I was just wondering what sort of cars you guys drive and who is into sports cars and/or modifying cars? Cars, or in particular imported Japanese cars is an interest of mine and I was wondering who else may share this?
Please feel free to post general issues about cars aswell, as I have seen very little on here about cars (yes i know it is a fantasy forum, but oh well ).

Oh and btw, by being into sports cars and modifying cars does not mean I endorse speeding and dangerous driving, so no flaming please! ;)

LordKathen 01-31-2003 11:54 AM

This is my old rig. I miss him very much. Had to sell him a while back to help with bills.

I drive a 1995 Hyundai Sonata (white). Nobody has ever heard of it, so here are some pictures (mine looks exactly the same). She's called 'the Mystery Machine' (from Scooby Doo) ;)

EDIT: The only modifying I've done to the car is a little tuning and adding an anti-socially loud stereo system.

Nice Jeep man! I'm not one for big cars but I like it, a pity you had to sell it. :(

LordKathen 01-31-2003 12:21 PM

This is what I drive now. 1983 GMC Sierra Classic S-15, 5-speed, 2.8 liter V6
4x4 on the fly. Runs great. Have yet to open him up in the mountains. Soon though.

Thats one of my gibbies, Blaine.

Ya, thanks man. O-well, priorities and all...

realbinky 01-31-2003 12:30 PM

TL, are you a commie? Buying all that japscrap

I have one each from each of the "big three"
A Dodge Neon R/T soon to be replaced with a Neon SRT
A Ford Ranger STX Pickup
A Olds Silhouette Minivan/Family-mobile

Oh and 2 Motorcycles

Thoran 01-31-2003 12:37 PM

For Winter I've got a '00 Legacy GT Limited, fun in the snow but no power. I'm thinking the new 2.5L Turbo that Subaru has might be a good future mod. to get the car to the point where it can at least get out of it's own way.

For Summer I've got a moderately modified 96 Z28 (bought it new and ran it as a summer daily driver until recently), last dyno run was 350rwhp with no power adders, 468rwhp with a 150 shot.

I've also got a 69 Mustang Mach1 project car, 351W (very long term project)

Mouse 01-31-2003 02:15 PM

A true classic will never go out of fashion :D

Yeah. A chevy was my first car and I decided owning something that fell apart so fast was not the way to go. Oh, and I can't buy Fords - I have a dead grandfather who was a mechanic whose memory and opinion I am beholden to respect.

But, Ford owns Mazda, dude. And the Toyota plant in Georgetown, KY, employees a lot of folks in my home state. So there.

Mouse.... you mean you're not flying around on a giant bat ? :D

NiceWorg 01-31-2003 03:32 PM

Isn´t it quite expensive to own a car collection..?

I have a brown Corolla ´92. Excellent price/value... well, forget the value.

Attalus 01-31-2003 03:39 PM

I drive a pewter '99 Chevy Suburban LT; <font color=pink>Galadria</font> drives a silver 2002 Mazda Miata. Sorry Timber, I can hear you weeping all the way down here.

harleyquinn 01-31-2003 04:31 PM

I have a 2003 Toyota Corrola with a dent on the passenger side because of an idiot at the garage I park in when at work. Otherwise, it's a GREAT car, and it's nice to have something (finally) that doesn't need several hundreds dollars worth of work every few months (last car was a 1990 Chevy Blazer, in 2 years I wound up spending about 8000 keeping it on the road until I could afford a new car).
8000 - because 6 months after buying it I had to replace the engine, thanks to the bank of Dad I was able to borrow the $$

Nanobyte 01-31-2003 04:49 PM

Well, I get my license in about six months. I'm pretty sure I'll have enough for my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire by then :D

Lord of Alcohol 01-31-2003 05:01 PM

Me have truck

Sir Krustin 01-31-2003 05:27 PM

Hey, realbinky, how many head gaskets on the neon so far? :D

I'm driving a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim with a 2.5l 4-cyl and 300,000km on the clock. Burns no oil, although it leaks a little.

Cars in the past were two Camaros, a Mustang, and a Cavalier.

The Plymouth was a real shocker to my friends (who affectionately call it "the Dog" - remove the second "d" and the "e" from Dodge and you know where that came from... ) when they were used to me driving fast cars, but oh well you have to get practical sometime in life.

LowTech 01-31-2003 05:45 PM

I drive a 2002 Mini One like this...

I've heard of it! I drive a blue Hyundai Excel ;)

I don't get naming cars though. A friend of mine when I got my car, was all, what's it called?! Hers is called Eric (or something  ). I guess I just don't appreciate it.

