Title explains it all. For me it was my birthday present when I was about eight. It was a Sega Mega Drive which I played for about roughly seven years non stop. Even as recently as last year I would still power it up for a blast off Jungle Strike, Street Fighter II or Sonic 3. It's now gathering dust in the attic but I will always remember it with a smile on my face.

So, what's the best gift you've ever received?

Stormymystic 09-30-2003 10:47 AM

honestly, I did not get many gifts as a child (do not ask why), so I think the best gift I got was a 1979 Chevy Caprice Classic, 2 door, police grade engine I miss that car

Statue my grandmother gave me for birthday 3 weeks before she died... it's very special to me for very obvious reasons I'd guess.

Also my exgirlfriend (now just a friend) from Germany made me a Dreamcatcher, it's very beautiful and very nicely made.

a commemorative coin which by now is worth much more than originally, when it was in circulation

When people say thank you after I helped them out in some way. Its not needed but it sure feels rewarding enough and puts a smile on my face.

I once got a 67 Chevy pickup, in good shape, i loved that truck, but my brother caught it on fire. Best gift though, was a zippo lighter. Nothing fancy, but the girl who gave it to me was very special, and it meant alot from her, next best was my copy of NWN's. Starting to sound like CB, lol, but i love that game.

Not to sound like a sap but being a father ranks up there with being the best gift. And before Sydney. I would have to say.... my first car a 1965 ford falcon that got me around the town. :D

Our second son Thomas was born on my(now our) birthday in 95... I told my wife that'd be a tough one to beat.

id have to say my computer...what would i do without it? probably something healthy or educational, or otherwise useful stuff *shudder*

Gangrell 09-30-2003 03:26 PM

There's two for me, on my last birthday, my parents got me out of the house for about 6 hours (wasn't too bad, caught some more Z's) and when I came back my room had a new bed, dressers, tv, and everything. It was great :D

The one that ranks second is probably when I first got my Ps2 and so many games, it kept me occupied for about 2 months

Pirengle 10-01-2003 11:31 PM

Best gift in the universe was making offhand comment about pretty orchids to sig other and five months later recieving one. She remembered!!! And it was pretty. :D

Bungleau 10-02-2003 12:05 AM

Best gift I've received was a travel wallet. Contains passport, frequent traveler cards... zippers up so I don't lose the receipts I cram into it...

My beloved gave it to me about five years ago, and I've used it ever since. I can't imagine travelling without it.

May not seem grandiose or glorious, but is it effective...

Kakero 10-02-2003 01:43 AM

My best gift I ever received is a second chance in life after I nearly died from a sickness.

Sir Goulum 10-02-2003 02:46 PM

I'm glad your better now Kakero whatever your illness was . Luckily although I've had some bad things happen to me I've never had anything life threatning...

BaRoN NiGhT: You don't get gifts? Not even on your birthday or anything?

Thanks for the responses!

#1 would be a Winchester 30-06 bolt action rifle with a Bushnell 800 scope. Unfortunately, my temporary move to Alaska never happened. Now all it does is shoot targets. It still makes you feel like a sniper! ;)

2# A Dremel tool kit. VERY handy!

3# A Sony DVD player.

4# Various articles of nice designer clothing.

I also try to get nice gifts for people.

Kaltia 10-04-2003 08:44 AM

Mine was my own computer. No longer did I have to share a sticky keyboard with my brother, who seemed to throw everything he drank over it; nor did I have to defrag, uninstall and re-install games every week due to Karl filling the system up with crap like "101 Dalmations Paint Studio". Nor did I have to pop the ball out of the rollerball to clean it every other day, or fight for my right to do my english homework on the computer over his right to play Diablo.
