Did anyone just see his car set on fire while they were putting fuel in?

Imagine pumping 12litres/sec into a fire!!!!

Lucky escape me thinks there!

WillowIX 05-18-2003 08:55 AM

Is that a joke Willow? Whaddaya mean "who's Schumacher"???? LOL

Damn Lavi, his car caught fire during pit-stop and they kept pumping fuel in? Daaaaamn. He is ok though right?

Lavindathar 05-18-2003 09:00 AM

As in Michael Schumacher, Forumula One Racing, you know, 800BHP cars that do 200mph+?

He came into the pit stop, and the attached the fuel rig and started pumping. Then all of a sudden it burst into flames.......And these cars carry a serious amount of petrol! The rigs pump 12litres/sec, and it caught fire. It was put out and no1 was hurt. It was just lucky!

Yeah, not sure how much he knew about it, cos it was just behind his head. He stayed in the car, his stop took 20secs, and he went back out as soon as the flames were put out! But, he didnt get hardly any fuel in............He went in first, and won't win the race now!

And thing is, on Barrichellos stop, they cocked it up as well as the fuel rig got stuck to the car!

Vaskez 05-18-2003 09:06 AM

Hmmm he's got enough wins already anyway :D

Oh I'm sure it airs over here as well. We've got plenty of European channels as well on our satellite. But the key word is racing. Booo-ring!

wellard 05-18-2003 09:16 AM

Was Daemon Hill any where around, with a cigg and a lighter? :D

Oh... and racing boring ? Tell that to Ayrton Senna's familymembers, or Niki Lauda's plastic surgeon. People die during races you know. I wouldn't wanna call that boring. :D

Charlie 05-18-2003 10:38 AM

Well Schuey Snr did win it.

I watched the race, the fire incident was very disturbing. It looked to me like static caught the fuel vapour alight, a frightening proposition when handling fuel etc in those circumstances. I'm sure both the FIA and Ferrari will look into it. It's a testament to just how tightly sealed the fuel delivery nozzle is when removed from the car. What we saw on the nozzle was residual, it would have been catastrophic had the fuel rig still been delivering fuel upon removal.

Testament too to just how cool Schumacher is under "fire". Rest assured he'd have been aware of the flames and then the extinguishers going off. What does he do....goes out and wins the Grand Prix.

Who says Formula 1 is boring? ;)

Yes Johnny there is still a circuit in Montreal Canada. I don't think it's been pulled, hope not, that is one fantastic circuit.

I say it's boring Charlie. ;) Going round and round and round and round etc. etc. And there is a circuit in Quebec (pro. not city) somewhere. I believe it's called Ville-something something.

And johnny, watching people get hurt is not funny. Sure a big hit in hockey or even a fight is fun to watch, but when you see an injury it's no longer funny. ;)
jeez willow, you think watching men wreck their cars and go in circles at 200+ mph is boring????? I love to watch NASCAR here, and although I have no clue about the Europeans style racing, i watch NASCAR every sunday, nothinglike a need for speed to get a thrill, glad the guy made it out ok lavi, we lost the greastest racer here a few years ago, his car malfunctioned during a crash and did not break apart, so all the shock of the impact went into him :( killing him pretty much instantly, he was the king of NASCAR, won almost every race he ran

Vaskez 05-18-2003 01:31 PM

I can't believe you North Americans are referring to Schumacher like "some guy" you've never heard of. "You Europeans over there have your drivers ..blah blah" Schumacher is the most famous driver of any kind of racing in the world. He's a multiple world champion in Formula 1 which is the highest level of racing in the world. It's like the World Cup of football.

These North Americans....so uneducated... ;)

I mean what are you on about "European style racing" Stormy? Formula 1 is world-wide as I said. There are circuits in Europe, Australia, Japan, North America, Malaysia.... haven't you heard of Indianapolis in your own country?

Yeah, can you imagine if the rig was still delivering?

That would be one boom they wouldnt put out so quickly.

There is an angle from behind Schu's head where if you look in his right wingmirror, you can see the flames. So he certainly did!!!!

He kept cool, and F1 is the biggest watched sport in the world, bar none I do believe, and Schu is the king of it.

Sometimes I have this feeling that Americans are living in their very own world and things which aren't happening *there* don't seems to worth paying attention at all... ;)
