<font color=blue> Ok, after all this time, I have got the whole ubb deal down. But now I want to do some colors. </font> You know, cheer up a post, or show my complete and udder anger at some fellow loud mouth with brite red, you know, the fun stuff. j/k :D :D
I tried some HTML codes I found on some site, but the directions were real vague, and therefore did'nt work for me. ;)
Is there a comprehensive easy to understand and read list of the basic codes for a dummy like me? ;)
Thanks

Colors eh? <font color=orange>Like this?</font>
<font color=gold>Or this?</font>

Pretty easy...

put this in: (font color=nameofcolor) insert text here (/font)

just replace the ( with < and ) with >

Just ask if you don't get it

Try here first of all. I think it's basic enough that you'd understand what's being said. For a wider range of colors, you'll need either the HEX or RGB combinations. The HEX codes go in the same place Sir G mentioned, the RGB codes are for software programs that use RGB coding.

This site lists all the HEX and RGB codes for nearly all the colors on the spectrum. Enjoi!

<span style="color: lightblue;">Ok, my Standards speach...

Marquee tags are depricated. Better not to use them; if you want scrolly text, go for an animated gif.

Font tags are depricated, there is another way to change the textcolour that is supported by more browsers. That is:
<span style="color: white;">&lt;span style="color: <span style="color: red;">colorname;">

As far as forums are concerned, it`s probably better to leave your formatting at different colours, and <span style="font-weight: bold;">bold or <span style="text-decoration: underline;">underline for emphasis. I can teach you how to change the size of the text properly, but I won`t.

<span style="font-weight: bolder;">Important: choose colours that are readable on your background. For example, do not use dark brown/blue, red, or black here... it can be very annoying to try to read.

Depricated = won`t be in later versions of HTML, you should get used to not using them, so that when they aren`t useful anymore, it won`t affect you. ;)
And choose colours that we can read !!

<font color=steelblue>Got it, thank you. :D </font>

/)eathKiller 03-27-2003 10:41 PM

another trick to that is to use hexadecimal representation of colors, lie E33FFG for <font color="E33FFG"> semi-kinda'-light violet </font>

Gnarf 03-28-2003 07:44 AM

So... you're trying to say that putting "color=semi-kinda'-light violet" in the font-tag-tiggy-thang-thingy won't work?

<font size=1>i like the font size thing becuase you can use really tiny text and no-one can hear you so you can get away with anything *spam*</font>

Gnarf 03-28-2003 03:29 PM

That's right, right indeed. No one can hear you when you use tiny text... just as with any other text