Tobbin 01-31-2003 06:22 PM

I drive a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra with like 120,000 miles on it. I also drive a 2000 Cobra GT with 17,000 miles on it. Sounds cool doesn't it? Cobra GT? LOL. It's a passenger van. Has a good engine though. Had a run-in with someone on the right front quarter panel though. I was parked in front of a house and someone backed up into it. What a Maroon.... Can't look back to see if someone was behind him. Jeez. Not too bad, and I just haven't had the time to get it fixed. I did get insurance info, but I don't think it was all that expensive to want to go through all that. I'll find out more once I get an estimate though.

YeRFDoG 02-01-2003 12:14 AM

Here is a pic of my car, well one that looks very similiar.
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...photo_id=45965

Its a Nissan Pintara '86, I don't know if anyone would have heard of them outside Australia, but it's basically an R31 Skyline with a 2litre 4cyl engine.
It's a cheap car but runs well.

Alasdair na Fesoicce 02-01-2003 12:33 AM

I Have a Dodge Grand Caravan (Great for SCA eventing) but my true favorite I ended up having to scrap was my IHC Scout II 4x$, great off road vehicle if you can get the parts when you need them!

GokuZool 02-01-2003 04:17 AM

I'm too young to drive, but I wouldn't mind a Mitsubishi FTO ;)

Bristowe 02-01-2003 09:10 AM

At the moment i'm driving a holden astra, opel astra to you euros
I've changed the tires and wheels but havn't got money for anything else at the moment :( Been looking at some exhaust systems but they way out of my budget at this time hahaha
But man, so far it's the best car i've driven, i have a thing for fast hatches and it's a shame the turbo versions arn't available in australia, dammit. :D

Epona 02-01-2003 09:53 AM

Well I hope you don't mind me posting about my vehicles even though they're not cars! For those who don't know, I'm a scooter fanatic.

I am the proud owner of a 1969 Lambretta GP(DL) 125:

http://image1ex.villagephotos.com/786427.jpg

It's a little bit mechanically temperamental but I love it. Gorgeousness on wheels, and looks exactly as it did when it rolled off the production line 34 years ago. My pride and joy. I haven't done anything to it yet, but am thinking of getting a clip-on mirror for the sake of my neck, and a rear rack/spare wheel holder. Might also put whitewall tyres on it. The engine is reconditioned and it has a 12v battery instead of the original 6v one so the headlights actually work!

My other scooter is a 2002 Vespa - nowhere near as cool as the Lamby, but I've modded it up a bit by plastering it in chrome racks and bars. I use it for day to day stuff. Here it is:

<font color="cyan">Being only 18, not many cars!

Am into heavily modifying, just not got around to finish any project! Mouse, your car rules! I like Corrado's!

Ok, my first car was this 205 :

Pics - http://www.arcdelta.com/1/205xl.htm
Crash - http://www.arcdelta.com/1/crash.htm

I crashed this, quite badly, as you can see. Total write off, 10x over! lol.

Anyway, the sound system was very, very loud. The next one is going louder.

I now drive a Ford Fiesta. Not great, but I'm saving for either a Saxo, Megane Coupe or something!</font>

Animal 02-01-2003 09:38 PM

Got a 67 F100, 65 GTO, 92 Cherokee, and my latest acquistion a 71 Pantera.

As for the question, i have none. Not out of some crazy ideology but because it's safer for me and for others on the road. My neighbour has a pick-up though, wich he fixed up and that looks great.

Memnoch 02-02-2003 02:19 AM

I used to drive an Honda Integra Type R, mad car to drive, cornered like a demon, almost unbeatable on a twisty road, but I got sick of how hard the ride was - at 100kmh on the freeway I was at a throbbing 4500 RPM. The only mods I did to it were to the interior (put in a momo leather steering wheel, leather gearknob and aluminium pedals) and I tightened up the suspension so that it was even more rock-hard than it was. But some moron decided to use my car to stop his car and so I had to replace it. :D

And this is what I'm driving now - Alfa Romeo GTV. Absolutely love it, it's the best driving car I've driven so far.

Nah, it doesn't have a big enough back seat.

Memnoch, you really ran 4500rpm at 100 kays in the Integra? Why, did you lose high gear or something?? :D

No, that's the way VTEC works - the redline was at 9000rpm, and you had to rev it up to about five and a half to access all the torque. It's bred for racing, not cruising. I got sick of having to rev it all the time. ;)

Cloudbringer 02-02-2003 11:16 AM

Hmmm...my poor little Nissan Sentra is lost in here!
