Seriously. Say if a person just joined IW, and spammed for posts so he could get better ranks. In the Rules&Regulations, you'll have posts taken away, so what happens if you go beyond zero? Will you have -4 and be considered a New Member, or will the counter go to the highest number of posts such as 10000000 and you'll have the highest rank? Or is does it simply go to however the webmaster programmed it?

Got some evil plans ? :D
|
Nah, just bored with life ;)
|
There's no point in spamming to get better ranks as the ranks are in no particular order. I mean you get things like Knight of the Rose much later than you get Gold Dragon - just one example.

Hey, it was the only hypothetical situation that would allow someone to get negative ranks. And sadly enough, ppl on other forums do try spamming for ranks... Sheesh. But seriously, what would happen?
|
I believe that when you get into negative post land, Choc stalks over, eats your mouse, and bans you from IW. For life, unless you want to be a cat's plaything. And if you're the plaything, you can't come out in public anyway

Lol, I'll agree with bungleau on that one. But that means Choc is cyber cat, he can go through the internet and appear out of computer monitors hooked up, scary...

Many dogs won't appreciate it, and soon enough the dogs will be holding a 2 by 4, just waiting for Choc's head to appear... And so, the Dog&Cat War will start once again, and only a certain Irish Setter will have the power to end it.

AHHH, Choc has been posted!!!! It has begun, dogs all around the world are tensing up. And I have my rusty shotgun next to me, though what use it'll do beats me, I'll just end up with a new monitor...
|
Theorectically, I suppose it is possible. To me tne only think Post Counts show MAYBE is how long you have been a member and how active you are. BUT there are people who have been members for a long and just lurk and read. So it really doesn't mean anything.

TL, ROTFLLAO! My my is everyone a little bored today? Seriously though, it would be an experience to see a member with -121 posts or something. Perhaps we could talk johnny in to signing up as a lab rat for this new experiment. :D |
There is one of those members with very few posts running around, spammi- er, I mean posting at a number of different boards. I think it's kind of fun, watching to see when Choc will order the mods to pounce...
|
I don't really know, though I doubt that if the posts hit a negative amount, their status will go to Iron Throne Cult. Though as of late, I was accused of spamming in the BG2 Forum, bloody hell I guess I'll have to remember which is a discussion area and a game area

Who said the post reduction was scripted and not done by a human being?

I thought by negative posts you meant "Your momma's So fat she makes your posts seem bigger" and such. I don't thinkt he system allows for negative numbers... Seriously...

<span style="color: lightblue">The postcount modifying would probably be as /)k describes - the number of posts is typed in by hand. There would thus be no need for negative postcount support, and so it would be an unsigned (absolute) value.
However, there would obviously need to be two scripts involved to deal directly with the postcount (forgetting ranks): one to increment it by one when you post, and one to decrement it by one when a post is deleted. So, it would have to be limited at 0 - no wraparounds to a high number, or someone who's postcount is set to 0 for spamming could theoretically gain many many ranks simply by deleting one of their posts. |
