The Yazidis, a shia sect liviing mainy in Iraq, worship peacocks and believe that lettuce is evil.

Can lettuce really be evil, I accept that spinach is evil, but lettuce - come on!

Cloudbringer 06-10-2003 07:29 AM

BWAHAHAHA! *slurps down more boiled spinach with butter* Nope....I like lettuce on a salad...but peacocks....they have ulterior motives, I tell you! They are out to conquer the produce market!

Davros 06-10-2003 08:06 AM

I happen to like spinach that you very much. Lettuce is more of a filler than a tasty treat. It's like eating something stringy and grassy purely for the sake of the fibre. Not what you would term evil, but hardly pleasurable either .

Charean 06-10-2003 08:18 AM

My bunnies obviously think lettuce is evil - otherwise they wouldn't subdue it so ferociously! :D

DJG 06-10-2003 08:53 AM

Lettuce and Caesar Sauce! Mmmmm! Caesar Salad!

You could add some Croutons and grated Parmesan for extra flavour if you want, but lettuce is niiiiiice! ;)

Attalus 06-10-2003 09:46 AM

You forgot to add freshly grated pepper. This reminds me of the old Greek philosophical sect that held that refraining from eating beans was one of the essentials of a virtuous life.

Spinach isn't evil, Donut, but I can't say the same about asparagus. There's something about them, something not quite...human. I don't trust them one bit.

Lanesra 06-10-2003 10:11 AM

I have evil lettuce, they come from the bank I think.

Ah yes, I did indeed! A nice bit of red and yellow pepper on the salad, including extra slices on the side, and you have a perfect salad!

How can such a thing be evil?

Davros 06-10-2003 10:35 AM

I was just thinking along subtitle lines a few minutes ago, but when I opened this thread to reply again I looked at Lanesra's response.

Lettuce is of course a slang term for money - cash - moola - loot.

And of course, as the old saying goes :

MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL :D .

So lettuce really is evil - justa pity that I won't be able to prove to Donut that I came to this conclusion without being led by the nose by Lanesra ;) .

That's it - I give in - I can't take anymore. You realise I am going to have to shoot you now. Hold on - this isn't really a cheese shop after all - is it?

Mouse 06-10-2003 11:32 AM

Back on topic, as no-one has demonstrated to my satisfaction that lettuce has a conscience, it think it's more likely to be sociopathic than evil.

A few sessions of group therapy and some fairly strong antipsychotic drugs should be all that's needed to turn lettuce into a useful and productive member of vegetable society. Like peas and runner beans for example.

However, this sort of approach will only work for standard lettuce. Lollo rosso, frise and the rest are beyond redemption. They lurk in the salad sections of supermarkets like cheap tarts at closing time round dockland pubs hoping to ensnare the unwary

Avoid these abominations like the plague ;)

Leonis 06-10-2003 11:33 AM

Hmm. Cheese shop. You've lost me there. Perhaps your story has some holes in it? Gouda take some time to figure that one out.

Stormymystic 06-10-2003 04:56 PM

wait...you mean the crisp and dark romain lettuce is evil????

Ladyzekke 06-10-2003 05:27 PM

I think this topic has gone to yall's heads. :D

IAmThumper 06-10-2003 05:56 PM

lettuce isn't evil. Women are evil and I can prove it.

Women require time and money -> women = time * money
Everyone knows time is money -> women = money * money = money^2
Money is the root of all evil -> women = (evil^(1/2))^2
therefore -> women = evil.

Welcome to Ironworks IAmThumper.

Yes you do have to invest time if you want a relationship with any person, whether it be a friend or something more. That's pretty obvious, because without any time invested you have nothing, a relationship IS time.

Not all women require money. Many women, like me, make our own money (maybe even more than our boyfriends/husbands even), you can pump out the bucks all you want, but if you are a bozo you are going to be written off quite quickly no matter how much money you have ;) Not to say there are NO gold diggin women in this world, there are plenty unfortunately, but certainly not the majority, nevertheless "all" to where you could classify all women. ;)

With that said, I feel I should direct this thread back to ON TOPIC.

Umm, dang hard to think of another lettuce pun LOL, scraping the bottom of the barrell now... http://www.wizardrealm.com/smilies/ugh.gif

Blah, this lettuce thread is a tosser!
