I know it may seem hard for us to be happy in these time of troubles, but I think that it's exactly what we need atm.
'Cause if there is something we can all agree about it's that a moment of hapiness is a moment of hapiness. So please, if something made you happy recently, share it with us and post a little something here. For my part, it may be silly, but the sun is back over here and that cheers up my life a little. For those who remember, we had snow in the first Joy Thread. Thank you for coming Mr Spring. |
Same here re the weather. We've had an extra cold winter with a LOT of snow. It's been very springlike the past few days, it's great. There is really nothing that can compare to those first days of warm spring weather

I've gotten to see my brother once again and spend the day with him because I don't see him to often. He's still here.

This should make people smile!
http://pictures.funnyjunk.com/pages/grin.jpg
SMILING is infectious, You catch it like the flu. When someone SMILED at me today, I started SMILING too! I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin When he SMILED, I realized I'd passed it on to him. I thought about that smile, then realized its worth, A single SMILE just like mine could travel 'round the earth. So if you feel a SMILE begin, don't leave it undetected.
[ 03-24-2003, 08:34 PM: Message edited by: Sir Goulum ] |

Well, I'm happy because I just lead Glasglow Rangers to win Champions League Cup in my second season as a manager in Championship Manager game. :D

Good idea Masklinn! I agree that this is actually the best time for such a thread, we all need some cheering up I think!
The best thing I have to add to this thread is that the weather over here is just glorious for the time of the year!! Just amazing; warm, sunny, bright. You cannot help but feel better. Sunday I just stood on the balcony for a quarter of an hour, eyes closed, basking in the sun. Better than any therapist I tell you! :D In other happy news, I went to the Royal Library in the Hague yesterday, together with my boyfriend, and found some critical analyses about Mozart's Die Zauberflöte that may help me writing an essay on that opera. It's the first essay I am writing after two years of illness preventing me from doing a study. I'm really over-perfectionistic and therefore progressing at snail's speed, but nevertheless I'm really happy that I'm starting to get things back on track. Lastly, I noticed Sir Tainly added his pics of "The Collective" to Stealthy's Site at last (thanks Simon! ), and that brought back many great memories of our stay with the most hospitable gnome family in France. I got the results back from an MRI yesterday, and I only have 1 new leason in my head! :D :D
I hav'nt really talked about this on IW, but so you know, I have Multaple Sclerosis. I was DXed on 1-24-02. I of course had an MRI at that time, and had my yearly check up a couple weeks ago. I'm not going to go into all the details, but trust me, 1 new leason in a years time, is good. Lord Kathen, I am so sorry to hear that. That is a terrible thing :(
Hope you are doing well under the circumstances and I wish you all the best! I don't know exactly the significance of the one leason but I gather it's good news, so I am glad for you Fred, that was one of your finest moments to be sure. But I also loved it when Luc was cutting the meat for our supper, and someone (was it Hugh?) teased him about something. Your "use the forks Luc, use the forks!" was absolutely brilliant and very ad rem. |
Masklinn, great return of a great idea !
LordKathen, I am bot so sorry and glad for you - I hope doctors will find a cure for your disease. *HUGS* Donut - bah ! Next time, I'll play with English dice, hope they won't betray me like my own French ones ... ;) About my own contribution - my husband has been myop (sp ?) since he was 6, and yesterday he got his second eye fixed (first one two weeks ago) - so today is the first day in 32 years that he can see the world without glasses. LordKathen,
I m really sorry to hear what is happening to you. I don't know much about this disease but if you say that only one leason in one year is a good news then I'm really happy for you. But I sincerly wish from all my heart that your next check-up will show no new leason at all. |
Guys, guys...Thank you very much for the comments. I am very early in the progresion of MS. I am really OK. I am a cab driver of all things! ;)
Just wanted to share a happy time for me. Lets get back to happy things. ;) Maybe someday, I will share my story with all of you, but for now, everything is great here. :D |

