Sazerac 02-02-2003 09:15 PM

Hello my friends, and apologies for my long absence.

Last you probably heard from me, my electrolytes had suddenly gone way out of balance and I was suffering from anemia. The doctor was able to correct for that with some supplements and a dietary change. Just about the time I was getting over that, I came down with a severe case of "walking pneumonia" (Mycoplasma pneumoniae) which laid me flat for the past two weeks. I had to miss over a week of work, which, when you are a teacher, is terrible because it's not like anyone else can do what you do. So all I could do was set my alarm for a certain time in the morning, roll over, and call my work and croak some instructions to my co-workers who were desperately trying to sub for me while attending to their own classes, then turn back over and try to think about something other than killing myself to stop the coughing and the pain.

So, for me, the whole month of January 2003 has basically sucked swamp water. :( I just pray that February has a change for the better.

I realize I have been remiss during this period of moderating in the other forums. I want to thank my fellow mods for filling in for me during my absence. It's going to take some time catching up on things, but I should be around here more often in the near future (slowly at first, of course...I'm still pretty weak.)

Anyway, I hope everyone's year so far has gone a lot better than mine has. Blessings to you all, and I've missed you!

Hugs,

Paris Soulier (Sazerac)

Sorry to hear that mate, my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Don't push yourself with the mod stuff, it's only mod stuff at the end of the day. Look after yourself.

Arledrian 02-02-2003 09:40 PM

Sazerac, that's absolutely terrible! Good job on getting over your illnesses, I'm so glad you're feeling a little better these days. I hope you can somehow manage to catch up on the things you've been missing, and get back into your daily routine as soon as possible. It's so good to see you back on here, I hope we'll be seeing more of your posts in the near future. Take it easy, and rest up as much as you need to while you're still recuperating!

All the best,

Alex

Ladyzekke 02-02-2003 10:02 PM

Paris, you have been, and still are, in my thoughts and prayers, I've been worrying out about you for weeks now! :( I wish you a speedy recovery, and I agree, for you January has been a bastaid! Let's see, I think Wenzek can cast a Chant, so a Good February Chant I send to you! Take care of yourself, don't try to push it and do too much too soon, we all will be here when you are back to Top Barbarian status ;)

Cloudbringer 02-02-2003 10:25 PM

Lots of good wishes and prayers for your improved health, my dear friend! You must take care of yourself and not worry so much about other things- you can't get well if you worry so much! *BIG HUGS* You take it easy and concentrate your efforts on getting well.

I'd take the chant from Wenzek too. I bet it's pretty strong, she's a tough cookie, that one! :D

The Hierophant 02-02-2003 10:46 PM

Oh man, Saz, I'm sorry to hear all of this.
I hope now that you're back on your feet that you stay that way. Take it easy until you get your strength back. We'll all be thinking of you. Soldier on!

I´m sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. Rest assured you are in our thoughts and prays. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I must say I think your recovery is more importonat, much more important, than your work. Rest and relax Saz. You are missed in here.

Sazzie... <font color="deeppink", size=5>*HUG*

Concentrate on getting better dear, don't worry about the mod job. I just know everybody understands you're not feeling completely up to it now. Relax, cuddle Winston and Dinali (how are they doing? ) and take good care of yourself my friend. You have been and will be in my thoughts.

You mean that the moderater's are actual people!

Sorry... but you know what they say... laughter is the best healer...

Illness can be a real bitch... my Mum's just come down with dengue fever (however you spell it) and she is totally feeling like crap... but hey... it can't get much worse can it... (although that probably doesn't help much)

What I'm trying to say is... major bummer... get well soon... don't let it get you even further down...

Attalus 02-03-2003 09:31 AM

Paris, I have been worried about you as well, imagining all sorts of things. I'm glad you are better, now. Get plenty of rest, and try not to worry. I find that takes more out of patients than anything.

So now the truth finally comes out....no matter what the women say - SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER!!!

Sazerac - I will continue to hold you in my thoughts and prayers my friend. I pray that your recovery from here on out will be a quick one. Rest and recover your strength.

And don't worry about your work - it will be waiting on you when you get back. :D
Ooops.....sorry, I guess that isn't really a "cheer-me-up" thought, is it?

Seriously, though - take care of yourself first, Saz - Everything else will fall into place. God speed on your recovery.

Timber Loftis 02-03-2003 02:52 PM

Smelling blood, Cerek, the lesser-endowed of the IWF Barbarian-chiefs, attacks the bed-ridden Sazerak whole-force, even using the cheesy-of-cheese dialog-talk-attack tactics. What is this world coming to.

SomeGuy 02-03-2003 05:40 PM

Ah man that's horrible.I hope Febuary is better for you. Will be here fo you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Gammit 02-03-2003 05:50 PM

ACK! I dont know how the heck I missed this thread, but I'm sorry Saz!

Hopefully this month will be a better one for you! :D Good luck buddy!

Take care of yourself!

Sazerac 02-04-2003 11:08 AM

Thank you guys, all so very much! You're the greatest. I mean that.

I'm getting better, although today I woke up so nauseated I almost called in sick again. It's either the aftermath of the medicine they gave me or possibly the drainage...either one is rather disgusting to think about. A

Anyway, I don't want to bore anyone talking about my health. I'm going to start sounding like an old person, pfeh!

Today is a nice slow day at work at least. All I'm doing is giving quizzes and the students have lab work in their other classes. Other than my Web Design class this afternoon in which I'm teaching Cascading Style Sheets, I don't have that much to do so I can get caught up on other things. I may meander into the Cafe a little later and see what's going on.

Have fun, guys, and thanks once again for helping cheer me up!
Ssssss. You people...how many times do I have to tell you. I'm not a barbarian. I am a berserker. It's quite a different matter altogether! ;)

Cerek, size may matter, but I can never match you on your delightful colored text, my friend! And you're still Ironworks' token Barbarian! :D

Your prayers are well-received, my friend. I know they help, and I thank you kindly.

Hugs,
Paris (Saz)

Kaltia 02-04-2003 12:28 PM

Uh...we can have two barbarians! Belive me, we're drowning in paladins WHY are they so popular anyway...?
Glad to see you're getting better, Saz! Fingers crossed for a full recovery by next week *hugs*

I'm just relieved to hear you are feeling better, Saz! I've had a little experience with anemia myself (although not nearly as severe as your case). I remember feeling completely exhausted all the time. Climbing out of bed in the morning took a Herculean Effort - as did actually staying awake at work. From the time I got up, all I could think about was when I would get to lay back down. It was miserable.

It's good to see you getting your strength back - that's always a positive sign. I hope you will soon be back with us on a regular basis.

AFA still being Ironwork's "token" Barbarian - I appreciate the sentiment...but Conan might have something to say about that. ;)

Continue to get well, Paris. We are ALL looking forward to your full recovery.
