so anwayz im walking through the bridge district when some muggers try to take my money.... did i mention i was a solo sorceror? but anwayz i am trying to get away from them (cuz i didn't have a magic use licence and i obviously can't attack them) where are the guards???

THE DOCKS ARE OWNED BY THE THIEVES. It happens in every game, after a time, it won't happend anymore. ;)

Sazerac 06-26-2002 11:43 PM

That's the Bridge District, not the Docks, dizzy! ;)

The muggers won't attack you in the daytime, Robohobodude. They're only there in the evening hours. As Dizzy pointed out, too, there are thugs in the Docks district during the evening, too.

And unfortunatly even if you do run to a gaurd they dont do much.. most of them anyway :(

The only time a Militia has helped me, was when I fought a vampire in the City Gates. Wasnt of too much help, though, as my character were a Cavalier dualwielding Daystar and the Purifier (ToB)...

you can pay a license to use magic in the city. go to government district and enter the big building at the top of the map. some person in there will let you pay 5 grand to use magic in the city.

Alternatively... you can http://www.plauder-smilies.de/lmaa.gif them, kill them all, strike fear in them, and thus make them bother you no more. ;)

Those 5000 gold pieces are mine! :D

Killing the cowled wizards is definately the better option. Not only can you get alot of stuff but in a roleplaying sense its only natural that a son of Bhaal would have problems with authority. :D

The guy is named Corneil, and is a Mage. ;)
I also advice to kill the top majority of the Cowled Wizards instead. Much more XP, much more saved gold.

robohobodude 06-27-2002 10:33 AM

thanx guys, although i already did know about the magic licence i was just going to finish up the skinner murder quest first. (i've been through the game at least 6 times)

<font color-"silver"> Actually people, y'know that anti-elven twerp in waukeen's Promenade that attacks Viconia if you have her in the party? I had her punch him (unarmed) which knocked him out! The guard did that stupid prance and as soon as he got up the guard killed him which was good 'cos if I did it my rep went down by 5 and every NPC in the area became hostile.
So there is some use for the guards apart from practise with the SK save which I used to turn my Bhaalspawn into a silver dragon...
Every aspiring ice breathing wyrm needs a target! (That could go in my sig!)

Killing or paying the cowled wizards should realy depend on your allignment - would you expect to see a law-abiding citizen going around killing the authorities ??

Maxamus 06-28-2002 06:52 PM

Law Scrool 93 A of the Amnian Tarde Council: City: Athkatla

1) Cowled wizards shall be employed for protection to Amnian citizens. Past Generalhold Benshin hsall be Jail, locate Lord Freggin on Brynnlaw for more details.

2) City guard is of the Cowled Allaicne Trial. City Guard will at all times obey Cowled Wizards, or be delt the same punishment of blasphomy of the names.

Just a little made up thing I got off soem site, I should have boommarked it, it was gunney, ahd a bunch of thigns about amn like the alws and wierd storys about people. Cantten Boy, played by Adam Sandlar, was a great make fun of of Gaellyns Nephew. It goes into this thing saying about how he's being on a pit arena and drops his canteen and trips a contestant, real funney!!

Look, even Keldorn says only the foolish would think the Cowled Wizards are the good guys. Of course, this is Keldorn we are talking about, who would rather kill Viconia than accept her, but I accept that as a faux pas and say, if they are willing to bully women and subjugate the people, they deserve a spanking. ;)

Maxamus 06-29-2002 04:18 AM

Spank+Women=Good

Let stop this porblem in message boards today, how peopel skim it first before readi8ng the whole psot

The best place to be helped by the gaurds is in the promenade thats where most of them are .... oddly enough they all die very quickly :(

Willard 06-29-2002 05:40 PM

The Trademeet wizard militia dudes are strange. The only spell they know is Mirror Image, and after they cast that they try to whack the lions and spiders over the head with a stick. Very peculiar...what are they mages for if they can't cast spells?

Glorfindel 06-30-2002 01:17 AM

Yes the Trademeet Militia is pathetic... they die to a gang of VERY weak animals..... its a bit sad that about 3 weak mages and 4 weak fighters have to protect suc a nice city
