It's that time of the Month, but THIS Month is BAD guys. :(
Our Car's battery light is on as well as the Air isn't working (In Florida, that is BAD) Anyway, We are VERY broke. (In the red infact) We have to pay the Tax on the House, and as our GREAT luck would have it, the car is about to break down, and the air is out. ugh. It seems we can't get a break. Living paycheck to paycheck is very depressing. I know many of you are dealing with this too. :( We need to raise some serious money, and soon. I'm even thinking of putting up some of my most prized baseball cards on eBay, but I don't think they will sell well or at all. It's that bad. If you could help out, please click here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/noncgi/donate.shtml And if you have paypal, you can make an instant donation or at the bottom of that page, you will see my home address. This is very seriously bad. In a week or so, we'll have the bills for the Ironworks internet conenction, and at this moment, we can't even pay that (or a few other bills). For those that can't donate, I UNDERSTAND, and still love ya! too! We just gotta raise some money, and fast as possible, or we are very screwed. God.. I WISH TO GOD Microsoft would have kept their agreement. sigh. :( Thanks guys, Dan |
Okay, Z, I sent some via PayPal. Hope it helps. I've never heard of Mircrosoft ever treating anybody right on any deal, BTW. :(

All this and now the war going on, geez man, it's all depressing. :( Thanks for helping Timber, every bit will help! [ 03-24-2003, 09:58 AM: Message edited by: Ziroc ] |
Z, I am also currently of the paycheck to paycheck school of life. I would be better off assisting you in fixing your car, thus saving some cash there. Interested in some tips on that, or are you only (only, hah!) a computer genius, leaving the auto work to others?
|
Aw god...fine time to spend all my money! Sorry, Z...If I had any dough, I'd send ya some! :( Hope you get it all fixed!
|
ACK! You know I was supposed to start a substitute teaching job 2 weeks ago but since Spring Break started and my best male friend from my childhood days ended up in Kuwait/Iraq, I haven't been getting more than an hour or two sleep every night and that only comes with exhaustion...now that spring break is over, my roomie will be sleeping days again (hopefully) and I...with help from God above...will be able to resume a normal sleeping pattern without worry or snoring keeping me awake.
Bottom line...the job will pay 50.00 a day and I'll be happy to contribute some of that to IW's cause...I know you work really hard to keep this place alive. I doubt I can be of any immediate help though and the summer months will be payless ones for me...I have few living expenses with the exception of needing to buy a new cord for the dishwasher RIGHT NOW and replacing the outside flood lights that blew out when the cord that is on it now caught fire 2 nights ago! |
Ah man, I'm really sorry to hear that Ziroc. If I had any money, I'd send it to you but I'm pretty much in the hole myself, plus I don't even have a credit card to send by Hmmm but... my mom might have a usable credit card, she gets them in the mail nearly every week. I'll check with her and see if I can get her to cough some up, a son's influence :D
But I don't get it, what happened with Microsoft? [ 03-25-2003, 04:23 AM: Message edited by: Gangrell ] |

Anyway, I'm really sorry to hear this, Z, and I would like to help out, but I really don't have any spare money right now. :( Best wishes for a better future. :( |
until my TV series goes into production i'm broke too, I'll be sure to donate to you when the availability is given to me, at this moment though I'm as bad off as Sir G. all I can offer you is my thoughts and prayres to aid your economic situation. Good luck, I hope enough people find the time in their hearts to keep this great establishment running, and fix your car
|
I'll have a check in the mail Thursday.
|
Sorry man, but I dont think my parents will approve of me sending any money to someone I hardly know over the internet. :(
But didnt MS give you some money despite the deal falling through? |
PayPal $$'s inbound. Good luck Dan!

