I have a GeForce, Ti200. The fan has died. It no longer spins right. I cannot get a replacement at a PC store, because the fan is specialized.

Any suggestions? Do I have to mail it in to the company to replace the part?

Depends how old it is. Any decent computer shop should stock both replacement and aftermarket fans for video cards. I believe Thermaltake makes replacement fans for most Geforce 3 and 4 serious cards.

I use the other brand. Sorry for ya.

Are you sure it is dead? Does it have a seperate wire lead? Have you checked power to the fan? Is it clogged with dust bunnies? Dog hair?
Does it need to be plugged in and running?
What is your case ambient temp? Check your temp both before and after say playing a 3d game for 20 minutes.

That brand is not my specialty, but I don't think it's a huge heat creator, nor that it really needs a fan.

You only mention Ti200, how old is it? How much memory? What type of memory?

Well if you can't get replacement just take the tower cover off. That's what my uncle did when his fan stopped working and his works better then mine! Hope this helps.

Larry often the fans are nto specialist computer components, just off-the shelf parts from electrical manufacturers. You should be able to find a suitable replacement at Radioshack or similar.

Aye, Thermaltake makes very good aftermarket GPU fans. Also make sure that you get a tube of Artic Silver 3 (or Coolermaster if you cant get Artic Silver) and apply a healthy dose to the surface of the fan that connects to the chip, before you install it. It will help to better cool the fans as it provides a better adhesion between fan and GPU, resulting in better cooling. Good stuff.

You also might want to clean the F/HS and apply a new layer between the F/HS and CPU while youre doing your video card.

Repeat this maintenance at least once every three months.

Well, the video card is not "made" by GeForce, or NVidia...all they do is develop the drivers and technology, then have other hardware manufacturers crate the actual card. They lisence out to a few different name brands. One is PNY, on is something else,,,mine is by Visiontech...and they use the name Xtasy on their box. Cool name :D

Anyway...I have to buy the fan because the actual fan came out of its spinning component. It is not spinning anymore...just hanging there. I have taken my card to two different computer specialist stores (Intrex and Computer & software Outlet), and neither have a fan that fits. The fan sits in a base that is mounted to the card. The base does not need to be removed to remove the fan, but the fan snaps in place by an internal component. It is specialized so that I have to have the right fane that is made to fit into the cradle.

My problem is that I cannot ind a Customer Service number for Visiontech.

Unfortunately Visontek has stopped producing nVidia based cards and is no concentrating solely on ATI. That's bad news for you, I'm afraid. You could try 1-800-434-1014, since the company claims to have an inventory of parts available for their older boards, and they state that they will still honour warranties.
I'm surprised that you're having such a tough time finding a replacement since Visiontek boards are based on the nVidia reference design. Try http://www.thermaltake.com/products/chipset/vgaoem.htm they list quite a few OEM and high performance cooling fans for most video cards.

Check this out! I called them and told them about what went wrong, and mentioned that I do not have proof of purchase to prove it is under warrenty. They are still mailing me a free fan ! Yee--hoo!
