... you can drive like the wind... hehehe :D

Problem is... everybody here are also speed and sensible freaks... so it's more frustrating...

Up here people don't want to get their BMWs and Mercedes all dented up...i think we should just remove people who are incapable of driving over 40 on the highway, starting immediately at green lights, turning right on a red light when theres nobody else around, staying in one lane and not swerving; like this
... or we could sit in our cars and curse at them like we do now...

Is this an insult to Canada or just a stupid joke?
An insult, obviously. To quote Robin Williams-
"Canada is like the loft apartment over a really great party." :D

I can't remember the last time I drove the speed limit, I'm always at least 10 over

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-28-2004 03:47 PM

I think that the old people would freeze in Canada. We could send them to Mexico instead... ::gets a mental image of spring break in Cancun, with two old people for every attractive person:: Geh.. Florida it is, then. We can kick it out of the union. Castrate America!

And I heard a female comedian say that Canada was like America's attic. "You go up there and you're like, I comletely forgot all this <censored> is up here! There's people living here, stores.."
I forget her name, but she was funny. Anyone? She was on Comedy Central Presents.

Gab 01-29-2004 03:57 PM

That's it!!! I'm tired of all you people insulting my country!! I could say a hundred insults about the U.S. It's not the only country that's cold. Quite acting so ignorant. The very southern part of Canada is almost no colder than the Northern part of the Unites States (like New York)

And stop all this sh*t about old people freezing!!
I need to calm down as I'm almost furious from such statements.

Is this an insult to Canada or just a stupid joke?
Gab, easy there. I think you are reading too much into LoA's last comment there. I at least find it more insulting to elders than to Canada. And LadyB always posts cheeky comments. ;) I hope you have more pride of our country than to be insulted by such comments.

Anywho, I am one of the drivers you dislike Pauly. I always drive about 10 km/h below the limit when I have my children in the car.

Gab, let me say that I love Canada. I think people make fun of it because they're jealous. I forget who said this, but it's true:
"They have free medical care... They have almost no crime... Their environment is pristine.. Can somebody please explain to me WHY we make fun of them?"

The same reason we make fun of you? Neighborly teasing??

Edit: I'm assuming you are an American.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-29-2004 05:50 PM

Aye, that makes enough sense
(And yes. For now.)

Lord of Alcohol 01-29-2004 06:40 PM

Obviously I have offended a few people for my idea to send the old people to Canada to freeze to death.I'm very sorry it was not my intention to offend so I apologise. So I propose we send the old people to Mexico instead as suggested. Well...actually the Gulf of Mexico. Snip drivers license in half then throw them out of the back a C-130 transport plane Since there are no Mexicans on the Ironworks that I know of this should offend nobody

Gab 01-29-2004 08:52 PM

I'm sorry if I overreacted. It just seemed that remarks like sending people to Canada and freezing to death seemed like an insult.

Lord of Alchohol should have more respect for his elders :D

Lord of Alcohol 01-29-2004 09:05 PM

But I am elderly, I'll be 40 next month ;)Off too the Gulf soon

Lanesra 01-29-2004 10:21 PM

I hear you bro, a few years back Donut and myself had just eaten a fine meal at ED LOBSTER , came out and turned left, just as I do at home, the next thing there's hundreds of cars coming towards me in the distance, I could understand it if one person had made such a stupid mistake, but so many of them, I ask you

They grow them stupid everywhere, Florida just happens to be where they go to retire ;) And beleive me PT Barnum way under estimated the birthrate of suckers/stupid.

quietman1920 01-30-2004 01:48 PM

I wasn't really trying to make fun of either Florida or Canada. In truth, I should be vacationing both places within the next 3 years.

Unless that in itself is the insult/Act of War.
;)

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-30-2004 02:41 PM

You never know. Did you see Canadian Bacon?