Anyway, what MS sent us paid off many many bills (most were medical bills for me, and some that my mom had, that insurance wouldn't pay). It went quick. :( |
I should be able to send a check this friday, Z. Lady Aberdene is the boss around here ;) , and thats what she says. I have wanted to donate to your hard work since I joined a while back, but with 3 kids, its hard to come up with any extra money at all. Anyway, soon my brother. As of Thrusday, we haven't received but 2 donations. :( Out of 11,000 members, this worries me deeply. I hope we raise enough soon, or we'll be down. UGH.. [ 03-27-2003, 08:34 AM: Message edited by: Ziroc ] |
How are things going now ? Are you gonna make it ?
|
Ziroc man, i am SO sorry.
I am also sorry that I kind of can't donate anything, bt I hope you raise the money. I supporting you. Dragonshadow the Very Sorry |
Sorry if this angers anyone, but it must be said. And, I'm sorry if I offend you, Z, by trying to be a flag-bearer here.
IWF cannot be cheap to run. I do not know the figures, but this site requires funding, not to mention all of the work Z does for free. Z, if you haven't, you should post this donations request on every forum. We need to get serious and dig deep guys. I'm not saying you should give what you can't. That's obviously not the case. There's no need to apologize to fellow forum members for lacking money, and things are tight all over these days. But, it's not just this month. Next month we'll face the same issues. If some donations do not start coming in to at least meet the site costs, we are all simply going to lose our favorite forum. :( Well, at least it's my favorite. Just a little bit from lots of people would help a lot, I'm sure. Many hands make light work. Best of luck, Z. |

TL, I agree. I donated in the past, when I could, but it's tight right now. I run the checkbook, I pay the bills. My wife almost strangled me last time I did, but I am currently refinancing the house, so I will have a better nest egg to use very soon. I don't HAVE to tell the wife that I send money, to avoid, er, "repurcussions," but I'd also prefer not lying about it Z, where are we?
|
I would donate but I cant.I am only 15 years old and my father has a credit card but he won˛t let me do it. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
Sorry..I REALLY LOVE THIS FORUM |
I should be able to make a donation on monday, after my pay check is deposited in my bank account. I hope it won't be too late by then.
|
I did what I could and sent what I had, Z. I'm a little strapped for $$ at the moment, but hopefully more will be rolling in soon. Let me put up my online store first. ^_^
|
Tried to donate through paypal, but my bank is playing silly buggers. Dunno why, Im well under the limit. Possibly. Anyway, Ill see what I can do on monday, banks closed over here.
|

|
Just sent a little via PayPal Z. Sorry could'nt be more. If we all can send a little, It will add up. :D Good luck Z

I saw a cool additive on a website once...can't rememeber which, but it may have been a link about a Lord of the Rings fan site...but it was a community cash counter...it showed how much money the community had donated, and therefore everyone knew how well or bad the site was doing. Of course, it would be just like a checking account or something. We could all see that there was $500 at the moment, then the next day see that it was down to $450...so we would all know that the webmaster had made a $50 withdrawl for the benefit of the account. If it were to ever drop below a certain point...we would all know without being told that money needs to start coming in fast. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen any website do, and wrote the webmaster an e-mail about how much I liked his thoughtfulness for his community. The only sad thing is that I doubt the software we have would compensate for such an idea to exist. Hopefully haks are easy to make...
What do you think? Benefical or not? The main point is...would it be effective or a waste of time? |
Larry, I think that sounds like it might be a good way for everyone to 'visualize' the donations at any given point. It certainly sounds like it'd be worth a try if it could work on the forum. :D
|
Sounds like a great idea. He could have his goal to reach every month right there for us able to donate to see. No obligation of course. ;) Sounds great to me. :D
|
If you check the frontpage of IWF guys, he is 10 DAYS away from closing the site down. :( :( :( I will be very sad indeed.
|
Im going to try and get a job as soon as possible and when i do, Ironworks will be the first thing my cold hard cash goes toward.
Long Live IronWorks!!! |
Dan, I have suggested before that we set up a subscription of, say, $5 a month for those willing and able. Is there no way we can put something like that in place?
|
Hey. Just read it. The paypal has been paid. You'll see the amount. It's under my mundane name.
|
Oh, what is the monthly lick, anyway?
|
::wiles away the afternoon posting at various places about Ironworks::
Ziroc, can you give your loyal fans a ballpark figure of monthly costs to keep Ironworks open, or how much you need before canning IW in the 10 days Timber Loftis quoted? The hearts (and the wallets) are open and willing to donate necessary upkeep money. |
Quote:
It is not an exorbitant amount that Dan needs but it is expensive. It would not take that many people committing to a modest amount each month to take care of it. |
