the original thread is here:
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=001902&p= ]

the previous thread is here:

Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudbringer 05-16-2003 09:21 AM

PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;) :D

Stratos 05-16-2003 09:21 AM

Ha ha...first post. :D

Good day everyone.

GENERAL REMINDER: Some of you may not have seen this note before so I'm posting for everyone's benefit.

If you want to have instant msg style conversations (posting rapidly back and forth with one or 2 people, making lots of posts per page in a short period of time) please take that to msn/aim/yahoo etc. Ziroc has pointed out that this sort of things is more appropriate to a chat room or instant msg program and he doesn't want to see it in the Cafe.

Thanks!

Now, on to the conversing!

ROTFL! Methinks it's when pastry gets bored, Glorfy! :D :D LOL

It refers to tidal movements- water flows in to the beach/shore and at ebb is pulling away, I believe. Any maritime folks out there can correct my incredibly simple description! :D

Stoping in on my way to bed. Have a wonderfull day everyone!

Dragonshadow 05-16-2003 10:44 AM

So this is where we are? I was at the old Cloudys.... How many have there been?
Anyway, rained over here most of the day, and cloudy... (glares at Cloudy) but bright cloouds (doesn't glare so much)
Aaarrarararagh! De ja vu! I have posted almost the exact same words in a previous cafe! The weather around here is always the same, but I am in Britan.
Anyway, how are you lot? I'm okay, i guess, but the thought of exams in a couple of weeks is worring. I don't do well in tests, and I know that they waren't all that important right now, but still...
I didn't do to good in the ones last year. I think....
No, wait, I do NOT think. me thinking usually results in a building (potentially) blowing up.
I almost burnt down a science lab once (hehehe)
PS Have a nice day Lord K
PPS Can i have another coffee? It's been a bad day. My art is nowhere near finished, and it has to be done in one more lession, byebye spare time.

I'm so happy currently, score a hattrick in a football match just now. Thank goodness it didn't rain. Cloudy must have done something with the clouds. ;) :D

antryg 05-16-2003 02:17 PM

Let me join your noble quest.
Hey Willow! Look Here!

There once was a doctor named Willow.
Who suffocated fellow posters with a pillow.
When asked why she did it.
She pondered and thought a bit,
And said, "have you ever tried to get anything clean to rhyme with willow stick?"

Stormymystic 05-16-2003 02:25 PM

ok cloudy! enough with the humorous weather...we are now going to get hit 3 times by the same storm system, yes it is that huge, and it starts today and ends tomorrow night :( come on how funny can this be?

Cloudbringer 05-16-2003 02:25 PM

I'm so glad it's Friday! Can't wait to finally get home...and clean and plan food for company this weekend...and clean some more.. well, ok, I'm not looking forward to the cleaning part!

Hm, it (the combo - hardly ever see them sold seperately) seems to have a mild antiarthritic effect in mild osteoarthritis, but not as much as Ibuprofen. That's all I've read. Galadria used it for a while when she was having trouble with her knee, training for her last marathon, and it seemed to help, but not as much as the Cos-Con Brace.

Stormymystic 05-16-2003 03:21 PM

Grrrrr, How is everyone doing today?...I think my kids are going to drive me sane, lol they are behaving like monkeys, screeching and climbing on everything If i am not here today just blame cloudy for the storms again, might lose power here

The same here. It seems to have some effect but not the effect many advertisements give it credit for ;) However I believe you can't find it in regular stores in some countries any more. Apparently it has now become a patented drug. Glucosamine's effects have been backed by placebo studies. Some studies have also shown that NSAIDs (Ibuprofen) may hasten the development of arthritis.
Quote:

From an article by L. Lippiello:
This approach aims to increase the natural stress responses of tissues, which may contribute to increased cell survival, retardation of progression of cartilage lesions and possibly regeneration of cartilage matrix.

Attalus 05-16-2003 05:36 PM

I read one of those studies about NSAIDs, Willow, and it struck me that the people on NSAIDS reported more activity than the non-users, so perhaps the NSAIDs were masking the pain, preventing resting when appropriate? And, what the heck is TTD? An expansion pack for Wizards and Warriors?

Night Stalker 05-16-2003 05:47 PM

Att! TTD would be Teasing Timber Day!

Willow seems to think it is in Feb. I coulda sworn it was on days of the year ending in "y" .... but hey I could be wrong! :D

9 months is a short time though .... I better start warming up!

That was my first thought as well but exercise is supposed to prevent arthritis. At least in moderate amounts. The study I read had some anti-cortisone jibberish as well so I'm not sure if I take it too seriously. ;)

TTD is the festive celebration of Teasing Timber Day. I can't wait. But basically every day is Teasing Timber Day. :D

I'm off to see if I can get dinner started. :( Have a great one.

But tell me...it is excellent, isn't it?