The thing that's made me happiest recently is the fact that yesterday, I got to be very close to someone whom I care immensely about for the first time in aaaages. Joy!
And reading the other replies on the thread has really cheered me up too. Thank you, Masklinn! A great idea if ever I saw one |
The sun is shining, I had a fantastic haircut this morning, then sat in the sun drinking coffee.
|

and yay for you Lord Kathen. erm...whats Multiple Sclerosis? i'm sure i've been told before but i just can't remmember. now for my good news. I finally have a Girlfriend (yay). i'm really happy right now even though i've managed to get labarynthitus and a cold AND a soar throat meaning i'm throwing up every day. yuck. also 2 of my friends both got Gf as well, so i'm happy for them (well one of them denies there going out with them but we all know they are (friends my arse)) :D . |
Kathen, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's wonderful that you can put a positive spin on it though, good for you! Hopefully next time no new lesions hey?
It's beautiful weather, I have gorgeous shoes, my kitten's asleep in my lap, and my supervisor says my thesis is going great! |
Oh....tonight I found that and that made me very very happy.
Don't ask, enjoy. Yeah I know I'm a weird guy :D |
Two joyous things today...
First, one of my heavy travel months is over. I've been in five states over the past month, experienced some of my most challenging flights ever... and now I get to be home for a while. There's a lot to be said for sleeping in your own bed without having to pack up in the morning! And second, when I got home tonight, the kids were both in bed but not quite asleep yet. Great big hugs and kisses were my reward when I checked on them, and it really warmed my heart to see them again. They're young (3 and almost 6), and I know I won't be their favorite person forever, but I certainly am enjoying it while it lasts! |
(This would be my cue to show off?)
I am happy because I have been doing really well at school over the past year. Not to say that I've never done well at school previously, but last year was my eleventh year at school, so we had our first batch of big exams. Just to be a show off, here're my results from last year The grading system is pretty basic: A (Achieved) as a percentage is 50 to 70%. M (Merit) is 70 to 90%. E (Excellence) is 90 to 100%. NA (Not achieved) is less than 50%, but I got none of those :D The letters can be quite confusing, because many people automatically think that A is the highest mark. Anyway, if you can decipher my horrid explanation, here're my results: Biology - Genetic information = M Human systems = A Micro-organisms = A Economics - Choice and Demand = M Producers, resources = A Supply = E Market = E Sectors of economy = M Decision-making = E Eco Investigation = M English - Creative writing = E Formal writing = M Extended texts (novels etc) = M Short texts = A Visual texts = M Unfamiliar texts = M Speech = M Presentation = M Research = M History - Historical Investigation = M Communication historical ideas = A Interpret hist. sources = M Perspectives of people in hist. setting = M NZ Identity = A Computers - Composition = M File Management = E Process different media = A Decision making = A Spreedsheets = A Communicate information = M Maths - Algebra = M Linear, Quadratic graphs = M Measurement = A Geometry = E Number = A Geometric reasoning =M Statistics = M Probability = E Science - Chemistry = A Physics = M |
Bungleau, your last sentence is very cute ;)
Pcgiant, congratulations for your brilliant results :D *cheer* |
I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the girl I "broke" up with last week, very nice to hear her again, we are just going to be friends and she asked if we could maybe visit each other in the future... I told her we shouldn't make any plans...
But I feel so much better after talking to her, even if I know it's over... weird? |
Not weird Joran. You needed to talk to her for the relationship to be over for you.
I'm glad you feel better. ;) [ 03-26-2003, 02:51 PM: Message edited by: Masklinn ] |

You don't know him yet, Masklinn, he is a very nice German guy. Hope he comes back on IW as well ! |
Well, last Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, Barry the Sprout and Epona. I must say that they are 3 of the finest individuals I've ever drank a whole bunch of beer with :D Right on! Pics will be uploaded to Stealthies as soon as I get home to my scanner (Charlie, how about uploading your pics my good man? ).
I've been having a wonderful vacation in Europe so far! England is amazing! London is a wonderful city and the surrounding countryside is simply gorgeous. I also went to Rome for 4 days and had a blast! I've been studying classical studies for 4 years and to finally see all the ancient Roman monuments with my own eyes really took my breath away! Marvelous, simply bloody brilliant! On to Paris on Tuesday! YEAH! :D (ps: sorry Mel, doesn't look like Holland is going to happen this time around. But not to worry, I'll be back soon enough. I've got EURO FEVER baby! :D ). I'll be in LA in a weeks time, where I'll get to see an old friend for the first time in a good while! More reason to celebrate! YESSSSSS! LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!!!!! |
