Xero,Didn't ya see the picture on the table?Thier Bhall priest!

Daniel 07-06-2002 09:01 PM

Thats somthing I always wanted to know myself.

TOB SPOILER

a friend of mine thinks they are supposed to be the five (the bhaalspawn from TOB) but there are 7 at the table and they are all male and all human so I doubt that my self.

SecretMaster 07-06-2002 10:18 PM

I thought they were candlekeep people. Don't ask.

Xero279 07-06-2002 10:36 PM

hmm i thought they were some kind of gods or something... lol i guess no1 knows and everyone just thinks something different

SixOfSpades 07-07-2002 05:46 PM

I believe they were meant to be Priests of Bhaal, working toward his resurrection. BioWare may have meant to work them into ToB, but apparently didn't get around to it. Someone should write a MOD that includes them.

Lmao that was always one of my theories, but i felt to embarrased posting it(people always thought my theory to far fetched), It just seemed so right at the time long ago back before TOB was released and also I can swear one of them uses Tethtoril's voice (the monk in red robes)

Im glad to see im not the only one lol

Willard 07-07-2002 10:02 PM

What are those monsters that attack Irenicus? They look like you do when you turn into a slayer. Also, how come Irenicus couldn't use his magic?

Xero279 07-07-2002 10:07 PM

those are just demons, they arent supposed to look like the slayer. Remember, Irenicus tryed to use his magic, but he was drained of energy. he heard the demons behind him, spun around, tryed to cast something, then realized he was out. same thing happened when he trys to teleport out of hell when he almost dies, he cant

Hayashi 07-07-2002 10:08 PM

Well, I suppose that's the verison of purgatory that he ends up in after you've defeated him. After all, he's dead, isn't he?

Ctenas 07-07-2002 10:10 PM

Maybe they are dead Bhalspawn. I guess in hell your powers willŽnot work if they are not hellish in nature. My doubt is: shouldnŽt Irenicus cease existing after you killed him in hell?

Xero279 07-07-2002 10:12 PM

who knows if we kill him in hell or not. it might end and go to that cutseen when he was one hp left or something, then he passes out and wake up later.

I always thought they were worshippers of Cyric, seeking to prevent Bhaals return.

Madman-Rogovich 07-08-2002 11:09 AM

i thinks the mystery of it makes it extra cool

This thread is touching a lot of MOD-worthy points. I can't actually write a MOD myself (due to the fact that I have only a Pentium 1, 100megahertz at home, 1.2 G hard drive, no Internet), but I'm designing one anyway. In it, you DO meet the 7, and it's a VERY tough fight--they're all powerful spellcasters, and 2 are immune to Time Stop. And who tips you off as to where the secret headquarters can be found? Why, a powerful Priest of Cyric (who might perhaps be Cyric himself, in disguise), who wants to throw a roadblock in the path of Bhall's resurrection--and what better way than to pit Bhallspawn against Bhallspawn, and kill the very people who know how to bring the god back?

masteraleph 07-08-2002 09:28 PM

IIRC there was something about this on the BIS forums a while back. It seems that that the Five idea from TOB was what they had in mind. However, it suddenly occurred to someone when TOB was being made that not all Bhaalspawn have to be a playable race (i.e., Human elf dwarf half-elf gnome halfling or half-orc)

I think they are supposed to be slayers, they look like them make the same insectile sounds and they are a what more a fitting creature to meet you doom at in bhaal's hellish pocket plane than his own avatar

Wilbur 07-08-2002 10:20 PM

you guys said something about sendai... does that have anything to do with the character sendai of amn from BG 1 or is it just a recycled name?

Willard 07-09-2002 04:55 PM

No, they could not be Pit Fiends because Pit Fiends are around 25 feet tall. The ones in the cutscene were the same size as Irenicus.

Xero279 07-09-2002 06:07 PM

ya, plus pit fiends have like 4 or 6 arms (i cant remember which), then 2 legs. those things walked on 4 legs

Sendai is in ToB</font>[/QUOTE]ya, he knows sendai is in ToB, he was asking if the Sendai in Throne of Bhaal has to do with the person called Sendai of Amn in baldurs gate 1.

Nope it's a different sendai

SixOfSpades 07-09-2002 10:57 PM

For Internet access, I go to the library (fast connection, no floppy-drive access) and my Mom's (the reverse). My good computer was much better than my current one.

As for the Sendai thing, a lot of names were recycled from BG1 into BG2; One theory I've heard for this is that while BG was being developed, there were message boards full of ideas for the project, and frequent contributors were rewarded by being allowed to design minor characters, frequently using the same names that the contributors used as screen-names. Khalid El Haitami (or whatever his name is), the guy who throws his might Scimitar at your head, is supposed to be one of these.
Names that I can think of offhand that show up twice:
Sendai: In BG1, an arrogant Amnish b----. In ToB, a whiny Drow b----.
Bodhi: In BG1, one of the (wrong) passwords into the Thieves Guild is "Bodi." In BG2, well, you know.
Hareishan: In BG1, a Mage working for Davaeorn. In BG2, a Vampire working for Bodhi.
Brennan Risling: In BG1, a citizen of BG city who likes to talk about ships. In BG2, a cowardly Thief.
Jon Irenicus: In BG1, a horridly obese woman named Centeol says she was cursed by "the archmage, Jon Icarus."

Oops...I havent seen the cutscene or played BG II in a while...I thought pit fiends were something else...

ecob16 07-11-2002 06:31 AM

one of my friends who completed it said they were cowled wizards who all along had worshipped bhaal, does that make sense?

Illumina Drathiran'ar 07-11-2002 09:14 PM

I always assumed the creatures that attacked Irenicus were demonic kobolds.. They have the tails, they're about the right size, and they travel in hordes.

No, kobolds are pretty small, smaller than humans and those were the size of irenicus
