try this lil' intellegence test i picked up off the internet:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

Count the F's in the sentence only once. How many do you get?

Raistlin Majere 06-07-2003 02:10 PM

errr...i got three. how does this test intelligence, btw?

DJG 06-07-2003 02:12 PM

Which sentence? ;)

And what does this have to do with intelligence?

Erm... somehow.

andrewas 06-07-2003 02:12 PM

Its more at test of detail. Plus knowing that your brain tends to percieve words like "as" and "or" as symbols in their own right, not letter grouping.

I got them all first time, because I have been caught like this before. If I were not paying attention, I'd only get the 3.

If this is supposed to be an intelligence test, then I guess I'll say 1. The sentence where they ask for the F's doesn't say anything about the sentence above, ergo the question must be about the sentence where they ask for the F's.
I'm probably wrong, though, and the correct number is probably 6.

I found 20 f's, which indicates I am the smartest person ever. Yes, I also came to this conclusion after performing just this single test.

They use variations of this test in medical circles, it generally doesn't mean anything except how observant you are.

err..not smart enough I guess. I only counted 4 out of 6...*lowers head in shame*

shadowhound 06-07-2003 07:07 PM

I got 6

Grojlach 06-08-2003 05:33 AM

When you stumble upon this test for the 34th time or so, it's not that strange that the element of surprise is pretty much gone. No one who has seen this one before will fall into its trap again - or at least I hope they won't. ;)
But the idea was that somehow people sometimes fail to register the f's in "of", and thus end up answering the wrong amount of f's.

dafan 06-08-2003 08:52 AM

6
