Which type of style do you like to play?? As a fighter, magic user, thief, strategic, hack n slash, etc.
I like to play as a Paladin using hack n slash, unless the hard enemies come. |
I like to play sleepy style LOL
But honestly spealing i just like to summon "hordes" of creatures and let them do the dirty h2h work, i just like to pick enemies from a distance with spells. Playing hack and slash for me is only fun in Unreal, when you feel the rush. BG2 is just a smooth game. |
Total annihilation with spells.
|
I prefer melee combat plus protective spells. If it does not pass then I summon powerful allies like Mordekainen Swords, Skeletal Warriors and so on.
|
<font color="gold">Cavalier, bashing with his two-handed sword on any foe in sight is the style for me. </font>
|
Hack n' slash is my type of game. Often with a fighter character or sometimes with a thief, though when playing a thief I let the other ones in the party do all the slashing. ;)

Hello,
when I played BG1/TOSC, it was missles, maybe a spell or two, missles, then maybe melee; when I played BG2, it was spells (maybe something from Firetooth) and melee, spells and melee, melee, melee; when I played BG2/TOB, it was spells then melee. Summoning critters is a good tactic (it's how I beat Sarevok without a scratch to my party), but my higher level warriors were just so effective (dual powerful weapons, special abilities) that summoning anything less than a pit fiend, deva, or palantar was just casuing a delay for the grinding machine to get into action. Nothing like getting the party juiced-up on the most powerful protection and augmentation spells, and then unleashing them!!!!!!!!! - Twilight |

Hey Kiyatha, I must say. Cool Sig Pic. Very cool.
|
I like to hack and slash with my expierience capped monk using quivering palm!
|
Single Mage....Firearrows and skulltraps...aahhh pure artistry

I dont know HOW you people can just play a mage and watch your party members have all the fun while you cast spells from a distance. I have never played a straight mage of any king nor a theif. I allways have to be a fighter, fighter/mage or paladiny type person. Love to be a dwarf rinning around peoples legs smashing knea caps with Crom Feyer.

Dagorion..that is the lowest way to play BG(kidding,i only find it booring) ! It doesnt take any skill or knowledge of which spells to use in the proper moment ! which is kind of hard !
Now i know on before hand what to use on what, but in the beginning it is really hard ! So therefor it is a lil more fun. [ 07-20-2002, 10:14 AM: Message edited by: Kronostia ] |
Tank Rush.
nuff said Although sometimes for variety or cos of positioning issues i like to open up with a Spell Barrage From Hell (Three mages, Three chain contingencies, Nine Abi-Dhalzims Horrid Wiltings. One dead kobold.) Or maybe a missile salvo or six. |
I like playing either conjurer or swashbuckler in D&D, not hack and slash.
Conjurer: Chain Contingency filled with Delayed Blast Fireball, Horrid Wilting, and Prismatic Spray/Skull Trap Spell Trigger filled with Chain lightning, Flame arrow/Chromatic orb Spell trap, fire shield red, stoneskin All those together= Mass destruction and mayhem. __________________________________________________ __ Thief: I cheated and, using shadowkeeper, gave my swashbuckler (after beating firkraag and kicking Mae'var butt) the abilities Shapeshift greater werewolf (for the firkraag one) and Offensive Spin (for the mae'var quest) Shapeshift Greater Werewolf + Offensive Spin= One mauled up hell wraith sarevok. Using those abilities, I can do around 30 damage each hit, and hit the target about once every one or two seconds. Edit: Without using those abilities, my Swashbuckler still does around 24 damage each hit, one hit every 4 or 5 seconds. [ 07-20-2002, 06:03 PM: Message edited by: Willard ] |

Er... it seems im out voted in this one... except for Waldie of course, at lest SOMEONE aggreas with me. To tell you the truth i have only ever used any of the summon monsters spells once or twice even though i have been through the game at least 8 times. There is just no honour in it. I like to play a cavalier, you can run around destroying evil and still maintain honour in the fact that you were in the thick of it all with a 2 handed sword, swatting down monsters with a manical smile on your face.
|
I prefer a hack in slash style. The only time I really use magic is casting breach, secret word etc to bring down a mages defences. The rest of the time I wade in to the thick of the combat with Mazzy and Keldorn and kick some butt.

I love backstap. It's my favorite way to end my foes lives.
Quiet, clean, fast, with great damage. Assassin is always my best choice. |
Tanks get no fun if the Mage kills all the enemies before they reach the frontline. ;)
Just kidding... well... not really... ... http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/ponder.gif Seriously though, different strokes for different people. I just like winning a battle in less than a turn( usually 1-4 rounds). |
