Irongrinder 01-28-2003 05:26 PM

uhm, isn't number three also called time after time?

WillowIX 01-28-2003 05:29 PM

Hmm I onle know I few (I think) but Iīll post them anyway. ;)

1) Shout 2000 by, hmm, I have no idea. Itīs a Tears for Fears cover of Shout, I know that much.
3) Time after time is the title of an old Cyndie Lauper song.
4) U2 right?
10) The Doors!! People are strange

Thatīs about all I can figure out from your snips Yorick. Which lyrics are yours? Or you didnīt add any of yours? ;)

johnny 01-28-2003 05:31 PM

I only recognise 6 and 10, Frank Sinatra and the Doors.

Zarr 01-28-2003 05:35 PM

Would number 2 be Nine Inch Nails by any chance?

Barry the Sprout 01-28-2003 05:47 PM

No. 9 is "This Charming Man" by the Smiths.

And, just to throw this in as well, there is a song by REM called "Time after Time" on Reckoning with a similar preictable chorus. Did you mean that one by any chance Yorick? Its worth a try...

And, there is a thread along these lines in the Books, Movies, and TV discussions forum but I can't get any more and not many people are looking at it - its slowly sinking. So all of you get over there and have a go, it should still be on the first page. :D

Yorick 01-28-2003 05:50 PM

Looks like only 7 and 8 are left.... :D

Isn't 7 a lyric from Pink Floyd ?

WillowIX 01-28-2003 05:55 PM

Hubby says number 7 is a Pink Floyd tune. He has no idea about number 8 though.

Careful with that axe eugene is a pink floyd song about jerry garcia. its mainly a kick butt instrumental with the words careful with that axe eugene, said in the background and then a horrible scream, and more instrumental. really good tune. Especially when they perform "green is the color" and run it into "careful with that axe eugene" It makes me smile every time i hear it.

#4 I really want to say this is a Bob Dylan lyric, but that is jsut a guess.

#5 "the trial" by Pink Floyd off disc 2 of the wall. the second or 3rd to last track if i am not mistaken, though i dont remember the number.

#8 this sounds really familiar, but I can't identify it yet, I will think on it.

Yorick 01-28-2003 08:40 PM

Hang on, no-one got my number 5!

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 01-28-2003 08:52 PM

I have some for the brave souls willing to take them:

#1 "envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned"

#2 "It can ring, turn night to day
It can ring like fire when you loose your way."

#3"Spent my days with a woman unkind, Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine. "

#4 "Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart. You just gotta poke around."

#5 "She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes.
And I knew without askin' she was into the blues."

#6 "The man in me will hide sometimes to keep from bein' seen,
But that's just because he doesn't want to turn into some machine."

OK thats it, have fun

I love her lyrics to Fuel as well.

You old prog rock devil - it's "Supper's Ready" by Genesis IIRC :D

Btw, and not to put a dampener on anyone's fun, but the natural home for this kind of "Song Lyrics" thread would probably be the Book etc. Forum.

I've often wondered about that, but it's called "Books, Movies & TV Show Discussions" - I've always felt putting music stuff in there would be 'Off Forum' so the only place left is GD.

And seeing as the radio sticky is in GD....

??
