Sometimes, it appears that my characters have "lost" an item. I'm not sure if I did it or not, but at times I am positive that I have not. One time, I had then Gensen bow string, put it in my bag of holding, and then didn't see it when I went to get it. Hmm... I'm just curious if anyone here ever has that happen.

whacky 07-16-2002 12:44 PM

Yeah i just had the same problem and lost Gensen bow shaft , and wave blade shaft, its just not fair !!

Zarr 07-16-2002 12:44 PM

I remember once I checked Valygar and his armour had disappeared. I managed to find it at the scene of a battle but it really worried me at the time, thats the only case I've had of something disappearing. BTW can't Nishruus drain items away from you so maybe that's what happened to your gesen bow. Maybe you were attacked and the item was drained, just a thought.

FelixJaeger 07-16-2002 12:46 PM

hmmn i have a big problem with this its taken away my shadow dragon ward stone (which i was just on my way to kill) and them acorns for the dyrads and some other stuff. i suggest you guys try and get shadowkeeper its great if you want to add items stolen/lost/disappeared.

I don't know... I checked Aerie when I was in the Underdark and her armor had disappeared as well. However, I had a saved game really close to that point, so I just reloaded and didn't have any problems.

Zarr 07-16-2002 12:50 PM

Felix where can you get shadowkeeper, and is it a long download? I only have a 56k modem.

philip 07-16-2002 01:10 PM

I had it with the Sling of Seeking. Anomen used it and after a time it suddenly was lost.

To Zarr: It's here http://www.mud-master.com/shadowkeeper/
(It's about 300 kb so you shouldn't have problems with downloading it)

Zarr 07-16-2002 02:35 PM

Thanks Philip now I'll know where to get it if I ever need it. I don't think I'll bother with it now though unless I find myself needing it because I'd be too tempted to cheat and max out my characters stats etc.

FelixJaeger 07-16-2002 02:42 PM

hmmn also if ur modding (thats the only reason i got it) and it also comes in handy when your rele stuck or have made a bad choice (e.g. weapon profs..u can take the ones away u dont need and put them into the one you want..)

This seems to happen sometimes when your characters get affected by fear or panic or something like that.

Zarr 07-16-2002 02:50 PM

Interesting, I never knew that. Thanks Cannibal Monkey that explains alot!

<font color="lightblue">If your character SAYS "I had to drop your item on hte ground", or something similar, hit "i" IMEDIATELY- don`t move anywhere. What was dropped will be in list of "Ground Items". </font>

You can max out your PC's stats if you use the Ring of Human Influence (Kalah) and the Girdle of Hill giant strength (Adventurer's mart). however, I didn't find any differences than without using this with some stats (which you don't use) lower.

<font color="lightblue">NIshruu only drain items with charges. </font></font>
...Which is also a bug, as they're only supposed to drain the charges, not the entire items. I think Baldurdash has patches for it... Though I think the official BG2 patch took care of this problem as well.

<font color="lightblue">According to the manual, they drain one charge per attack; destroying the item if only one charge is left... I`ve heard of a bug with that "wrapping" to ALOT of charges instead of destroying it, though ;) </font>

KaZAA 07-17-2002 08:41 AM

I think the item dissapearing has something to do with bag of holding
and gem bag.i think if you save with more than one bag (cheating) it gets rid of some of the items

SixOfSpades 07-17-2002 06:48 PM

Cannibal Monkey was right on the money with the Fear bit, although as I recall there's only one spell that can actually make you drop items, and that's Cloak of Fear.

(Hardly realistic, too: "Oh my God! I am under attack by horrendous forces I could never defeat, who want to rip me open and eat my spleen! I think I'll take off my armor and fling it to the ground!")

The Bag of Holding bug occurs when the character has one Bag, and then imports in another Bag with the exact same code. The same code means, essentially, the same Bag, which means each one will mirror the other. Take an item out of one Bag, it's vanished from the other as well. There's also a bug where the first few items in the Bag cannot be changed: Take them out, sell them, open up the Bag again, they're back. That one I don't understand.

I had Aerie carrying all my pieces for magical weapons, gesen shaft, wave blade, etc. and a Nishiru wiped them all out (I HATE that).
So be wary of Nishirus!!

Someone also wiped out my spider ring in the twisted rune..but the battle was so tough that I ate the loss. Always check inventory after a major battle with mages.

Also make sure your main char never has a full inventory, when talking with people and they give you an item, you will automatically drop an item on the ground (Uh..yeah, I really want to throw away a 3+ bow for a freakin' figurine or something..).

Shwen 07-19-2002 12:26 AM

I often loose items, it just recently happened to a tob item that you need to upgrade a tob h..... if you know what I mean. \/
I downloaded the baldurdash fixpack...maybe that will fix this bug...

SecretMaster 07-19-2002 12:44 AM

I just keep all important items and item pieces in a storage container.

Daniel 07-19-2002 08:59 PM

Prehaps it was a nishruu, Lots of people have had problems losing equipment either from there inventory or sometimes the armour right off there backs and in the end it always seems to be the work of a nishruu

For those of you who dont know Nishruu's destroy magic items when they attack you and you dont normally realise they are gone until a few saves after when its too late

P.S Nishruu is probabally spealt wrong sorry

<font color="gold">It aint. ;)

I never have problems with losing items. All my important stuff is always in some container, though it have never happened to me that anything have been stolen from my inventory either. </font>

Kronostia 07-21-2002 01:04 AM

Exxon...how do u get the patient to run around to different containers and get ya stuff back ?!?!?!?!?!??! :D

I would go on a killing rampage and slaughter everyone in trademeet...hmmm no wait...i do that anyway...ah well..nice to finally have a motivation for doing it :D

Nobody 07-21-2002 05:32 AM

I do the same thing as Exxon does. That's the safest way to protect my items from "eating" by bug or something.

And running around is sometimes not so annoying when you use the "debug cheat" to warp between dungeons and cities !
