Are you afraid of spiders? I am... my friend is weird. He loves spiders... yack!
It gives me the creeps... |
Nope, in my line of work i bump into them a lot, they're always in front of windows somehow. Then again, we don't have any deadly critters like in Oz. :D
|
hmm... its ok as long its not the long legged kind.. or the big tarantula unless there is a trainer with it.
|
spiders are such cute animals
i could fluffy them all day, but they'd be squished then :/ |
spiders are evil, scary, dangerous an im terrified of them ARGGH!
|
No but getting a web in the face is a little "phooey".
Spiders are small and harmless in Denmark. |

besides spiders cant hurt you... |
That is not entirely true Rikard, some spiders can hurt you, although it is the wast minority of them. And if they do decide to hurt (or at least make an effort at it) it is in self defence, some spiders are more paranoid than others though.
Personally I've got nothing against spiders, in fact, I've got one with a 6 inch leg span sitting on the shelf. Wonderfull little critter. |

Yes they can be pretty big and harmful. Seen a lot of animal programs. The Black Widow is a little devil. |

Bird spiders
"The largest spider of this family has a body 60mm long and a leg span of 160mm and is almost <font color= "red">the size of a man's hand. </font> Bird Eating Spiders are covered with velvety hairs and have small eyes in a clump on the front of their head. Their legs are covered in long hairs. They have claw tufts which enable them to run up smooth surfaces" It is poisonous but will not kill you unless you are in poor health or have a weak heart Oh btw they are called bird spiders because they eat birds |
Mwahahaha, that's nothing wellard, some spiders get twice that size.
|
No I'm not afraid of spiders. As a matter of fact I don't have a phobia against any animal ( or anything else for that matter), I'm just being cautious with obviously dangerous animals. The same things with rats, aside from that they can spread deseases and I don't really want them in my home, I'm not afraid of them. Spiders on the other hand I usually leave alone in their corner as they eat flies and other insects.
We should be happy we don't live in Faerūn where Swordspiders and Direspiders lurks in every dark corner. |

we have bigger spiders and we have the most deadly spiders. my old house used to have spiders *small* with a white stripe that would not kill you but if you were allergic to the poison it could leave you with a gruesome disfigurement. I'll try to find the link to some pics |
It appears that this one is the most dangerous spider on the block. Interresting little critters they have down under.

In answer to the original question.....Only when there are a bunch of them crawling on me....or...when Im locked in a small room with many spiders and no way out. hope no one has graphic dreams now ;) </font> |

this is a quote from the white stripe spider link (johnny's link) The white-tailed spider (Lampona cylindrata), and bites from some other spiders, such as the common black window or house spider (Badumna species), the cupboard or brown spider, and (in the US)the brown recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) and hobo spiders (Tegenaria agrestis), have been infrequently implicated in the development of the so-called necrotising arachnidism syndrome, in which a near-painless bite progresses to painful cutaneous blistering and inflammation which may progress into intensely cyanotic lesions, occasionally resulting in substantial recurrent local tissue necrosis with a deep rolled ulcer involving fat and skin and exposing muscle. Amputation has been required for severe necrosis, and ulcer recurrence may last for years. Our old house had hundreds of these!!!! but do not let any of this put you off visiting. the locals (Human) are friendly [ 07-10-2003, 11:25 AM: Message edited by: wellard ] |
I'm scared of spiders. I had a nightmare about spiders in my room the other night; it was awful. We get quite a lot of huntsmen in our house in the summer, which I am well aware are not dangerous, but I'm not afraid of getting bitten by spiders, I'm afraid of them running over me, which huntsmen could do easily. I don't mind them outside where they catch bugs but not in my house.
|
I'm not scared of spiders. though I have a tendency to immediately kill one if I happen to bump into one.
|
mm it depends on the spider and the situation ...i woke up n there was a spider on my bed which was rather scary but im not usually scared of them

For all the arachnaphobia that is present in so many parts of the world, I've still never seen any species on Earth dish out more unnecessary death, pain and destruction than the common human. It's not like spiders are hard to deal with. Their diplomatic philosophy is pretty simple, and one that I hold dear as well: 'Leave me the f**k alone and I'll do the same for you'.
