Could you people tell me which one of the two styles of drawing you like???

Thanx

Grojlach 06-05-2003 06:44 AM

Let's put it this way: at least the D&D-ones don't make me want to kill cute little puppies. ;)

Indemaijinj 06-05-2003 07:07 AM

What exactly do you define as D&D style.

If we are talking crap airbrush fantasy art a'la Luis Vallejo, then hell no.
If we are talking stuff like Brom or Diterlizzi then it is a whole other matter.

If we are talking the illustration from the 3rd edition books, I think they are neat, but lacks character. Much like present day super hero comics.

Also not all anime and manga is in that über-cute style. You can find some really gritty stuff too.

Both styles are pretty cool if used correctly. But I tend to like anime more - its a bit more expressive IMO.

Drake 06-05-2003 07:18 AM

anime of course. some of the best drawing i have seen.

Lovisa 06-05-2003 07:24 AM

Yuppz anime for me, I usually paint in SD, Super Deform, these cute little guys :D

Spirits forever 06-05-2003 09:02 PM

Am I confused or did you combine the names of Luis Royo and Boris Vallejo on purpose because you feel they are the same?

No, I see my little boo boo now. (I am beginning to remind myself a bit fo my mother <shudders>).

Anyway they have plenty of similarities.

I think most of os will agree that Tony Diterlizzi rules though. He certainly has style.

spydar 06-06-2003 09:29 PM

I luv them both for different reasons.
D&D style cause thats the only way I seem to draw and anime cause I think I"m a closet anime freak.

I'm a huge fan of futuristic anime

Firestormalpha 06-06-2003 10:19 PM

Anime all the way. Yu Yu Hakusho, Rouroni Kenshin, and some of the DBZ stuff. Not too mention the stuff you actually have to hunt for in the US.

Oh yeah, can't forget Cowboy Bepop!! or Pilot Candidate. (Hmm what TV station do watch alot?) Favorite anime so far? Hard to say. It might be Ran: Green Legend, or E.Y.E.S. on Mars, or maybe Iria, perhaps umm what was it called? I think it has something to do with a Ghost train, but I forget. It's been years since I've seen it.

<font color='white'> Anime just looks so...

Goofy. </font>

Luvian 06-07-2003 04:51 AM

Personally, I find anime easier and faster to draw, so I like to use that style while drawing, but I enjoy both style.

philip 06-07-2003 05:24 AM

I don't like anime at all. Most D&D pics are cool though I totally hate some because they're not the way I imagine they should look like (which I'm not going to change)

Sythe 06-09-2003 08:46 PM

2nd editon drawings especially on book covers are the worst. In my opinon anime drawings are much much better. But recently 3rd editon came out much better than the 2nd editon. But still anime rules all like I have said couple of types people in Japan make the best drawings. People in the U.S. make the best movies etc etc.

Thriss 06-09-2003 09:33 PM

Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, Anime, !!!

GokuZool 06-10-2003 02:29 AM

I like both, but prefer manga/anime.

Not all amime is that super-cute-puppy-eyes-girl type, with most anime and manga being very adult in style and context.

Lovisa 06-10-2003 06:06 AM

Doesn't anyone have some pics they can show here? I would do it if I knew how to...I'm not saying I'm really good so I want to show u how it's done but it could be fun
