I was cleaning out some drawers, and found all my 'love letter's' from all my girlfriends in MIDDLE SCHOOL and High school :D . God, I remember meeting up with this hot chick at the skating rink (hahah) She was Hawaiian, and I was just moving to Florida *1989* (I was 16), and she wrote me letters and sent them to florida where I was, after I had left. wild...
Sure brings back memories.. Any of you still have any of those notes or letters? ;) [ 07-23-2003, 01:25 PM: Message edited by: Ziroc ] |
I don't have any because I never got any. My current bf is the only nice one I've ever had.
I do, however, have old letters from friends that I've kept and some tapes from my cousin who would send me tapes with him talking and some music that he liked rather than writing. |
Yep, got a whole bunch of them, including pictures, postcards, etc...
I don't know why i keep them though, i guess for sentimental reasons. |
Only the ones to and from Galadria, for obvious reasons. ;)

I was cleaning out the basement and found some letters and cards from boyfriends when I was 15 and 16! OMG! Yes! They had pencils and not stone tablets then! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/biggrininvert.gif
I also found my POW bracelet. Did anyone else have one? It was a bracelet engraved with the name and rank of a POW in Viet Nam. My Navy pilot was released at the "end" of the conflict and I got to see him de-plane. I wore that bracelet for 3 years - HE WAS IMPRISONED AND MIA for 3 years. How soon we forget! |

Hehe... does your wife know about the hot chic at the skating rink, Z? ;) LOL! Seriously though, that's kind of cool....a little blast from the past!
I don't have stuff like that, just some cards and letters ...someplace, and I really hope I find them, I have letters my dad sent me while he was stationed in Viet Nam. |

Yah! I used to keep them, but eventually I tossed them all. I was such a romantic back than, I have since tossed them. Hard to keep girlfriends when they see old love letters.

I forgot to add that my boyfriend has all his girfriends' snapshots as a screensaver (along with any other photos he ever took in his life!) I see ALL of his old girlfriends, ex-wife,....not only that but we have dinner with one of his ex's LOL http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/biggrin.gif
He may have an old codger reputation elsewhere but he has a great rapport with all his ex's! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/giggles.gif |

Jim does that with me now and again.. especially as his last ex before me was a really close friend of his for years before they turned it romantic and it went out the window... But I never worry much or long, it's just little bits that pass quickly enough. Cool that you kept in touch, even if it's not often. :D |
We broke up because I moved from Louisville, Ky to Florida (Lakeland). And the year we moved here, she came down and her grandmother LIVED in LAKELAND!!!!!!! So I wasn't going out with anyone at the time, and we hooked up And did again the next year. (The yearly visit to Grandmoms) :D . She moved to Texas though, and is probably married..
She was my TRUE first love, and you never ever forget those. |

I never kept any love letters though. I have to admit that the stack wasn't to large, the dear John pile was just as large. |
I used to keep my love letters (I got attached for the first time in Uni, but the relationship broke off after 2-3 years). During the summer hols when we were still lovey dovey, we used to exchange letters (he stayed on in the UK for his PhD studies while I returned to Asia for a break). There must have been around 40 letters from him alone (we wrote to each other at an average of 1 letter per day).
But I tore them up last year, along with my 5-6 diaries, because I knew I had to move on and not cling to the past. Once in a while, I question the wisdom of that decision but my heart does feel lighter generally these days |
well now.. i still have mine from grade school.. when i was still in grade 5 or 6.. it brings out old good memory of how innocent i was then

cute topic! :D
well i have all of my present girlfriend in one or two envelopes... letters from retreat... there that i have... kara is only my first, and regarding my first love... well... nothing... i didn't really write her any... i wish i had been cheesy then... it adds so much fun to the relationship... |
I used to have love letters from days gone by... it was interesting re-reading them once upon a time. Amazing how when you're not in the relationship, you can see more of the other person's point of view...
Anyway, after a particularly difficult breakup, it was time to move on and leave the past behind. So I did... in ashes. Quite the personal ceremony it was, but I released them all to their lives and got on with mine. So far, so good ;) |
Yeah, but who said this-- "You can't have a future without building on the past" :D
I enjoy keeping memories from the past, but I don't dwell on the past. |
My mom and dad recently sold the house I grew up in. My mom called me up and said she had found something that was mine while packing. It turned out to be a sealed envelope and written on the front were the words "do not throw out" in my 17 year old hand writing. Im now 36 so Imagine my surprise when I opened it up to find about 20 or so love letters and notes from friends from high school! Sorta like opening a door to the past!

I just got 2 weeks ago. :D
|
Pretty much all of my relationships have ended badly/painfully, so I've always thrown out any photos or letters. I don't enjoy thinking back to the times I've spent with girlfriends. I'm unable to think of any of my exes in a positive light. All I can do is learn from where I went wrong and correct certain things so as not to make the same mistakes twice. Not that all my relationships ended due to me, of course. I've just been a bit unlucky in lurve.
