Yorick 06-03-2002 01:47 AM

My pseudo is Yorick, not Yorrick, yet many posters have misspelled the name.

Why is this so?

Now, I don't care whether people misspell the name or not, or shorten it or whatever. What I'm interested in is WHY people see a second R where there is one. ;)

hmmmmmm.

Scholarcs 06-03-2002 01:52 AM

Yorick what you talking about I never ever spelt it with two R's.

Nanobyte 06-03-2002 01:54 AM

Hey Yorick, I'm not really sure why people mispell your name, but I have a feeling it's one of those pronounciation things. Yor-rick. You think?

John D Harris 06-03-2002 02:00 AM

Yorrrick, it's the 3rd one that gets me :D

vesselle 06-03-2002 02:09 AM

ummm..

i got it, hon!

the peeps who do that are into transformation. yknow? they take the second "s" from my name and turn it into an "r" and add it to yours!

:D

V***V

Alas poor Yorrrick, I knew him Horatio - back in the days when he only had one R. A good egg who was fond of a bounce - avoided walls for some reason - used to be a real crack-up - most excellent fellow really. Hold on, those last three words had LL's in them - just like you see in Llama's :D .

WOLFGIR 06-03-2002 03:02 AM

Hehe!

By habit I guess ;) Sounds better to me that way LOL! :D

I have hardly no time to see what I just wrote and er well call it the linking "r" if you would! ;)

Barry the Sprout 06-03-2002 05:01 AM

There are two r's in Barry, so I don't want you to feel left out Yorrick. :D

But honestly, does it bother you that much? Not everyone is going to have read Hamlet. Or even smoked one...

johnny 06-03-2002 06:17 AM

yorrrrick, what the hell are you talking about ?

/)eathKiller 06-03-2002 06:45 AM

Lord Shield 06-03-2002 06:48 AM

No.

Moiraine 06-03-2002 12:08 PM

Yozzrick, can I borrow your thread for a tick ? I had always wondered why people often forget the first "i" in "Moiraine" ... Is it because "oi" is not a natural English sound ?

sorry moiirraiine, won't happen again

Moni 06-03-2002 12:15 PM

Its not that it is not a natural sound, its just that in English, its a different sound...like in boing and groin.

Unless you pronounce it moy-rain it makes sense to spell it without the first i because in English, it looks like it should be mor-ain as opposed to mwa-rain.
I'd be careful in this particular thread! Someone is likely to spell it moro...I won't do it.
