It is interesting to note that he is in lurker mode in the hope that this topic will drop off page 1 before he returns :D . (No insult meant to any northeners; I'm sure you're all fine people but you're up north and I'm not (Thank God) so )

johnny 06-04-2003 05:40 PM

So he's probably calling you a southern softie then. :D

Kaltia 06-04-2003 05:41 PM

Exactly. But I had to let IW know that Horatio really is from Up North! You mustn't be <s>decieved</s> (I before E except after c....) deceived any longer!

johnny 06-04-2003 05:46 PM

But what's wrong with that ? I like Northeners. Alex Ferguson is a Northener too, and isn't he the most pleasant person imaginable ? :D

Horatio 06-04-2003 05:46 PM

I'm a Londoner, born and bred ;) Let the lies of my origin go no further :D

BTW, there is nothing wrong with being a northener, and I condemn the creation of this thread in every way ;) It was all Kaltia's fault, I tells ya!

Epona 06-04-2003 05:48 PM

I'll keep an eye out for you then Horatio - you should be easy enough to spot in winter when you're running between pubs in a t-shirt ;)

Bardan the Slayer 06-04-2003 08:26 PM

*A northerner stands proud, wearing only a t-shirt despite subzero temperatures ;) *

spydar 06-04-2003 09:01 PM

what exactly is you definition of northerner?? cause I live just north of the 55 th parallel and there's still plenty 'o land above me. course, much of it is permafrost

Sagramore 06-04-2003 09:30 PM

I used to live in Canada (eh?) but now i've moved farther south. just some of my ever so interesting life history for you all.

Subzero temperatures in Newcastle, England?

How about -40 Celsius, throw in a wind chill for about -55 Celsius to -65 Celsius. In the winter you have to listen to the local radio station for weather warnings. The DJ will announce how long it will take before exposed skin freezes. If you shut your car off to get gas, you'll never get it started again so you just leave it running. Salt on the roads? Nope...it just freezes...you have to use sand. When the temp gets up to about -15, then it's T-shirt weather! :D

johnny 06-05-2003 04:55 AM

Eeerm... guys.... it's abouth the northern part of England i'm afraid, so stop showing off. :D

This is a lie! our thermometer does not even have a minus on it, snow does not exist and ice was only invented 5 minutes after the fridge was born

prove I'm wrong :D

North/South divide in Britain...that's what I mean...Horatio's trying to throw us off the trail! He really is from up north! ^^

Vaskez 06-05-2003 09:40 AM

I heard that Horatio was a southern Shandy-drinking boy :D And yeah Animal, stop showing off! I mean we're already so jealous that you get to handle such cold.... whatever will we do, stuck here with our annoyingly-mild winters?

England and parts of Canada are on the same latitude - we just get the gulf stream keeping us warm, luckily

</font>
Try living in Calgary during the winter. One day it is -40 Celsius, throw in a wind chill for about -55 Celsius to -65 Celsius. Then the next day it is +25C thanks to a warm wind coming over the Rockies. +25C is great except for the fact that you go to work prepared for -40C. :D

cormack 06-05-2003 05:56 PM

I personally think "Northerners" will out live "Southerners" by several years :rolleyes: It won't matter what country, the colder the better. It preserves your body you know. Probably not what this thread is about but I've had my say ;)

Beaumanoir 06-05-2003 06:00 PM

Ermmm... YEAAAAA!!! I agree with Cormack! Bloody Southerners....... Pffeh....

Vaskez 06-05-2003 06:47 PM

Yeah sure Cormack, cold preserves your body. It's called Cryogenic storage. But I doubt Northerners like to keep their bodies frozen any more than Southerners.

</font>
Ah yes the good old Chinooks! They are great for thawing everything out during the day, so that you can wake up to an ice rink for a road in the morning. Almost as much fun as spring thaw. :D

LoL! As a Druid I see both worlds objectivly. We have balance in nature thow, the inbalance seems to be mankind. Darn them for hurting the envirnoment!

Northern lights, endless days and or nights.. ;) In the north..
