my sleeping pattern has been completely absurd since the end of the xmas holidays

example: today i went to bed at 10 Pm, woke up at 4 AM and have school at 7
it is advantageous as im not just woken up by the time i get to school, but it is pretty bizarre

just wondering if anyone has this?

Gangrell 01-11-2004 11:52 PM

Yea, mine has been pretty bizarre too since the end of Christmas Break. I can't explain it, but when I get home, I can be full of energy and be out like a light three hours later at 6 pm and sleep until six in the morning. Been like that everyday this past week. Maybe there's something in the water causing this, who knows

I constantly have odd sleeping patterns, like no sleep at all unfortunatly. When I do get sleep its either for a few hours or half a day :D

Yeps, if I sleep at all I sleep only for about 4 hours at a time, usually in the day... If I fall asleep at night I usually wake up around 4 or so.

My exgirlfriend said I was a hopeless insomniac...

Sleep whats that? You should try working 12 hour night shifts

SomeGuy 01-12-2004 10:13 PM

I want to sleep in more often now does that count?

Hyper as can be at 4, out like a light at 9:30, and dragging myself out of bed at 7 to go to school...bizarre just about cuts it.

If left to my own devices, I would become nocturnal. It's a real effort to go to bed before about 1am even if I'm tired - I feel as if I'm wasting my life while asleep!

shadowhound 01-13-2004 07:11 AM

Last year during school holidays I did go nocturnal, slept during the day and was up and active during the night. Only saw parents as they were going to bed and I was getting up for breakfast.

I woke up at 4 PM the last couple of days, does that count (BTW i am on school holidays)

Jaradu 01-13-2004 11:21 AM

I have a friend who became an insomniac over christmas!

Calaethis Dragonsbane 01-13-2004 12:01 PM

mI tend to go to bed at 4, maybe 5 am... like I did yesterday. My timetable is such that... I have a 12 hour day on monday, and I don't have to be in until 1 on tuesday, but end at 9pm... and wednesday is my day off. At the earliest, I'm not in bed before 2 or 3... not good...

shadowhound 01-13-2004 04:53 PM

There was the time a few years ago that ended up with me doing this.

Thats the same with me. I rarely go to bed before 12:30AM, even if I have school, thats just the way my internal clock works. If I got bed earlier than said time, I'll be tossing and turning until that time passes. The one thing about me though is that I'll wake up around 11pm, so it's not like I'm losing sleep ;) :D

NiceWorg 01-13-2004 07:39 PM

Yesterday I hit the sack at 9am, but that was the extreme. Waking up at 2pm is nothing unusual. But if there´s not at least 7 hours of sleep per night, I have to pump myself full of coffeine. :/

Firestormalpha 01-13-2004 10:40 PM

How about to bed at earliest by 1:30 and up by 8 no matter what?

PsycoticKurby 01-13-2004 11:31 PM

i have a crazy routine too. i don't know how to get out of the habit. i stay awake until around midnite each nite, normally on my computer. then i go to bed. but i don't actually fall asleep till like 3 in the morning. but i alwaws wake up around 5:30, either to go to the bathroom or to turn down the heat on my water bed, then to fall back into an uneasy sleep. only to wake up a half an hour later to take a shower and get ready for school....... it is very odd like most of your sleeping patterns

Lady Blue03 01-14-2004 12:02 AM

Maybe the question should be who has regular sleeping habits. How many go to bed at like 11pm and get up at 7am :D

Absolutely. I cannot tell you how many times I've face-planted in my morning oatmeal.

it is 5:30 Am and i just woke up

Niadh 01-14-2004 11:02 AM

My paterns are very out right now, and I need to get better soon. I wake up at 7-12, totally random. And get to sleep at 11-6, again random. I feel good though.

Grojlach 01-14-2004 12:34 PM

My sleeping patterns have been bizarre ever since I moved into my current apartment... Incredibly bad isolation, making it too hot in the evening to fall asleep (thanks to my frowstering land-lady and her triggerhappy central heating  ), while I always wake up ridiculously early because of the cold (!); I can't even recall the last time my voice wasn't hoarse upon waking up. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...ons/icon37.gif
Anyways, trying to find another apartment now. ;)

so did you complete the challenge then? The topic just seemed to .......end........! No explanation of what happened!

Yeah, I was curious too...and if you did, how long did you sleep for afterwards? :D You must have had a messed up routine afterwards for a long while...

I recently learned that the optimum time to sleep is 12 - 6am, as your body temperature is lowest during that period. It is hottest at 8am and your body's metabolism is also the most efficient at that time, so it's the best time to have breakfast. The teacher who told me this also warned that your body clock can only be wound forward, so if you want to get into a sleeping routine go to bed 3 hours later each night...so one day at 11pm, next at 1am, then 4am etc...until you reach something like 10 or 11pm and stick with it. He said it works well.
I found it quite interesting...he told us other stuff like your pain/strength tolerance is highest during the late afternoon, around 5 - 6pm.
